Malabar FC was crowned new champions of the Eastern Football Association Premier Division after a 4-2 win over La Horquetta SA in a their top-of-the clash on Sunday at La Horquetta Recreation Ground.

Going into the match, Malabar led the nine-team table with 35 points from 14 matches, two more than La Horquetta SA which needed a win in its final match to have any chance.
 
However, Malabar proved too strong and came away with the comfortable victory to push its points tally to an unassailable 38 with a match left to play against Carib.
 
Saturday, Keron Reid and Kevon Osbourne scored two goals each to lead Joe Public to a 7-0 mauling of Carib at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya to climb to 30 points and a chance of claiming second with a win in its final match against St John’s United, today at Macoya from 3.45pm.
 
In the First Division, T&T Prisons moved a step closer to promotion with a 3-1 whipping of Creek to move to 40 points from 16 matches, five ahead of La Horquetta XF with two matches left for both clubs.
