BraveHart says, without hesitation, that the 23 for the opening World Cup qualifier Guatemala vs T&T game has been selected.
Needing at least 2 for each spot, with seasoned and new players having gotten a look and attitudes and talents mostly vetted, then putting the players in a 4-4-2 formation, possibly we could see the players below. Note the loss of vital Peltier seamlessly replaced by Caesar, the loss of Hughton Hector seamlessly replaced by Joevin Jones. Of concern not seeing 4 recently seasoned-in-the-position central defenders unless BraveHart calls back our previous number one defender Mitchell, without having seen him play live in several months:
Jan Michael , Marvin Phillip
AbuBakr, Yoh Marshall Sheldon Bateau, ?Carlyle Mitchell
Daneil Cyrus, Justin Hoyte Aubrey David, Mikeil Williams
Andre Boucaud, Hackshaw, Akim Andrews Khaleem Hyland, Kevan George
Trevin Caesar, Cordell Cato Joevin Jones, Ataullah Guerra
Kenwyn Jones, Willia Plaza Keron Cummings, Jonathan Glenn
Not showing enough ummph & hunger: Marcus Joseph. Might get selected: Gavin Hoyte, if Justin is not fit. Room for only 2 keepers. Select 3 if we get to go to World Cup. Rundell Winchester just missing selection but on immediate standby. Little Jones (Alvin) @ W Connection on standby as central defender for later in the qualification rounds. Shahdon Winchester on standby for attacking L wing or striker. Seon Power on standby for central defense if needed later in the campaign. Levi Garcia on standby for winger midfield as the campaign moves along. We miss Primus (the real deal) at L back but he apparently has not recovered. Julius James at central defense has been the unluckiest man to be injured over and over.

Guys, just remember, Cato can play RB also.

Guys, just remember, Cato can play RB also.
Most definitely, just like Carlos did. San Jose Earthquakes is definitely using him so. Our wing midfielders must be be able to run forward and back to cover at full throttle, to protect us from the classic central american wing overlap that will feed dangerous crosses into our box. Ataulla, I hope you are taking note and training hard as 75% fitness eh go work at this brutal level.
So let's use this opportunity to reinforce some drastic homework to be done : Remember, we must stop the crosses into our box.

Hart names his 22-man squad to face Guatemala on November 13th.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).
Trinidad and Tobago head coach Stephen Hart has finalized a 22-man squad for the 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala on November 13th at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City.
The team will depart for fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon for a training camp before flying to Guatemala City on November 11th,
The team captain is Kenwyne Jones and there is a recall for South Korea-based defender Carlyle Mitchell who has not played for T&T team since November last year.
“The Selection for the Guatemala game is a balanced one and it also allows for flexibility in our approach,” Hart told TTFA Media about the team selection.
“The camp in Fort Lauderdale will allow us a few days to work without scrutiny and we can simply concentrate on our approach to the game. Players will once again work on their roles & function and we can go over the details of potential scenarios,” Hart added.
Speaking about the environment he is anticipating in Guatemala with the team arriving there on November 11th, Hart said: “It’s a difficult environment and we want to minimize potential disruption with travel, hotel and training.
“This is World Cup qualifying and like it or not, host teams in general try to make it uncomfortable. Now I am not saying Guatemala will do this, per say, but their supporters will try to disrupt you mentally. The game itself will carry a certain stress, so our intention is to make the players as comfortable as possible.”
Hart mentioned that the team is subject to change for the November 17th World Cup qualifier versus the United States.
Meanwhile, The TTFA wishes to clear the air on a report on a local television station this morning which stated, that according to "top sources" National Senior Men's Team head coach Stephen Hart had resigned.
There is no truth to this. Matter of fact, Mr Hart is getting ready to announce his selection for the two upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala and United States.
Team
Goalkeepers
Jan Michael Williams (Central FC/Trinidad), Marvin Phillip (Morvant Caledonia United/Trinidad).
Defenders

