Female footballers under 15 years are invited to attend training sessions when the new year begins.

The first session is tentatively schedule for the Dwight Yorke Stadium on Saturday January 9.

Corbin Cooper, coordinator and coach for the training program told the Tobago News that the program is two-fold, to prepare the aspiring footballers to vie for selection for national duty in the country's Under 13 and 15 teams and for the development of Tobago football.

While Tobago is holding their own at the senior level, having five players on the Soca Princesses team and winning the 2009 Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation Women League Championship tournament and presently in a position to finish first or second in the League this year which is yet to be completed, the same cannot be said for the juniors.

There were no players on the National Under 15 team that played in the Youth Olympics earlier in the year, neither were there any players in the National Under 17 that team that played in the FIFA Women Under 17 World Cup that was hosted in Trinidad earlier in the year.

Corbin said that he is confident that he can correct this imbalance but the young players must be willing to commit to a regimented training program in order to fast track their development.
