A 27-year-old man of D'Abadie, Arima, is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate later today charged with unlawfully disposing of the body of Donnie "Dole" Maharaj.

The suspect was on Friday charged by detective Ameer Mohammed of the Region II Homicide Bureau of Investigations with burying Maharaj on a day between October 20, 2010 and July 13 this year, at Mendez Drive, Samaroo Village, Arima.

The man, police said, is a relative of Kelvin "Chicken" Gibbs, a known gang member and drug and gun dealer who was shot dead by officers of the Northern Division Task Force just over one year ago.

Maharaj, 30, of Francis Street, Five Rivers, Arouca, disappeared on October 20 last year after he left his home to meet someone at Five Rivers Junction.

His corpse was found last month by homicide investigators, including ASP Kenrick Edwards, and PCs Marvin Pinder, Mohammed and WPC Rachel Huggins, who conducted intense investigations into the incident.

An autopsy revealed he was stabbed in the chest.

The charges against the suspect came after Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard was consulted last week on the matter.

The suspect was held at a house in Mausica by officers of the Northern Division Task Force last Thursday and handed over to homicide detectives who had been searching for him and other suspects in connection with Maharaj's disappearance and murder.

Marvin Clovis, 28, of Mootoo Lands, Samaroo Village, Arima, is before Arima Senior Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes on a charge of murdering Maharaj sometime during the same period.
