T&T Under-15 women’s team head coach Rajesh Latchoo sees the importance of the members of this country’s senior women’s team serving as role models to their younger peers.

Latchoo has been handed the responsibility of preparing the national youth girl’s team for the Concacaf U-15 Championship in the Cayman Islands in August. He is also the assistant coach for the senior women’s team which is currently in Charleston for a four-game training camp.

“There has to be a link between both teams and what I’m trying to do is to encourage and show the older girls the importance of them putting on the right display and attitude and being role models to the younger girls,” Latchoo said.

“They have a role to play. We have some very experienced players in the senior team who have done well in the past and they must see the holistic side of this whole effort. And on the flip side, the younger players must see the values of working hard and trying to achieve something in the game by having the right approach,” said the Princes Town-born coach, who is also one the TTFA’s coach education instructors.

“Both sets of players are committed but they obviously want more exposure. They have set their sights in big things in the women’s game and we’ve got to try our best to give the best possible chance to achieve their goals.”