Damn good selection. BraveHart and support staff have their perspective right.
All who look like they eh ferociously hungry, will have to stress theyself worrying how to make a comeback in the future.
Fight to get your spot back or be dumped for good. Take note Guerra.
Go Warriors!!
-
Seriously look at the headache to make the starting 11 in this team nah! Welcome back Mitchell! Pepper squad ah sayyyyyy
-
So let we start de predictions....my line up is :
Cyrus Bateau. Bakr/Mitchell. David
Ceasor. Cato. Cummings. Joevin
Glen. Jones
I like a 442 because the entire midfield have good attacking qualities and both strikers have a commanding size to draw in defenders thus creating space...Cato is play as a striker for earthquakes I think, Cummings had shown he scores, so does joevin and Ceasor very technical, neat and is beat men with his trickery and pace!
The defense is pretty solid and can hold there own with the midfield battling hard for possession and trying to press forward! I know we is say we go 'try' to get something on the road, but bravehart also say he doh ever play for a draw...and given all of our recent outings...all of them except Nicaragua was like away games and we put in work...
On that note Guatemala in for a serious fight!!!!

Ceasor. Boucaud/hyland/George Cummings. Joevin

seems more realistic with the names you have there

Hart: Guatemala a different side at home( T&T Guardian Reports)
by Shaun Fuentes
Published:
Thursday, November 5, 2015
“They will be a different side at home… Playing them in Guatemala City is a totally different affair to playing them anywhere else.”
That is the clear description of Guatemala coming from T&T head coach Stephen Hart ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifier on November 13.
And history tells a similar story.
On this country’s two previous visits to the Estadio Mateo Flores for World Cup qualifying matches, it has been an uphill battle for the “Soca Warriors. In its second match in the final round towards the 2006 World Cup in 2005, Guatemala put a sound beating on T&T, 5-1 with Carlos Edwards being T&T’s lone scorer. The T&T side in that match was led by Dwight Yorke and included the likes of Shaka Hislop, Angus Eve, Dennis Lawrence, David Nakhid, Kenwyne Jones and Stern John. Three months before that game, T&T also lost 4-1 to Guatemala in a friendly at the same venue.
The only victory for T&T in World Cup qualification at the Mateo Flores came in 1989 courtesy of a Kerry Jamerson 57th minute winner. Current senior team staff members Michael Maurice and Hutson Charles both played in that encounter.
In 2008, T&T needed to avoid a loss to stay in the race after both teams drew 1-1 in Port of Spain. Russell Latapy came out of retirement for this match and played in the first half to help T&T secure a 0-0 draw with the T&T team being applauded at the end by the Guatemalan fans. Cyd Gray had been sent off in the first half and John was ruled out of the contest by injury.
The stadium was filled to capacity some two hours before kick off and the T&T team was welcomed with loud jeers and boos from an estimated 28,000 fans. The team was also left waiting outside the stadium for some 20 minutes before gaining access to a training venue for a session a couple days ahead of the encounter
“It was a fantastic point for us,” Latapy said about the game.
“We showed a lot of character, determination and spirit to hold out with ten men. It was not the best surface which is conducive way we want to play football and the way we’ve always played football. But you have to adjust to whatever opponent you are playing against and surface you are playing on.
“It happens a lot in football and in players speaking to each other and I think Guatemala treated us with a lot of disrespect in terms of some of the things they were saying to us. The referee had a lot of wrong calls and homeside decisions and with us holding out said to me that we have beaten the odds here under really harsh and difficult and aggressive atmosphere. And we had to depend on nobody else.”
Come November 13, skipper Jones will be looking to weather the storm and steal the points.
Latchoo tries to lift football in Barrackpore
