T&T Football Association (TTFA) general secretary Sheldon Phillips is excited over a new partnership between the TTFA and One World Futbol.

Phillips believes that the new alliance which will see 15,000 indestructible footballs distributed in T&T, will assist in achieving greater participation locally.

The One World Futbol Project assists the work of a growing network of organisations and brightens the lives of millions of children through the One World Futbol.

The Project, responsible for manufacturing, selling, and donating the balls, was formally founded as a non-profit organisation in July 2010, just before the final match of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa

In May 2012 Chevrolet announced a sponsorship agreement in which the company would purchase and donate one-and-a-half million One World Futbol balls that are designed to be nearly impossible to permanently destroy. The ball is made with a specialised foam, related to the material used to make Crocs shoes, that allows the ball to re-inflate after being punctured.

Phillips added: “A key component to development is achieving increased participation and a new programme will begin in the fall and made possible through a TTFA partnership and initiated through its former technical director, Lincoln Phillips. One World Futbol will bring 15,000 indestructible footballs to T&T to be distributed to most underserved areas throughout the country.”

“Under this initiative, the TTFA believes that true player development will occur when every child has access to a football and with the help of Chevrolet and One World Futbol we will see even more football played in the country,” the TTFA general secretary added.
