Football / Re: Trent chooses Joe Public over US colleges
« on: May 14, 2010, 09:26:21 AM »
I recently returned home from a football scholarship and it is blaring to see the contrast in professionalism between D 1 "COLLEGE" ball and the "TT PRO LEAGUE." I doh mean to bash any of the pro teams here eh but dey dont want nothing with a potent NCAA D 1 programme when it comes to professionalism and organization. I went to school with real players that decided to stay home and play pro and trust mih all ah them regretting it right now. The only player that got a break was Kenwynne Jones and he was not the best player by any means. He was just fortunate enough to get the opportunity and he made good of it. So partner my advice to you is go to COLLEGE... You were being recruited but a top 25 programme so development as a player and a person on the whole is present, is just for you to grasp it. The myth that the US College league being a black whole for TT players is garbage.. Ask Stern John, Brent Sancho, Evans Wise, Avery John, Julius James, Daryl Roberts to name a few.
Dont know if there is still time for you to resend your initial decision but if there is GO TO COLLEGE with the mindset to develop as a player and pursue an education and I am certain you would not regret it in the long run..
All the best with what ever path you choose mih bredda!!
Pro league teams have recorded wins against MLS teams, A-League teams and a Mexican league team. You might be right on the level of organisation in the College system but don't cry down the league. We better than you think.

Mih bredda I not crying down the PRO LEAGUE at all.. I know that we have the world of talent in the PRO LEAGUE but how is that talent being nurtured? Why do the most promising players in the league fade away as UNSONG HEROES? What measures does the league have in place to insure that our best players have the opportunity to secure an overseas contract? Answer me that nah bredren!!

Hyland is AT LEAST twice de footballer dat Bleedah is.

Hope yuh have yuh beta blockers handy.  8)
Hyland is diffinitely not better technically than Bleeder. The difference is confidence. Where Hyland seems to thrive on his confidence, Bleeder seems to go in a shell (opting for short safe passes). I think that this is Theo's main problem.

Football / Robert Primus Thread
« on: September 28, 2009, 03:33:20 PM »
First of all I would like to thank our Young Socawarriors for their valiant attempt in today's game; good showing fellas!!

After watching the last two games, there is one player that really stands out to me. Not taking anything away from the rest of our young warriors, but I think Robert Primus has done exceptionally well in his role for the team. He is a big physical centre back that has alot going for him. This guy reads the game well, covers alot of ground (in a short time), is dominant in the air, tackles the ball well and is a decent passer of the ball from the back. I think given the right environment, this guy could truly become a fixture in our senior team and even go on to play in one of the world's top leagues.

WHAT IS YOUR ASSESSMENT OF THIS PLAYER?

Nah he playing left side since the WCQ.  Like they have no left footer on the team. He is play central drifting left usually.

He showed no fight to me compared to them ratings above by jumbonuts. And Glenroy Samuel lookmuch better in his decision making that Jan Michael Williams or Marvin Phillips usually do for the senior team...IMO.
I didn't see Leston Paulwhole game either, but I agree with the Hyland and Gay being totally missing.

You really thought his decisison making was better that Jan Michael and Marvin Phillips? Hmmm.. One particular scenario was when the Egyptian forward Tallat broke free from about 40 yards out. As the play developed and the camera covered Tallat advancing to the goal I am certain that every Trinidadian was expected Samuel to bust onto the screen and scoop the ball up... That never happened.. Samuel was still on his goal line..lol.. A last ditch tackle by Cyrus prevented him from punishing us.

Football / U 20 Evaluation
« on: September 24, 2009, 10:01:54 PM »
1. Samuel - 5- Great reflexes but his decision making seems to be very poor. On many occasions he was caught in no man's land and hand to rely on his athletism to pull him out of the situation.

2. Thompson -8- Excellent game. Clearly he showed that he was a cut above the rest. His tactical awareness, dedication to defensive duties, ability to get forward in attack, dribbling ability and crossing ability makes him a real asset to the team.

3. Primus -7- He covered alot of ground, marshaled our back four and often put in the last ditch tackle and when needed. Our rock in defence. (definitely one for the future).

4. Cyrus -5- A bit shaky in the early going, but he came into his own as the game progressed. Needs to be a bit more dominant in that centre half position.

5. Bentick -5- Decent tackler but was often found out of position, forcing him to scramble across. Needs to improve on his service to the front runners.

Overall analysis of the defensive shell -5- improved organization and better communication between the back four and the goalkeeper is warranteed.

Paul -5- Showed good fight off the ball, but was ineffective on the ball.. needs to stamp his authority on the game as the captain, and lead his team.

Rochford-6- played his role as the holding mid to good effect. Was intrumental in breaking up some of the Egyptian attacks, and seldom gave the ball away when in possession.