Barrackpore United Sports Club has engaged the services of national women’s football coach Rajesh Latchoo as its technical director for the ongoing TTFA NGC National Super League Championship Division season.
Latchoo, a former coach with Joe Public and head coach of the T&T women’s Under-15 and U-17 teams, has been overseeing the team since June. Through a partnership between Barrackpore United and Pro League outfit Morvant Caledonia United, Latchoo has been able to secure the services of ex-T&T and Caledonia AIA player Conrad Smith as well as midfielder Dwayne James who was a member of the T&T team during the 205 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
“There is a wealth of talent in these rural areas but often their lack of exposure and drive are often their downfall,” said Latchoo who is also a TTFA coaching instructor.
“Only the serious players show that appreciation for training and wanting to go to the next level. So as the window opened we kept the serious players and formed a partnership with Caledonia to prepare a couple of their reserve players for 2016 while we balanced the team with other experience players who were waiting to play pro league in January and needed to keep match fit for when they return to their respective Clubs, like Dwane James and Conrad Smith.
“My role at the club is to help the club owner Josh Dhanesar realise his vision of taking football to the next level in Barrackpore by helping to implement and maintain the right training environment and club structure. Most players from rural areas don’t get the exposure to a professional environment because of the distance they have to travel to reach that environment, so what Josh is doing is bringing that environment to them.
“Besides the senior team the Club has also started its own youth academy so that it can expose and prepare players for future teams.
Football in Barrackpore has a history with several domestic games being played on the old A-class Trintoc ground located near GP Road in the past. Teams such as X-Men Sports club have also drawn decent grounds at its Carat Hill home base while the Barracpore Secondary ground has been host to a vibrant Primary Schools League for schools in the area.
“The greatest challenge for most ‘country’ or zonal teams is the lack of commitment to training as they believe they can just show up to a game, play and win. The first thing people think of when they hear the name Barrackpore is cricket but football holds a special space here. At Barrackpore United. the management has done everything possible to make sure players can attend sessions and games by providing transport for the players to and from training,” Latchoo said.
Klinsmann wary of match fitness
United States head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has admitted that the fact that some of his players are not playing currently due to the end of their MLS season is a bit of a worry.
The US face St Vincent/ Grenadines on November 13 before traveling to Port of Spain to face T&T at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on November 17 at 7.30 pm.
The season has ended for seven of the eight starters that lost to Mexico in the Confederations Cup playoff recently.
“Either they didn’t make the playoffs or they just lost now in the playoffs in the first round,” Klinsmann said. “So that makes it tricky for us to keep them going until we meet up on November 8 for the St Louis game against St Vincent and the Grenadines. To give them training plans, to make sure that they keep going for players like a Jermaine Jones, a Kyle Beckerman, a Chris Wondolowski, a Mix Diskerud, a Lee Nguyen, and others is now really, really crucial because they are not playing games anymore prior to the World Cup qualifiers.”
Klinsmann added that he has had to evaluate players not currently starting for their overseas clubs.
“John Brooks is one of them and Ventura Alvarado is another one. So it’s tough for some of our players to get regular playing time and that influences our situation prior to the World Cup qualifiers. That’s just normal, but it’s sad to see because you want the youngsters to come through and to put a stamp on the team but they cannot do it if they sit basically on the bench in their club teams.”

