The tickets for the December 2 Fifa Women’s World Cup Concacaf/Comnebol second leg playoff between T&T and Ecuador, which go on sale on Monday, are reasonably priced considering the historical significance of the event.

T&T Football Association (TTFA) general secretary Sheldon Phillips expressed this point yesterday, while suggesting that he expects a large turn-out at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain, for the Tuesday evening fixture set for a 6 pm kickoff.

Uncovered seats are priced at $100, while the covered section costs $200 to enter. Children under 12 years of age will not be charged for entry.

According to a TTFA release, the tickets go on sale on Monday at outlets to be identified in due course. Tickets will also be on sale on site from 10 am on the morning of the match and gates open from 3 pm.

Commenting on the ticket prices and his expectations of the demand, Phillips said he believes the team has generated considerable interest and that there is the potential for tickets to sell out at the venue, which accommodates roughly 23,000 spectators.

“The ticket prices reflect the immensity of the match. But, if 12,000 to 15,000 supporters turn out for the game, I wouldn’t consider that a failure. That would be the by far the biggest turn-out the women’s team would have gotten,” he added, comparing it to the men’s team, which he said has not been able to attract that many spectators in recent years.”
