The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team defeated a hard-working Trinidad & Tobago side 5-0 on Saturday at the Estadio Cementos Progreso to qualify for the all-important semifinal match at the 2012 CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championship.

Mexico used goals from U.S.-based Hallie Hernandez and Luz Duarte to beat Trinidad & Tobago 2-0 on Thursday, keeping El Tri perfect against opponents other than the United States and Canada at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 footballers had their first training session at the match venue on Wednesday  morning ahead of their opening CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match against Mexico on Thursday on an artificial surface at the Estadio Cementos Progreso at 6:30pm.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 women’s team had its warm-up encounter against Panama cut short on Wednesday evening after sudden rainfall and a violent outbreak of lighting and thunder forced the game to be abandoned in the 55th minute.

A 20-member Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 Women’s Team left these shores this (Tuesday) morning and is expected to arrive in Panama City later today for a two-match training camp as it continues preparations for the CONCACAF Final Round of qualifiers for the 2013 FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan.
