The national Under-23 trio of Curtis Gonzales, Kevin Molino and Glenroy Samuel are expected to line up for the Defence Force in the Digicel Pro League next season.

This after the trio, who were all part of the T&T Under-20 squad at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009 began training with the Ross Russell-coached Defence Force squad earlier this month.

Both Gonzales, a defender and midfielder Molino, who made his national senior team debut last November in the Digicel Caribbean Cup were members of the Ma Pau club for the past two seasons.

However, their existing contracts ended in December and the two have now decided to take their talents to the Defence Force team.

Samuel, was the starting goalkeeper for the T&T squad in Egypt and was a member of defending Digicel Pro Legaue club, bmobile Joe Public until mid-November, before he was released.

Contacted for comment, Russell said he was delighted that the three players have made the first step towards becoming members of the Defence Force.

“Molino and Gonzales contracts were up at Ma Pau while Samuel was released by Joe Public and they all asked to join us for training which they did.

“As a coach I would have been foolish not to invite them because they are three very good young players that will only improve with time.

“Our team is on the verge of qualifying for the Concacaf Champions League and once the trio get through the necessary training and examinations they will be a major boost to our squad,” added Russell.
