Caledonia playing Marathon in Ato. I wonder if Shabazz organization have bus and taxi to take fans to Ato stadium. I know Couva  is not far, but you know how Trini stop, Oh gorm, Couva to far. Why this game not playing in HCS?

Caledonia hyped for Marathón

Caledonia hyped for Marathón
ttproleague.com

“We aren’t overawed by the situation,” made clear, Caledonia AIA Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz ahead of Wednesday’s Concacaf Champions’ League second group four match against visiting Honduran club CD Marathón from 8pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

“We may be naïve not to be fearful of this opponent, but it is on our doorstep,” continued Shabazz. “And we feel that we are going to go out there and take the game to them and play pressing and at times throw caution to the wind.

We want to get points, and we want to get a result. And what that tactic brings, we will see as the game goes on and also see how to adjust.”

Caledonia, the 2012 Caribbean Football Union Club Champions, suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to MLS outfit Seattle Sounders on August 2 in Washington and now remains in search of vital points as only the top team in the three-team group advances into the quarter-final round of the CCL.

“Of course we have a lot of respect for Honduras because they are one of the top countries in Concacaf, but this is an opportunity for us to put Trinidad and Tobago on the map. An opportunity for us to stay in the Concacaf Champions’ League and try to get out of the group stage for Caribbean and Trinidad and Tobago football, and from a social standpoint, for Morvant-Laventille,” shared the longstanding Caledonia TD.

“I saw them(Marathón) play against Jabloteh two years ago. And they are very good on the ball …movement off the ball and good attitude when it comes to ball possession and playing the nice attacking game.”

Shabaaz also commented on his team’s CCL debut match against Sounders saying, “I think it’s not a question of what went wrong. It was a first time experience for us in the Concacaf Champions’ League.

We started well against Seattle in the first fifteen minutes and then for some strange reason, no instructions from the bench to back off, but the players stared to back off. We allowed them a little too much room, particularly on the sides and our wingbacks having to deal with [one versus one] situations with some quick opponents such as the (Cordell) Cato boy and they created some chances which they scored. I think we settled down eventually in the second half and took the fight to them.

“We lost the first half 3-0 and won the second half 1-0 if we were to look at it philosophically. It was a good experience to learn and understanding the margin for errors playing at this level.”

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Shabazz: Caledonia must believe in itself
ttproleague.com

Caledonia remains in hunt for “vital” Concacaf Champions’ League Group Four points and will take on visiting Honduran club CD Marathon from 8pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Wednesday.

The 2012 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Champions were defeated 3-1 in their opening Group Four clash against Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders on Thursday 2 August in Washington.

With just one club advancing out of the 3-team group home and away series, Caledonia must rebound by earning much needed points.

Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz, who didn’t travel to Washington for the opening game, remains adamant that his side needs to believe in itself and the right of playing at the Concacaf level.

He said, “Of course we have to up our game but I think it’s more mental than physical. Technically and tactically we are up to the task, but we must believe in ourselves more and in our right to be playing at this level.

I believe in this Caledonia squad. They have created history for the club and we are going to push them to give all that they have in this game. It’s vital for us to pick up points.”

Caledonia AIA Team

Goalkeepers: Glenroy Samuel, Colin Ewards

Defenders: Aubrey David, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Nuru Muhammad, Walter Moore, Aquil Selby, Colin Nelson.

Midfielders: Kareem Joseph, Stephan David, Keyon Edwards, Abdallah Phillips, Trayon Bobb, Conrad Smith, Nathan Lewis, Kemron Purcell, Cornelius Stewart.

Forwards: Jamal Gay, Trevin Ceasar, Kerlon Ferguson, Sheldon Holder.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Crossing at all levels of T&T football is notoriously poor.

I can't believe Caledonia is Caribbean champs.....

Really poor football they playing....

Kick and hope brand with no idea what each player role is.

And Caledonia is just running up and down the wing and totally eliminating the center of the field.

Where is Theobald?

No central attack and no kind of good crossing.

I not even bothering to watch the second half.

This team play is really poor, I can't believe they won 4 cups last season.... makes me wonder how the other teams play..

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Too many chances to not have put one in.  I HATE when strikers stare at the shot and don't go at net for a rebound....we had a easy rebound chance if we had a striker following the shot.

Well like I said awhile back, my money is on W Connection....even though they let 2 points slip away..smh

I only watched the 2nd half but I now see why Cale has been so successful because even tho they play a poor unattractive brand of football they had the 3 best chances of the 2nd half.

reason for they style on football, shabazz seems to be focus on counter attacking football. seem to be holding a defensive approach then try to catch team on counter. it has work for them all season. but during the game saw sum decent play from time to time