Da Sivla -4- Showed fight off the ball, but was poor in possession. Guilty of tunring the ball over to the Egyptians in dangerous parts of the field.

Adams -4- ineffective down the left flank. produced nothing offensively and little cover defensively. Seems out of sort in his new role on the team.

Hyland -5- Ineffective with his back to goal. He needs to play in his more familiar central midfield role. (settled the team down when he went there in the 2nd period) (N.B. -: Still needs Rochford to cover him in the midfield.)

Gay -4- Toally out of the game. In fairness to him, the quality of service into him wass poor but he still needs to be more of a threat when on the ball.

Clarence -5- Despite being guilty of blundering a great scoring opportunity he had a decent game. Showed good touches and made powerful runs in the heart of the Egyptian defence.

Molino -5- Illustrated confidence and good touches on the ball. (Would like to see more of him)

Joseph - - (limited time)

Coaching Staff -5- Decent use of bench.

All in All, our young Socawarriors gave good account of themselves leaving us fans to be opptimistic about the future.

Team I would like to see line up for our next match.
--------------Samuel---------------
Thompsosn----Primus----Cyrus/ Bateau----Bentick/Adams

Good luck Socwarriors!!

Football / Re: Where was the Defense?
« on: June 08, 2009, 08:21:19 AM »
I might be crazy but maybe a thought to try Birchell at the Center back with Lawrence. He is solid at defending, decent in the air and could cover Lawrence. Is not like Mexico big and tall up front.

Birchall at right back would be a better option but you have a point. He stays with his defensive duties and covers well.

Football / Re: Would Birchall make a good defender ?
« on: June 08, 2009, 08:17:37 AM »
What piss me off is that the fact if Costa Rica wanted to score, they scored !!!

That's how poor our defence was.

This is why Birchall might be good in right back and let Carlos focus going forward.

Birchall have no skills what so ever, he can stick with his man and make great tackles. Hyland, Spann or Trent could be our DM players and move Birchall to right back.

Something like this in the future.

                   Ince
Birchall, Lawrence, Avery, Jlloyd
Edwards, Noel, Daniel, Hyland, Aklie
                 Jones

for a minute there I thought you were posting something serious!

Aklie on the left would be a good choice for us. That is wherehe plays for Defence Force and he is pretty efficient getting forward and working back to help the left back. The boi have a great work rate and that would be a good asset to we defensive minded left side.

Well Cool Beans, Matas was totally unsure of himself and unfamiliar with the right players for the right role. Dis persistence with Akile Edwards was baffling. Latas on a different scene dread

He was only ommitted because of suspension.. The youth is talented and will be used by Latas later on!!

WOW! LOL

Is this a joke? This is proof of how ignorant some people can be! All I did was posted my opinion on the new interim coach and asked for opinions from others and I just get people attacking me personally. I am not a foreigner, I am ah Trini! I was born a Trinidadian and I am proud of my heritage! How could you make the connection that if I don't like Latas as the new coach, I'm not a true Trini? I never dissed Latas you idiots! I just said I don't think he would be suitable to coach our national squad when we really need wins! We have 2 points out of 9! This is not the time to play with interim coaches! I really pray that Trinidad wins their next game, or else the rest of you will never hear the end of it!

For those who had something constructive to say, Thanks. For those who just read what they wanted to read, grow up!

Yo dont take on them fellas mih brudda.. I understand where you're coming from. Latas in my opinion is the greatest footballer to ever past through TnT but I am afraid that our infactuation of him as a player has bettered our judgement. In saying that I think that Russell has what it takes to become a great coach one day but seeing our current situation now may not be the right time. We are in a crucial stage of our Word Cup campaign and every game counts. Appointing Latas as the HEAD COACH now can tarnish his name if the team under achieves. This would be unfear to a man of his stature. I think that Latas successful career warrants him getting the opportunity to coach our senior national team but I dont think that now is the right time, i.e. if the TTFF is taking this 2010 South Africa campaign seriously. This move leaves me wondering if Mr. Jack Warner and his administration have decided that our current quest is too far fetched, and so they have made decisions to lay the foundation for the 2014 campaign. With all this said, I do wish Mr. RUSSELL "LITTLE MAGICIAN" LATAPY all the best; I hope that he is now able to work his magic on the coaching spectrum and lead us too our second consecutive WC finals.. I AM A SOCAWARRIOR!!

Allyuh jus love to put Edwards in de mix eh.  Even ah writer who eh ha nutten to do with TnT see dat the RB position was the worst on the night.  Yet to hear allyuh tell it is Edwards.  Funny AW had Carlos helping him out and still look like ah kingsize lump ah tootoo but Edwards who gets zero help from Daniel is allyuh whippin boy.  Allyuh great oui.

but to be fair, Wolfe only shit down heself 1st half (then get subbed), Edwards did it for 90 mins

How many times did the US successfuly get the ball into the box from the left in the 2nd half?