Real selection headache, good job by Hart for doing this, de only thing is, we need a next keeper.
De man is de best thing happen to T&T football EVER !!!!!!Jan Williams Bateau Mitchell Cyrus Hoyte Joevin Hyland Cummings Boucaud Cato Kenwyne
Good line up
I think a 4-5-1 formation is necessary in for our away games... Qualification is the name of the game... Win yuh home games and play for a victory or draw in yuh away games.
Both 4-3-3 and to a lesser extent 4-4-2 formations are exciting , but as seen in past outings we are susceptible to giving up goals...

I like a 451 generally speaking, and yes gust in guat is a rel uphill battle...de only thing I don't like about that line up is hyland playing next to Cummings....boucaud is a defensive mid and so is hyland, but hyland to me don't seem to get the ball fwd and fall back as well as boucaud...boucaud does a solid job defensively and moving fed...where as hyland is more of a scrapper in the midfield and clumsy going fed...recently he has shown a lil improvement in that department tho...so let's see! Solid pick Sam!

Jones sounds Guatemala warning.
By Nigel Simon (Guardian).
Soca Warriors striker and captain Kenwyne Jones warmed up for this country’s opening 2018 World Cup Concacaf Semifinal Round Qualifier away to Gautemala by scoring in Cardiff City’s 2-0 win over Reading yesterday.
The headed goal by Jones from Joe Ralls’ free-kick, in the 44th minute was the first scored by a Cardiff player since October 3 while Matt Connolly doubled the lead as he nodded in from a corner in the 53rd, before David Marshall preserved the hosts’ clean sheet with several fine saves. The result sees Cardiff leapfrog Reading into seventh spot in the Championship, with 25 points from 16 matches, three points behind the play-off places.
The 31-year-old Jones was expected to link up with his T&T team-mates in Florida as they go into a live-in camp ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Guatemala at the Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City.
In Slovakia, national winger Lester Peltier played the first 77 minutes for Slovan Bratislava in its 2-1 win over FK Senica to stay second with 34 points from 16 matches on the Fortuna League table, four behind Trencin which has a match in hand. On Wednesday, Mikheil Williams and his Antigua Guatemala club edged Depotivo Mictlan 2-1 while in Mexico’s Yohance Marshall’s Murcielagos had a 1-0 win over Correcaminos de la UAT.
And in Belgium, Khaleem Hyland picked up a yellow card in bottom club KV Westerlo’s 2-2 draw with Waasland-Beveren.
Yesterday, Soca Warriors coach Stephen Hart, his technical staff and the quintet of locally-based players in Central FC’s Jan-Michael Williams and Willis Plaza, North East Stars’ pair, Kerron Cummings and Neveal Hackshaw as well as Morvant Caledonia United goalkeeper Marvin Phillip left via 12.30 pm flight for Fort Lauderdale for the training camp before flying to Guatemala City on Wednesday.
The USA-based Daneil Cyrus, Kevan George, Joevin Jones, Trevin Caesar and Cordell Cato, as well as Iceland-based Jonathan Glenn and Justin Hoyte and Andre Boucaud of English League Two club, Dagenham & Redbridge while the rest of the team will arrive today ahead of the camp which gets going on tomorrow.
Today, Sheldon Bateau’s Krylya Sovetov Samara, 11th on the table faces 12th placed Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League. In the Denmark First Division’s Radanfah Abu Bakr’s HB Koege, third from bottom faces Fredericia and in Kazakhstan Aubrey David’s Shakhter Karagandy clashes with Okzhetpes in a relegation playoff match.

Soca Warriors kick off camp.
T&T Guardian Reports.
Soca Warriors coach Stephen Hart kicked off the T&T senior team training camp with a light shift yesterday morning and followed it up with a complete session in the evening period at the Sawgrass Grand training facility in Fort Lauderdale, USA.
The “Soca Warriors” will be based in Florida until Wednesday as they engage in preparations for their opening 2018 Fifa World Cup Concacaf Semifinal Round Group C opener away to Guatemala on Friday, from 7.06 pm (9.06 pm TT Time).
The home-based players, along with Kazakhstan-based defender Aubrey David and US-based winger Trevin Caesar, arrived from Port-of-Spain on Saturday for the camp at the facility which was also used ahead of the 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup.
T&T teams have also been based here in the past including the build-up to the 2005 World Cup qualifier away to Guatemala and then in 2006 under Dutchman Leo Beenhakker after the team had already qualified for the 2006 Fifa World Cup Finals in Germany.
The other players already at the camp include Chicago Fire duo Daneil Cyrus and Joevin Jones, San Jose Earthquakes forward Cordell Cato, Mexican-based defender Yohance Marshall and forward Jonathan Glenn who joined locally-based goalkeepers Jan Michael Williams and Marvin Phillip, Keron Cummings, Willis Plaza and Neveal Hackshaw who flew in from Port-of -along with members of the team staff. Team captain Kenwyne Jones, who netted for Cardiff City in their 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday, arrived late yesterday afternoon with some of other overseas-based players. Cardiff boss Russell Slade, in his delight while commenting after the win, said he would prefer if Jones did not have to travel for the match.
“I’d rather Kenwyne Jones stay in Cardiff. I expect him to go away for ten days now but if I was to be selfish then I’d rather him stay,” Slade said.”
Hart said was keen to get on with the preparations over the next few days.
“Of course it’s vitally important to regroup and get our focus going again ahead of the Guatemala match. We’ll use thee next couple of days to put things into perspective with regards to how we will play the match and just getting everyone into the correct frame of mind and ensuring that we are ready to go for the start of the campaign,” Hart said. Soca Warriors assistant manager Peter Rampersad will travel to Guatemala City today (Monday) to oversee all arrangements with the hotel, ground transportation and training facilities prior to the team’s arrival there.
Yesterday, T&T defender, Sheldon Bateau was an unused substitute in Krylya Sovetov Samara’s 2-0 loss to Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League while in the Denmark First Division’s Radanfah Abu Bakr’s HB Koege edged Fredericia 2-1; and in Kazakhstan Aubrey David’s was not in the 18-man Shakhter Karagandy squad in its 1-0 loss against Okzhetpes in a relegation playoff match.
And on Saturday, defender Carlyle Mitchell back in the T&T squad after a long absence played 76 minutes for Seoul E-Land FC in a 1-0 loss to Gyeongnam in the Korean League Challenge. For today’s second day of the camp, Hart is expected to have a full squad of players.

