HECTOR Sam felt mixed emotions after coming off the bench to grab his first goal in Notts County's 3-2 defeat to Hereford last night.

The former Walsall striker pulled it back to 3-2 but the Magpies could not find an equaliser and were punished for going two goals behind early on.

But Sam believes it is coming together and is hoping this is the start of more goals to come from all the strikers.

He said: "I was delighted with the goal but disappointed with the result. After we got ourselves back in the game, we were totally disappointed at the end.

"The manager said go on and get a goal and if we do we can hopefully go on and get something out of the game.

"But it did not happen and we were sloppy at the back and the third goal cost us.

"For my goal it was a great ball by Butcher and I saw the keeper coming so I just slid it through him.

"I was disappointed because the last couple of games I have had good chances and not buried them. But I feel confident now I got the goal.

"It is something off our backs and I hope the other strikers now get involved and once we all get scoring it will make things easier.

"I think it is coming together. Against Rotherham we played well, on Saturday we played well and last night we were disappointed with the first half but the second half we played well so it is coming together and hopefully we can push on."

Sam is hoping to get the nod to start at Wycombe on Saturday and he knows it will be another difficult game.

"Wycombe are a good footballing side. We need to do some things on the training ground and really focus because it will be a difficult game.

"The manager loves to rotate but I am getting sharp, my body fat is coming back and I feel good, so I hope to be involved.

"I love it here, the fans are great and hopefully we can make them happy come the end of the season."
