Yorke Confirms Second Sydney Season

Dwight Yorke has confirmed that he will be back in Sydney for a second season with the A-League champions though his priorities currently lie elsewhere.

"Dwight will definitely be back in Sydney after the World Cup," the player’s agent Simon Bayliff said. "He loves Sydney , absolutely loves it. As soon as the World Cup is over he will be back as fresh as a spring chicken for the start of the next season. He is all good to go."

There had been fears that the 34 year-old would be offloaded by the club in an attempt to cut costs and while the issue was seemingly resolved recently, it is good news for the fans that the player is resolved to help the team defend its title.

The agent went on to dismiss rumours that the Trinidad and Tobago captain will go on loan in order to stay fit for the Soca Warriors’ first-ever World Cup.

"Dwight is not going out on loan to anyone and he joins up with the Trinidad team in a few weeks anyway. He is training with Manchester United and has been for four weeks. Then he is going to the World Cup."

With Yorke named in the squad he could be the only A-League representative on the global stage as it is unlikely that Australia ’s coach, Guus Hiddink will name any domestic players in the Socceroo roster.