Warriors step it up.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).
Trinidad and Tobago skipper Kenwyne Jones resumed training with the national team on Monday morning after making a successful return to play following a short injury lay off last month.
Jones had been sidelined for just over two weeks after suffering a shin injury in the international friendly with Nicaragua at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. He scored a first half goal to help Cardiff City to a 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday before jetting off to the United States early on Sunday.
He joined the T&T team in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday night along with Dagenham and Redbridge midfielder Andre Boucaud, winger Lester Peltier, Belgium-based KVC Westerlo midfielder Khaleem Hyland and South Korean based defender Carlyle Mitchell.
All five players took part in the session at Sawgrass Grand on Monday morning. Guatemala-based defender Mekeil Williams joined the camp on Monday afternoon while Russian-based defender Sheldon Bateau, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Justin Hoyte and Kevan George were all expected in later in the day. George’s Columbus Crew advanced to the MLS Eastern Conference Final after defeating Montreal 3-1 on Saturday.
Hart led the team through double sessions on Monday under sunny conditions on a lush outfield at Sawgrass.
“The field is in immaculate condition and ideal for our preparations,” Hart told TTFA Media. “The facility really has the makings of what you need for a training camp like this. And by tomorrow we should have the full team together but so far with the players here we’ve had a couple good, intense sessions and the players have responded quite well.
Obviously it’s good to have Kenwyne in at this time. He is the leader of the team and therefore he brings that added presence. But generally all the players here have responded well to what we’ve asked of them,” Hart added.
Forward Jonathan Glenn spoke about the camp, saying the “Warriors” were gearing up for the contest in Guatemala City on Friday.
“It’s been going good so far. The guys are fully focused and giving it our all in practice here in Fort Lauderdale. It’s very crucial that we get a good start to set the tone and go on to advance to the Hex.
“We’re just really ready to go out and get a result. I have a one hundred percent confidence in the guys to go there and get it done. We know it will be tough but if it was easy, then anyone could achieve this so we know we have to go there and work for the right result,” Glenn said.
Meantime, Hart was interviewed by CONCACAF.com on the weekend, and spoke of the importance of getting into the final round next year.
“The objective is to get in the Hex,” Hart told CONCACAF.com, referring to what is widely-known moniker for the final round of qualifying CONCACAF. “If you do your business at home and hope to get some points on the road, you should be able to get in.”
He touched on the November 17th home clash with the United States.
“We will see a different United States team,” he said. “They will be a team that is completely different from what we have seen in the last few outings. However, we have to take advantage of the fact we are playing at home.”
“The main thing is not to panic with the opening two games because there is a huge break between these games in November and March,” the 55-year-old added. “That’s the most important thing.”
Tickets (priced at $300 and $150) for the upcoming World Cup qualifier versus the United States remain on sale at Sports & Games (nationwide), The Fan Club (Movietowne, Trincity and Gulf City Mall), Ramsingh’s Sportworld (Couva), Sportway (Ellerslie Plaza and Gulf City), Heritage Sports (Tobago), Fan Zone (Centre City Mall, Chaguanas) and online at www.islandetickets.com Gates open at 4pm on matchday with kick off set for 7:30pm. I echo the same sentiment. Sessions look lively and the squad seems a bit more relaxed (away from home). That being said, I hope this confidence can be replicated at home, because of late, the team has been playing a bit more tentatively.

