did anyone ever figure what was the reason behind that? tinto played a borse game and it seems when players shine under latas he does stifle them right after.

it made it look like tinto wasn't going according to plan when he score against mexico.

Just to clarify, does having a borse game simply mean scoring a goal? because after scoring that goal, as well taken as it was, Tinto had zero impact on the game, he was locked out of the game by the Mexicans thereafter.

my point being, after a player does well in the game, why was he benched the very next game. whether he got shut down for the rest of game, he still scored and made the team look respectable. what about the other players? they had no contribution to the score sheet which is what matters the most.

tt has players that can do the job, its the coach in charge that matters alot more and this has always been the case.

He was not dropped.

This is what happened in the next five games:
vs St. Kitts and Nevis - played the full game
vs El Salvador - unused sub. Glen, who took his spot, scored the winning goal
vs Honduras - came on for Silvio Spann, and played the entire second half
vs USA - was on the starting XI. substituted in the 66th min.
vs Costa Rica - came on in the 63rd min. for Keon Daniel

In any event, other than his brilliant goal, did he really have a stellar performance against Mexico?

In that game against Mexico Jones had 2 golden chances to win that game for us,he missed both as he usually did during Hex,he wasn't substituted though.I feel RL is using guesswork to run TT football, his refusal to call Birchall is hard to understand.

The man was unfit. He could only play a half at a time. That was why he end up being a bench player.

He has not played for us since dat Costa Rica game. But den again, he has never been a fixture on our national team. In de 8 1/2 years since he made his debut, he only has 24 caps and 5 goals. He was on de bench for de next game against Mexico, just as he had been for de Costa Rica game, but he wasn't used. Seeing dat he eh known fuh he fitness or work-rate, who knows if he woulda be able to cope in de Azteca. He also had an operation at the beginning of the 2009 season, so a pre-existing injury could have been a factor in him not receiving further call ups.

They call that selective amnesia lol .... but truth be told Tinto scored a cracker but was crowded out the ball alot... and really was a non entity after the goal as a matter of fact that's been his issue really ..... beat one lose it to the next man or get knocked off the ball .....knock break down  :(

i really like houton hector on the right wing instead of tinto, hector has ah better work rate and could put in ah better cross than both carlos and tinto put together.

I do admitt that he didn't under mind tinto, but he definately did darryl rpberts, hyland and jaggy. i feel latapy has his favorites, just like alvin and anton. that's why i don't like local coaches, when they run things too many good players does suffer, including latapy as we could clearly see.

This is the KEY thing ... the thread is about the player. Leh we NOT minimize the goal in in terms of its impact and significance for our collective psyche. Despite the fact that he overelaborated a fair deal, he showed a certain intent and disregard for the opposition. I agree: in a wholesome football environment Tinto could be nurtured ... both on and off the field.

How's he going to get in the shop window?

Tinto probably a Tottenham fan. Is it just me or does he look like a poor man's Aaron Lennon?? Same moves just less effective. Maybe it our standard, i'd like to at least see wat Tinto can do in the MLS (not Marvin Lee Stadium  :D)

would have to agree, however i could see a matured, controlled tinto in la liga, he has the speed but needs to work on endurance and knowing when to give up the ball
