Trinidad and Tobago national Women's U-15 team head coach Marlon Charles and his assistant coach Jamila Gamero who also serves as team Manager has been working hard behind the scenes with the national youth team in hope of qualifying for the 2014 Women's World Cup in Canada.

Female footballers under 15 years are invited to attend training sessions when the new year begins.

One of the main goals of the T&T American Youth Soccer Organisation (T&TAYSO) this season is to focus on developing girls in the game of football. T&TAYSO will this year introduce an all girls programme for players between four and 14 years. Registration commences on Sunday from 7.30 am to 3 pm at Scotia Bank car park, Hollis Ave in Arima. A cake sale is also scheduled.

A one-hour downpour just prior to kick-off meant that this game was postponed for 55 minutes, but it breathed a fresh, cool air into the Jalan Besar Stadium as the match got off to a lively start.

Equatorial Guinea surprisingly beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-1 to book a place in the Girls’ Youth Olympic Football Tournament semi-finals – and ensure the inactive Chile, who beat T&T in their curtain-raiser, will also go through from Group B.

After losing their opening matches to Turkey and Chile respectively, Iran and Trinidad and Tobago enter their second and last outing in the group stage knowing that nothing fewer than three points can salvage their hopes of a place in the semi-finals. The west Asians will face an enigmatic Papua New Guinea side, while the Caribbean islanders lock horns with a highly-motivated Equatorial Guinea.

In a match between two of the tournament’s best-organised sides, a tentative start was always on the cards.
