Carapichaima RC girls received high commendation from officials of the Waterloo Institute of Soccer Players.
At a function at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva on Saturday last, the girls were congratulated for winning the national Primary Schools Football League title.

Led by Zoe Swift, the Carapichaima girls swept all opposition on their way to the title.

WISP president Stephen Bartholomew praised the team’s success and also paid tribute to Jim Baptiste, who apart from being a vice-president of WISP, conducted a development programme for the girls from 2003 to 2007.

Bartholomew said, a formal prize distribution ceremony will be held early next year to recognise players of WISP now included in the national youth teams.

He boasted WISP had one player in the boys national Under-17 squad and six girls in training with the national Under-15 team.

Bartholomew thanked Hakim Hosein of Hakim Hosein Construction Limited for his invaluable financial support for the development of the girls programme.

Before the presentation there were four matches in the Under-10, girls, under-14 and under-16 categories with WISP winning them all.

First WISP Under-10s shut out Tabaquite Institute of Soccer (TIS) 2-0 then the girls led by Zoe Swift edged Petrotrin Fyzabad 1-0.The under- 14s ripped TIS 4-1 and the under-16s walloped Vishnu Boys Secondary 7-2.
