Adriano sent to Brazil to save career

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=482699&cc=5739

MILAN, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Inter Milan striker Adriano will attend a training camp in his native Brazil in a bid to regain full mental and physical fitness.

The 25-year-old, once the most feared striker in Serie A, has hardly featured for the last two seasons after battling alcohol and fitness problems.

'Adriano...will leave for Brazil where he will undergo several weeks of psychophysical training to regain peak physical condition,' said a statement on Inter's website.

'As agreed by the club, the player and his agent Gilmar Rinaldi, the Inter striker will train at a highly qualified centre in Sao Paolo.

'The common goal is to give the striker the possibility to undergo a period of specific individual training sessions. The period of training will conclude on January 1, 2008.'

Adriano was linked with a move away from the San Siro in the close season but refused to go out on loan despite interest from former club Parma and English club West Ham United.

The striker has since said he would be willing to go anywhere in the January transfer window with Italian media reports naming West Ham's Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City as possible destinations.

Adriano on six-month loan to Sao Paulo

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/7583962

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Brazil champion Sao Paulo has signed striker Adriano on a six-month loan from Inter Milan, the Brazilian team said Wednesday in a statement posted on its Web site.

Adriano will play for Sao Paulo in the Brazilian championship and Copa Libertadores, Latin America's premier club championship, the statement said.

Financial details of the loan, which runs through June 30, 2008, were not immediately available.

"I am very happy with this agreement, said Adriano, who will be introduced to Sao Paulo fans on Friday. "It will be an honor to help the team conquer titles. I will work hard for this goal and to return to the national team."

Adriano arrived in Brazil last month to undergo physical training and counseling with Sao Paulo.

At the time he acknowledged he is going through a difficult time but rejected accusations and rumors about drinking problems.

Adriano has played sparingly for Inter Milan since 2006, when his dad passed away and he was accused of having an excessive night life.

He was a starter on the Brazil squad that was eliminated by France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Germany, but has been called only once by coach Dunga since then.

Sad when this happens but not everyone can handle disappointment or success  :(
i would hope he does the Cantona here rather than the Diego ..... best of luck to Adriano although he took away a title from us at the death.
