Darryl Roberts, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s starting National Team strikers, has just signed a 3-year deal with Denizlispor Football Club, a Turkish First Division side.  After finishing an 18 month contract in the Eredivisie with Sparta Rotterdam, Darryl looks to broaden his horizons in Europe by joining a new club.  MLF Sports, Darryl’s managing Agency, has been in negotiations with numerous teams in different countries throughout the past few weeks, a process which ultimately lead Darryl to sign with Denizlispor.  When asked about his new club, Darryl said, “I am looking forward to playing a more dominant role with Denizlispor Kulubu.  I am excited to join a new league, one of the top leagues in Europe, and I am ready to take my career to the next level.”  Heather MacKenzie of MLF Sports said the following about Darryl’s new signing, “Darryl and I closely reviewed all opportunities the context of his long-term career goals and in light of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Turkey is a very competitive league and at Denizlispor he will have a chance to showcase his skills and develop as an international player.”

Known by their distinct green and black colors, Denizlispor is a sports club based out of Denizli, Turkey. The Denizlispor Football squad, which was originally founded in 1966, is currently the largest and most popular of the club’s teams with a seating capacity of up to 19,500 fans at Denzili Atatürk Stadium. As part of the Turkish Football Federation’s Süper Lig, the Kulubu have gained international recognition in recent years, when their fifth place finish in 2002 qualified them for a match in the UEFA Cup. That year, the team made a surprising run, defeating other European teams like FC Lorient, Sparta Prague, and Olympique Lyonnais, before losing in the fourth round to FC Porto, who would eventually go on to win the tournament. In anticipation of a promising season, the green and black hope to improve on last year’s seventh place finish by adding Darryl Roberts to their roster.
