The north east franchisee of the ISL have got a green signal to sign the 32-year old striker...

The fifth highest goal scorer for Trinidad and Tobago, Cornell Glen will play for the North East United FC, Goal can reveal.

With each Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee being allowed to sign five players on their own accord, except foreign players for whom a prior permission needs to be sought, Glen was approved by the tournament organisers to play in the inaugural edition of the new league.

He becomes the first foreign player who has plied or is still playing in the I-League to be a part of the ISL bandwagon.

Last season he joined Shillong Lajong on a two-year deal and scored 13 goals in the I-League to finish as the joint second top scorer.

He has been an integral part of the Soca Warriors’ squad for over a decade, and played a starring role in their qualification for the 2006 World Cup, and went on to feature in all three games of the main edition.

He also garnered praise for his performances against Sweden and England, against whom, he gave Ashley Cole a hard time.

In all, he has featured 68 times for his country and is the fifth highest goal scorer in Trinidad & Tobago’s history, out-scoring a certain Dwight Yorke.
