Good luck... but sounding like ah smartman.

Just kidding... sounds like a great idea and a worthwile investment, wish I could help but all of my discretional funds tied up in a couple other ventures (and ah do mean woman and drink :D ) right now.
Haha, no worries. I'll fight to the bitter end no matter what - have no choice but to make or find a way.

Thanks for all the replies.

@Dutty: I do have some other material that I think is decent, but none of it is related to football like the soca warriors dedication. Anyway if things with the school miraculously work out there are so many others things I'd like to get into. One thing at a time though, may not even survive the first step.

Luckily it seems as though I will no longer need a loan from a bank in T&T, at least not right now. The CEO of a relatively large company here offered to help me get a loan through one of her subsidiaries.

This isn't anyone's problem here, but whatever I'll write it anyway. The main problem is I urgently need this money otherwise I'm literally facing bankruptcy. Urgent means this week or next week for the latest. This money is to complete the purchase of an English school in China. I've already poured all of my money into the initial deposit, but now I need to come up with the remainder or it's game over for me. If I wait for that loan to go through it will be too late - they need to do some background checks, risk analysis and so on. Not to mention that I still need to find a Chinese cosigner for the application. All of these problems can be solved, but not quickly enough. Why in the world would I put all my money into something without knowing how or if I could come up with the balance? Well, I believe this is the opportunity of a lifetime and for the last few years I have been trying in vain to see how to either open a school here or become affiliated with one. Teaching in China is what I am passionate about, and perhaps none of you can fully fathom just how enormous the market is with respect to English learning. Every student from primary school to high school needs to learn English and most parents are willing to send their children to lessons after school. For these and so many other reasons I really could not pass up this opportunity, it was extremely risky and most might say excessively silly to put everything I have into this, but the way we view things often changes with time and results. I just had no choice.

What's my point of writing all of this? Well, I'm hoping some kind souls here will be willing to lend me some money - any amount you can afford will be appreciated. As soon as my loan is secured I will return the money with interest, but nothing astronomical as the transition period after I enter the school will be a bit difficult. I have loads of experience with this sort of thing because this is more or less what I have been doing and involved in for the last 8 years.

In my desperation I even considered reaching out to some Trinis who have been successful, who seem like genuinely nice people and are possibly accessible. The first two people I thought of were Ato Boldon and Shaka Hislop. Haha, of course the point now is both how to get in touch with them and even if I were to why should they help me out?

That's enough of me pouring out my soul here… don't know what else to say, don't know what else to do. Everything is beyond my control now and all I can hope for is a second miracle. Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help out regardless of the type of assistance offered.

@davyjenny1:
Haha, naive or lacking common sense for sure, but my philosophy is that there is no harm in asking - sometimes the results or answers can surprise you.

@vb
Yes, in the long run it will, because I will arrange student groups who will travel to T&T.

4
I have not lived in T&T for the last 12 years. Is it at all possible to get a loan for a business? Even more concerning is that the business is based in China.

Thanks for any and all pertinent information.

Thought it might be better to edit this post to add this here. Mods please forgive me if I'm going against any rules in doing so.

For those of you based in Trinidad, do you mind sharing some details about your current internet connection?

I'm most interested in some things like speed, monthly price and company.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer.

Hey QWY u still around what's up brudder?

Yeah I'm still around.

Haha, I just don't post much...

Also ever since the last server move I haven't been online much as the website is unavailable in China. It's not blocked because of content though, but probably just because of the IP or something like that if it's on a shared server.

Thanks for the effort. The better team did not prevail in the semi-final, but that's football for you - 2+2 is not always 4. ;)

Anyway, I just wanted to start this thread to say that it has been a great season. I'm looking forward to more achievements next year.  :beermug:

Hmm, I was in my room watching the game in the early hours of the morning (I think it was already morning). I'm sure everyone else around me must have heard me celebrating our goal, then protesting the disallowed 'goal' and finally celebrating the final whistle!

The game was live in China, but because of the time difference it was either late at night or very early in the morning. I was too excited, so I can't remember exactly what time it was here. :P I'll never forget that day though, never!

Haha, I am from T&T and not China, but living in China.

I was looking for some old videos on another forum and was referred to this one by oconnorg.. he told me that maybe I could find what I was looking for here. I visit this forum quite often, but most of the time I just lurk in the background.

SUPA, don't worry about your questions, I'm not easily offended.  :beermug:

Italy vs. France should be the best match, unless Israel pulls off an upset. ;)

« on: September 08, 2007, 12:00:40 AM »
Going back to what was mentioned before about players who have never won a World Cup; some great players have never even played in a World Cup.

The first two that come to my mind are George Best and Ryan Giggs, and I think both of them have strong cases for inclusion in any HOF.

Dwight also has a strong case and I think he does belong there.

Football / Yorke to leave Sunderland?
« on: May 28, 2007, 10:43:58 AM »
Just read this from soccernet.com where they were speculating on who will be added and who would be leaving which teams. Here's a quote:

SUNDERLAND
ONE TO GET: Nicky Butt. The ex-Man United midfielder could be first on Roy Keane's transfer list to help keep the Black Cats in the Premiership. Another former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may also be of interest as his Old Trafford career looks to be on the slide.

ONE TO GO: Dwight Yorke. An important figure in Sunderland's promotion push, but surely another stint in the fast-paced Premiership will prove too much for the 35-year-old, even if he is playing in midfield these days. A lucrative move to the MLS, or maybe a move into coaching could beckon?  :o

This is not news, but just an opinion. What do you think? Personally, I don't think he will be leaving Sunderland. He may not see much playing time, but I would be surprised if he leaves.

OWT, is it possible to get downloads of the entire 3 games from you. The commentary you have on
the clips I have seen is way more exciting to what we were  presented....Thanks

I don't have the full games... just highlights. I'll update the original post with links to download the highlights. I'm not sure about in Trinidad, but I can't always access www.megaupload.com from in China (because of web-traffic restrictions).. so if it's a problem, let me know and I'll upload the highlights to another server.

I guess I might as well include the links in this post as well:
SWEDEN: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1X6MUNX4
ENGLAND: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V4I0VFH1
PARAGUAY: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=46A22Z0H

Thanks QWT.  Are you an ex-pat in China? or just visiting or just a non-Trini who enjoyed watching the T&T team?

Ex-pat

QWT...my simplified chinese is very rusty, but the quote at the end seems to say:

"onion, garlic, vegetables ... everyone loves different things".  Is this correct?

I guess it's a literal translation, but in general it means that everyone has their own taste.

Yeah you are correct, it more or less says "carrots, spinach(well green vegetables): different people like different things"
Anyway, I used Chinese so that people could interpret it different ways... haha I didn't expect too many people to know the meaning. (I was thinking that some people would assume that the chinese was some cuss words or the like)

Anyway, I updated the original post to include a download link.. please share the video.
