After almost a three-month break for the Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the First Citizens Cup and Digicel Caribbean Cup qualifiers, the Digicel T&T Pro League resumes today with a double-header at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 6 pm.

In the opener, run-away leaders, Defence Force, fresh off a 9-1 win over Eastern Football Association’s Malabar FC in the T&T Football Association FA Trophy competition, will meet lowly Police.

The “Teteron Boys” lead the ten-team table with maximum 27 points after winning all its matches in the first-half of the league and will be confident of continuing that trend after Wednesday’s showing.

Police, meanwhile is only two points above cellar-place FC South End. Defence Force led by leading scorer Devon Jorsling, also had a win over Tobago United in round one, but the latter has since been ousted from the competition due to financial reasons.

When Defence Force and Police met in the first round clash of the “Protective Services,” Defence Force won 3-0. Today, however, coach Ross Russell will be without long-term injury casualty, speedy winger Kevon Carter (broken leg) and Police will no doubt be happy for his absence as they seek to move up the table.

Two hours later, third placed W Connection (14 points) and San Juan Jabloteh, two points behind in fifth spot and coming off of contrasting FA Trophy results on Wednesday night clash at the same venue. W Connection was ousted from the FA 3-2 on penalty-kicks by fellow professional club Ma Pau after a 0-0 while Jabloteh eased past Valtrin FC 3-0.

However, when both clubs met in the first round, it was W Connection which came away 1-0 victors. Tomorrow, three matches are on scheduled with defending champions, bmobile Joe Public hosting Ma Pau at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya from 6 pm while a double-header is on cards at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.
