Costa Rica & Mexico advance to FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007
Costa Rica and the host Mexico advanced to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 after defeating St. Kitts & Nevis and Jamaica, respectively, in the CONCACAF Final Round Qualification Group B at the Banorte Stadium in Culiacαn, Sinaloa on Friday.
The two Group B qualifiers join Panama and USA of Group A and the host, Canada in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup from 30 June 12 July.
Jose Luis Cordero, Pablo Herrera and Jean Carlos Solorzano all scored for Costa Rica (2-0-0, 6 Points) in the 3:2 victory over St. Kitts & Nevis (0-2-0, 0 Points) in the first encounter at the Banorte Stadium on Friday.
The qualification is the sixth for the ticos at the FIFA U-20 World Cups which is the most by any Central American Nation.
In the second Group B encounter on Friday, goals by Giovanni Dos Santos and Cesar Villaluz led Mexico (2-0-0, 6 Points) to a 2:0 win against Jamaica (0-2-0, 0 Points).
The tricolores will be making their 11th appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cups which is tied for the most by a CONCACAF team.
The CONCACAF U-20 Final Round Group B concludes on Sunday in Culiacαn, when St. Kitts & Nevis plays against Jamaica at 16:00 and then Mexico hosts Costa Rica for the quadrangular crown at 19:00.

From 1962 1996, CONCACAF staged 16 Under-20 Tournaments with a winner being crowned in each. Eleven of the CONCACAF tournaments (1976 1996) doubled as qualifiers to the FIFA World Youth Championships. In 1998, the U-20 CONCACAF event became a Final Round Qualification consisting of two groups of four, each in a different venue, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the FIFA Youth World Championship (now FIFA U-20 World Cup).
