I don't rate Robinho as I used to ... too weak, too inconsistent and he whines too much

Mark Hughes playing the man as an out and out striker.  He too small to play as a target; he needs to get stronger for this league, because he will get roughed up, and will not get the calls he used to get in Spain.  Hughes needs to go out and buy a target striker  (a la Torres, Adriano, Ibrah, Berbatov) in January.  Robinho is a wide striker, or a man to play a roaming role behind the main striker.

Is Berbatov a target striker?

Can he not play all the way up top, and hold up the play?  Doesn't he do that?  He plays with his back against the goal very well, is big and strong, and can finish on his own too.

Ah wonder what Robinho thinking after watching the 'great' Manchester City who can be as big as Real lose to WBA to cement their position in the relegation zone? Ah wonder if Real starting to look good again? I will take bets that he will be on another team by 2010! Mark Hughes will be gone by next year.

It easy to go to a top team and play at a high level.

Robinho take a risk as a player, but certainly not financially. I still think that it is better for the league to have the best players on teams outside the top 4. Otherwise, what is the point as a fan? To dream of coming 6th?

I think Man City have potential, they need the right combination of coach and players. Probably should have kept Sven. Still though 3 points moves you from 18 to 13.

I hope Robinho stay and see out the task, don't punk out now. You took the money, now do the job.

It will be interesting to see how he  chooses to deal with this type of adversity. Right now no part of City's team playing well. It appears to be combination of struggling to deal with the heightened expectations including the manager, poor form, lack of depth or quality players.

Strange situation for the Man City players, the club is going on about big name players and how much tehy are going to spend etc.  It makes me wonder how many of the players are thinking they are going to be replaced anyway and are just going through the motions knowing they don't have a longterm future at the club.  I am not suggesting all the players are thinking taht but surely some must be and how much is it effecting the performances, there are rumours of jealousy and favouritism towards Robinho.

You then have to ask yourself how big a payday have the club got to make it for the top players to join given their present position and if there are wholesale changes how will that effect the team getting to know eachother, results and feelings of the present squad. It really is an unusual situation and it will be interesting to see how it pans out in January.  I suspect the club may change its targets to mostly players already playing in the Prem rather than mostly from abroad, to get them up the league quickly.

Robinho stands accused. Apparently the evidence was on the way to Rio he was singing in the airplane a Bob Marley tune "said I had to hit and run."  ;D

According to reports in the British press, Robinho has been arrested following allegations of sexual assault. He gave a DNA sample, as is customary in these cases, before being photographed, questioned, and finally released on bail.

It seems that the Manchester City forward was taken in for questioning in relation to an incident at a nightclub in Leeds on January 14.

An 18-year-old woman claims that she was sexually assaulted and the police have been speaking to the Brazilian international as part of a 'criminal investigation'.

Robinho has denied the accusations. His spokesman, Chris Nathaniel, released a statement on the player's official website reading: "We can confirm that Robinho met the police today, as pre-arranged and as part of a criminal investigation.

"He (Robinho) strenuously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to cooperate with the police if required further."

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed reports that a man was arrested and released on bail on January 27, but would not give details of his identity
