Former University of Connecticut (UCONN) men’s soccer standouts O’Brian White, Chris Gbandi and Julius James were named to the College Soccer News Team of the Decade (2000-09) as announced on Monday.

Both White and Gbandi’s efforts while playing with the Huskies earned them spots on the All-Decade First Team.

James, who played for UConn from 2004-07, was 2007 M.A.C. Herman Trophy semifinalist, was a First Team All-Northeast member as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.

James was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and received the BIG EAST Defensive player of the Year nod for the third straight season as he started all 24 games and registered two goals and one assist during his senior year.

He was also an NSCAA/adidas All-American multiple years during his successful career at Connecticut.

James was drafted as the ninth overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. After recovering from an injury, he scored in his MLS debut.