Haven't seen Mitchell in a while and I wasn't impressed with what I saw of Cyrus in central defence at Chicago. That being said, I trust SH will pick the best pair for the job.

Warriors off to Guatemala for opening world cup qualifier.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).
Trinidad and Tobago’s senior men’s team is expected to arrive in Guatemala City just after midday on Wednesday ahead of their opening affair of the CONCACAF semi-final stage of 2018 World Cup qualification at the Estadio Mateo Flores on Friday from 7:06pm (9:06 pm TT Time).
Captain Kenwyne Jones and his teammates had their final work out at the Sawgrass Grand in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday evening with the full compliment of the 22-man squad engaged in training in the two sessions overseen by Stephen Hart and his staff on the last day of the live-in training camp.
Except for a light shower on Sunday morning, the “Soca Warriors” have trained under sweltering heat here but they have not been alone with Panama also training under similar conditions at Lockhart Stadium the United States team at Barry University ahead of their respective opening World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica and St Vincent/Grenadines on Friday.
Hart summed up the training camp on Tuesday, saying he was pleased with the way things have gone.
“It’s the first session today (Tuesday) we’ve had with everybody because of travel and so on and I thought it went well. The mood was nice, very upbeat and when necessary, it’s been jovial. But it’s been a very concentrated and very intense training so far. We have one more this afternoon which I will demand the same from them, positionally and collectively. Then we travel tomorrow. (Wednesday morning),” Hart told TTFA Media on Tuesday.
Commenting on the return of defensive duo Justin Hoyte and Carlyle Mitchell, he said: “Carlyle trained well but you can see he is very jetlagged. Justin looked very sharp in the sessions.”
Hart concluded by speaking on he intends to see through the next couple of days and what his approach has been like this week with regards to preparing for the opponent.
“We are always discussing in every training session based on what we know of Guatemala but not overly concern about their game. My main concern when I’m talking to the players is about being in control of their own game, how they approach play, being tidier with the ball and how we recover the ball. But tonight we will also look at a video of the game about Guatemala, just go over things in our mind, mentally and collectively of how we will approach the game and what we will expect, of course we don’t know what to expect down in Guatemala, but in terms of what we expect on the field,” Hart said.
Also looking ahead to the clash on Friday with a huge amount of interest is Guatemalan-based defender Mekeil Williams. The former W Connection player has three club teammates who are on the Guatemala national team in defender Jose Pinto, 33-year-old midfielder Fredy Thompson and reserve goalkeeper Victor Ayala.
“I can tell you that everyone back in Guatemala and at the club is talking about the game. We have to be mentally strong and well prepared for it,” Williams said.
“There are three players in my club who are on the Guatemala team and they have been telling me a lot of about the game. The coaches are all taking about it. They have the home advantage so it’s obviously not going to be easy for us.
“I know they will try their best to make it as hard as possible for us but I have a lot of confidence in our squad and I think once we settle down and we remain focus then we can leave there with a result in our favour,” he added.
Tickets for the upcoming World Cup qualifier versus the United States remain on sale at Sports & Games (nationwide), The Fan Club (Movietowne, Trincity and Gulf City Mall), Kenny’s (POS) Ramsingh’s Sportworld (Couva), Sportway (Ellerslie Plaza and Gulf City), Heritage Sports (Tobago), Fan Zone (Centre City Mall, Chaguanas) and online at www.islandetickets.com Gates open at 4pm on matchday with kick off set for 7:30pm. Over 20,000 for Guatemala clash.
T&T Express Reports.
Head Coach Stephen Hart is scheduled to oversee a final training session at the Estadio Mateo Flores, in Guatemala City, tonight ahead of the Soca Warriors clash against Guatemala in their opening match tomorrow night in the semi-final round of CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Trinidad and Tobago’s senior footballers were scheduled to touch down in Guatemala City at 2 p.m. (4 p.m. T&T time) yesterday, after departing Miami at the end of its training camp.
Word on the ground is that an estimated crowd of 20,000 is expected to fill the stadium, fully behind the host team which is looking to force a win over the “Soca Warrior” following their 3-1 blowout at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The encounter will be a significant test for T&T which last won a World Cup qualifier at the venue in 1989.
Russian-based defender Sheldon Bateau says the T&T squad is ready for the steep challenge.
“Definitely there will be some nerves as we know it’s always difficult going to these countries and for most of the players it will be the first time playing a World Cup qualifier in Guatemala. But we have enough experience within the group to cope with this kind of situation. We just have to focus on our game and the task at hand which is getting a result. I think we are ready for whatever they throw at us,” Bateau told TTFA Media.

