TRINIDAD and Tobago international Dennis Lawrence is still waiting for a contract offer from Crewe, the player's agent has confirmed.

Alex boss Gudjon Thordarson appears to have cooled his interest in the 34-year-old, who played 29 games for the club last season after signing on loan from Swansea at the end of September.

Lawrence's agent, Mike Berry, said the centre-half would still like to join the club, but confirmed he had fielded interest from rival clubs.

He said: "There are lots of clubs interested in Dennis. We are waiting to hear from Crewe, but we have heard nothing for two weeks.

"He would like to sign for Crewe. He put in a lot of effort for them last season and would love to go there.

"I don't know why they have not come back."

Lawrence is a free agent after he was released by Swansea at the end of the season. His efforts for Crewe last year included playing in a mask to protect a broken cheekbone.

Thordarson strengthened his defence two weeks ago when he signed centre-half Patrick Ada, aged 24, on a free transfer from non-league Histon.

Ada, who has also played for Barnet and Exeter, has signed a two-year contract. But Thordarson has said he is still looking to bring in another centre-half.