Them fellas just like to fight down the youth.. It as clear to see that the RB was the weakest link on the night. All the goals came from that side of the field. Both Wolfe and Hislop were exploited and this led to clear cut scoring opportunities.

A new Head Coach is desperately needed. Hopefully the TTFF brings someone that would instill the discipline and organisation needed for our beloved SOCAWARRIORS to make it to WC 2010. If Jack like Pacho so much leh him give him ah wuk by Joe Public!!

Dis issue make mih realise that sometimes if you not on spot to see with your own 2 eyes, what you read and hear in de media could be very misleading....
I didn't post more on the topic before now because I was having internet trouble.  I remember when we walked into the "meet and greet" we were wondering where were the players.  It was as if they had to be coaxed out of their rooms to come to the reception.  And they didn't look very happy at all, in fact despondent would be the correct term.
It was only after the people/fans gathered started talking to them and asking for pics and autographs did some lighten up a bit.

Moral of the story:  Doh believe everything you read or hear in the media....

Now on the topic of boycott, I considering it if dey doh get rid of that dentist parading as a coach!!.... >:(

When I read the story and some of the responses here I was wondering where this shit come from.  I can understand how the uninformed can draw the conclusion that the players don't care.  But given explanations from those who were on hand I can't see the reason for continued ignorance.  The players are humans like we all are.  Our culture is one that is blessed with the ability to overcome things quickly whether it be thru jokes partying or argument.  The players could never be happy with what occured, but nevertheless they gave of themselves at a moment when many of us mighta say F dat me eh in no mood fuh dah nah!!  They were expected to appear at the event based on what was advertised and they showed class by being there despite how they must have felt.  Initially I was on the fence wanting to question their choice, but in retrospect I honestly feel they needed that.

Jumbonuts thanks to you and your peoples for putting on the event because de vibes was good.  Nexx time ah go deal wid yuh selector earlier doh lol.

Aint nothing man.. I just glad everyone came out and were able to enjoy themselves despite the dissapointment we faced earlier that night. Big up to Tallman, Feliziano, Brownsugar, Preacher, Optimus Prime, all other forumites present and most of all the players that came through.

As for muh selector he appreciate any assistance given man..lolol.. Big up!!

I now get a chance to sit down and read all the bachannal on here about after party this and players aint care that.
Leh meh ask allyuh something; which one ah allyuh was dey to talk to the players them after their dismal performance? Allyuh think they was happy about it? STEUPPPPS.. Well I know them fellas personally and I could tell yuh this, they were very distraught about their performances. Allyuh bawling they dont care and all kinda nonesense, well tell me what allyuh think they should have done after a performance like that to show that they care?.. STEUPS.. How allyuh does deal with allyuh dissappointments; sit down in allyuh room and sulk? Everybody have their own manner of dealing with their dissapointments. Allyuh have to remember that most ah these fellas have other issues too may it be with their respective clubs, family or whatever. This team was together for approximatley a week and a half. Within that 9 days they played 2 WC qualifiers, travelled for bout 10 hours and well obviously trained. The sacrifice they make for our country is commendable yet still some are allyuh talking bout BOYCOTT because some ah the men and them went ah lime with some fans..
STEUPS.. Come on nah people. Them fellas sacrficing alot and it is unfair when their own fans thinking bout boycotting because of the way they choice to deal with their unfavorable performance. STEUPS that is why people does say that trinis are a set of BANDWAGGONIST!!

We need to rally behind this team now is we want them to successfully secure a spot in the 2010 WC. Boycotting is for the ignorant people.. Are we really Socawarriors as we claim?

nashville crew,

what is the parking situation for all dis?
based on the city map, i figure that i could park at the Metro Courthouse, located at the south end of 2nd Avenue and Union St. then we could walk acrosss the Woodland St. Bridge to LP Field.

before and after the game we can check out downtown nashville and the fetes respectively.

is this doable? my concerns with this plan are:

1. is it safe to walk across the Woodland St. Bridge to LP Field? Are there pedestrian lanes?

2. is the Metro Courthouse parking lot safe and close enough to the downtown attractions and the entertainment district to walk?

3. do i need to bring my gun in case of jackers in downtown nashville late @ night?

thanks!

1. The bridge is the customary means to get to the LP Fields for Titans games.. It is a pedestrian lane; cars have no access to the bridge.

2. The metro courthouse is a good choice but there are many other paking lots in close proximity. I have never experienced or known anyone that has experienced car theft downtown Nashville.

3. You doh need yuh pipe; Nashville is a cool city.
