Marc Leslie, Sean Fraser, Gary Glasgow & Errol McFarlane representing North East Stars at the Mall.DIRECTV North East Stars announced the signing of Colombian defender Carlos Gonzales. This will be Gonzales second campaign with North East Stars, seperated by a spell with Joe Public.

The speedy 24 year old was described by Head Coach Rod Underwood as " A good addition to the squad."

Underwood went on to say "Carlos will be under consideration for Fridays match against St Anns Rangers."

North East Stars are expecting Fridays match to attract lots of Stars supporters with special offers available for their supporters.

"We have special North East Stars supporters T shirts on sale and a special limited refreshment offer. "said Operations Director Kevin Harrison. "We want to create a real party atmosphere for our supporters and ramp up the support for the team.

With most of our support traditionally in the Sandre Grande region, we need to make The Stars a national brand. We will have a rhythm section and freebies for our fans."

Last Saturday, players from DIRECTV North East Stars put their skills on show at Trincity Mall, when they made an appearance at Sports & Games' new Footlocker store.

T&T internationals, Errol McFarlane and Gary Glasgow were accompanied by Jamaican international striker, Sean Fraser, and last weeks man of the match for The Stars, Marc "Passion" Leslie.

The new Footlocker store features designated branded areas for top brands such as Adidas, Nike, KSwiss and Converse, as well as Lotto, uniform supplier to DIRECTV North East Stars. "We were pleased to attend this event" said Harrison.

"The players understand that it is important to support our sponsors and volunteered to give up their free time to attend. That's the kind of atmosphere we have built around the club.

The players understand that we have to be successful off the field as well as on it." The event was a pleasant surprise to the shoppers in the busy mall. "We had a few youngsters come out to show their skills" said ProLeague joint top scorer, Errol McFarlane.

"Its great to encourage the children. Having played overseas, I have seen how foreign clubs interact with youngsters to develop talent and encourage support at matches.

This is one area where T&T is weak, but I'm encouraged by the projects North East have in place and its good to see the Pro League are also focused on football in the community."

The event saw a DJ playing Soca while the players juggled and modelled various Lotto sportswear and the teams striking uniforms, while the MC worked up the crowd and encouraged spectators to come and show their talents with a ball.

McFarlanes' strike partner, Sean Fraser added "We as a club have to reach out to our communities and support our sponsors. The Footlocker staff were great and I love the Lotto range in the store."

Harrison added "We are planning many similar events to support our partners and we are still seeking new partners for some charity events we have planned." He continued " We will obviously focus on our communities in the North East, but you will see that the North East Stars brand will extend across the country.

"The Footlocker store is the second to be launched by Sports & Games, following the opening of a store in San Fernando two weeks ago. Looking forward to Fridays match against St Anns Rangers, Harrison said " If we win we will be top of the Pro League, at least for a few hours!"

The match is at Hasely Crawford on Friday at 6pm. Details of supporters offer can be found on the teams facebook page: Kevin Harrison (North East Stars).
