Point Fortin Civic Centre (PFCC), aiming to defend its Southern Football Association (SFA) Petrotrin Super League title, finally got its first win of the season after three tries, when the club defeated Centre For Excellence 5-0 in the Winston St Clair Group B, on Saturday.

Kester Cornwall starred in the big win with a hat-trick, while Akeem Redhead added to his match-tying goal in the last fixture with another goal on the weekend, with Steven Joseph on target with the other. PFCC was held to a 1-1 draw with last year’s National Super League relegated team Siparia Spurs, a week prior. Siparia Spurs followed up on Saturday with another disappointing result, a 2-2 draw away to Penal All Stars. Che Forbes scored a double for Siparia, while Alfred John and Jamal John got Penal’s items.

Celebrating successive victories was Petrotrin Palo Seco, which blew Night Stars United out the park after a humiliating one-sided 15-0 victory. For the Group B leader, Corey Cyrus scored a double hat-trick (six goals), followed by Tigana Sparks, who bagged five. Kervin Mark aided with a double, while efforts from Brandon Francis and Anderson Lara rounded off the scoring.

In Group A, Big Dreams United also scored successive victories after dropping Cedal Hill United 1-0, while UUFC responded to a 4-0 loss last weekend, to take a 4-2 win over San Fernando Giants.
