Whitley nets Petrotrin double, Tobago holds Jabloteh
By Randy Bando (ttproleague.com)Discarded Trinidad and Tobago World Cup midfielder Aurtis Whitley registered a second half double to guide United Petrotrin 3-0 over bottom of the table Police FC.
Whitley netted goals in the 56th and 64th minutes following a goalless first half against the Lawmen at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium on Saturday.
Kennedy Hinkson made it 3-0 in the 88th minutes giving the Oilmen maximum points in their Round Two Match Day Six encounter.
United Petrotrin remained seventh on the standings but are now with 20 points, three points behind sixth positioned Defence Force—who were on a bye—as the fight for Big Six spots get tighter.
And at a more central venue, San Juan Jabloteh were limited to a 1-1 score against ninth positioned Tobago United at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
Hector Sam’s 34th minute strike gave Jabloteh a 1-0 advantage which was held for 44 minutes, that’s when Kayode Mc Kinnon levelled the scores 1-1.
Jabloteh (now 28 points) moved up one spot on the standings via their one point, switching positions with Ma Pau SC(27 points) for third.
Joe Public(28 points) remain at the top despite not playing their scheduled match against tenth positioned FC SouthEnd on Saturday due to a no-show by the match referee.
Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille who suffered a 4-2 defeat on Friday against Ma Pau SC remains second with 28 points, behind Joe Public and ahead of San Juan Jabloteh by way of goals difference.
W Connection are fifth on the standings with 26 points following Friday’s 3-0 victory against eight positioned St Ann’s Rangers.
The rest of the standings are as follows; Defence Force sixth with 23 points, United Petrotrin seventh with 20 points, St Ann’s Rangers eight with 14 points, Tobago United gradually climbing with 11 points in ninth, FC SouthEnd with 10 points in tenth and Police FC struggling the worst with only 9 points in eleventh.
