The T&T Pro League has attracted the interest of two local clubs. South Zone’s Petrotrin and the Super League’s Tobago outfit Bi Water Stokely Vale have both expressed interest in joining the ranks of the T&T Pro League for the upcoming 2005 season.

This follows the league’s open invitation to allow two additional teams into the fold for the new season. CEO of the league Dexter Skeene confirmed that there are in fact two new applications before him, and he described the new development as “very good news.”

Skeene, said “the fact that there are teams on the outside eager and interested in becoming professional outfits and joining the ranks augurs well for the future of the league.”

The former national midfielder told ‘ttproleague.com’ that the board of directors is reviewing each case and has requested some additional information from the two teams and a final decision on whether or not both Petrotrin and Stokely Vale’s applications will be accepted will be decided at next week Thursday’s board meeting.

The league had 8 teams last year competing and according to the CEO there is the possibility that there may be an increase, but he says, “at this stage it would be pre-mature to say what the final composition of teams will be.” The 2005 season is expected to kick off on April 2nd.
