Football / Fifa officials 'offer to sell 2018 World Cup bid votes'
« on: October 16, 2010, 04:02:59 PM »
Two Fifa officials have offered to sell their votes in the contest to host the 2018 World Cup, according to a Sunday Times report.

The newspaper has video footage in which Nigerian Amos Adamu, a Fifa executive committee member, appears to ask for £500,000.

This is completely against Fifa rules.

And Oceania Football Confederation president Reynald Temarii, wanted money for a sports academy for his vote, which will take place on 2 December.

England are competing to host the tournament in eight years time, as well as Russia and joint bids from Spain and Portugal and Holland and Belgium.

The Venezuelans are also locked on nine points with T&T and face Puerto Rico in their last game tomorrow which means that once the hosts and Haiti draw, or Haiti fail to get three points, T&T will be guaranteed of silver and will play for the gold as they currently hold a better goal difference than the Venezuelans.

Venezuela have won 4 matches and beat T & T.

4 x 3 = 12 points....

NEW YORK - The women's soccer tournament at the Central American and Caribbean Games has been resurrected and will begin Saturday in Venezuela with six teams .

CONCACAF initially withdrew its support of all soccer, men's and women's, in early July when inspections of the fields in the host country of Puerto Rico were determined not to have met minimum standards. But the Venezuelan Football Federation offered to stage the matches, which will be played at the 42,000-seat Estadio Metropolitano in Merida, Venezuela.

Although 10 teams originally were scheduled to play, entrants from Costa Rica, Guyana, El Salvador and Mexico withdrew, leaving Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela to compete for the women's title.

All but three of the original 10 teams in the men's competition: El Salvador, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, also withdrew, leaving officials with an insufficient number of sides to conduct a tournament.

The women's tournament will be run by a coalition of officials from the Venezuela federation, the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE) (Organizacion Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe) and CONCACAF.

Football / Re: Edwards Bid Accepted?
« on: August 27, 2009, 04:59:11 AM »
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that midfielder Carlos Edwards will join team-mate Grant Leadbitter for talks with Town. However, Bruce says he is unaware of any current Town interest in Nyron Nosworthy and Daryl Murphy.

Bruce says he has consented to the duo talking to Blues boss Roy Keane: "We have given both players permission to go and speak with Roy. We'll see what develops after that."

Reports in the North-East say that while a fee has been agreed for Leadbitter, talks between the clubs are still ongoing regarding Edwards but with a deal close.

Sunderland are yet to accept an offer from Town for Trinidad and Tobago international Carlos Edwards, according to reports on Wearside. The press in the North-East also claim Town are unlikely to be successful with their reported £7 million offer for four players.

While midfielder Grant Leadbitter is due for talks at Portman Road today after the clubs agreed a fee, the Black Cats have not yet accepted Town’s offer for Edwards, according to the latest reports in Sunderland.

Wha kinda league does Norway have? Wais dey standard comparable to? I eh know too much about them.

I live in Norway. Norwegian league is as good as Danish and Swedish league.

Jamaica got 4 NT players in Norway : Demar Phililps, Rudulph Austin, Luton Shelton and Oneil Thompson (Div2 ).

Costa Rica : Celso Borges and Christano Bolanos are regulars for NT.

Troy Perkins and Clarence Goodson , USA were in starting eleven in All Gold Cup matches.

If you are doing well in Norway then next stop could be England. Diouf and Riise was sold this month to Manu and Fulham from Norwegian clubs.