Bateau says ‘Warriors’ ready for Guatemala.
T&T Newsday Reports.
Russian-based national defender Sheldon Bateau believes the Soca Warriors are ready for the steep challenge against Guatemala in their 2018 World Cup qualifier tomorrrow.
The Soca Warriors arrived in Guatemala City at 2 pm (4pm TT Time) yesterday after departing Miami at the end of their training camp.
Head Coach Stephen Hart took his players through a final training session at the Estadio Mateo Flores, the venue for the encounter, late yesterday evening.
Word on the ground is that an estimated crowd of 20,000 is expected to fill the stadium, fully behind the hosts who are looking to rebound following their 3-1 loss to TT at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The encounter will be a significant test for TT who last won a World Cup qualifier at the venue in 1989.
Asked whether he thinks TT can come away with two favourable results against Guatemala and the United States next Tuesday, Bateau replied “Definitely yes; with the squad we have, the experience, athleticism, chemistry and the results of the last few games even though you can’t really judge too much based on the past.
I think we just need to put everything into these two games as we’ve done before and even more and we can come away with two positive results,” added the former Jabloteh player.
Bateau will like to see a filled Hasely Crawford Stadium on Tuesday.
“I hope we can have a full stadium on Tuesday because as far as I can remember, whenever we played the US and I was there as a fan, the stadium was always filled when players like Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy were around.
I would like to see that again.
We need to make it our home territory and the fans need to play their part and be the extra man for us,” he added.

Sam's trip 7 years ago ;D It's interesting to see their top 3 players were the same back then and how much our team has changed.
October 14, 2008
Just came back from Guatemala.
Had a fight with a bunch of Guatemalans, that was de most hostile crowd I have ever witness in a football game LIVE.
We had to be moved to the VIP section for our safety and de fence that was blocking us almost came down because them men jumping like monkeys on it trying to break it down, they was spitting on us and call us niggers and all sort of racial names. De police had to stay with us right through.
We have to start treating them the same way they treat us when they visit T&T.
After de game I had to beat up two men who hit one of my pardna, but we had to run because ah whole posse came down after we..... they was vex.
Went to a bar after the game and met some very pretty women who was very friendly, they said according to de TV news Guatemala was expecting to beat us 5-0 and now they sour.
Guatemala put on a nice half time show, never knew they had so much nice women there. I was amaze, fat tuntun, camel toe all kinda thing, you name it. Meh totoe start to hurt meh for standing 24 hours straight. I had to take them two thing in de bar ah meet and blaze them like ah just come outta jail. Price was cheap too. Them was real friendly, young, young girls like 10 or 11 begging for us to come in they house with them when we walking down de streets, I run fast.... we, no jail bait thing on my menu. Ah bend ah thing backwards and make she tuntun fart... is pressure in they ass....
Anyhow, to de game, I am impress with de fight, but that Ramirez fella is ah boss and T&T keep backing off him, he was Hot ras, never know Guatemala had ballers like that. De man take about 10 shots on T&T goal in a 10 mins period from de top of de box and T&T allowing this man space. Papa and Romero was good to, Guatemala real had we busy in de second half boy, we real lucky, Ince, Lawrence and Birchall real save we.
De thing I dont understand is why we allow teams to dog us for such long periods.
Fellas, Keon Daniel hit ah man a beat I almost dead ras, that young boy have a future, trust me. De man change de game when he came on and no Guatemala players was handling him unless they foul him. Anthony Wolfe to, if he keep up the way he playing he could go somewhere, nice hustle. I was worried when I saw Keon warming up because I know he weak in defence, but nah, boy, he impress me.
Chris Birchall is a must, de man is ah iron horse and my man of de match, he have ah sweet bullet that went over bar... he real fight de game boy, from start to finish.
Latapy look good to, hit ah man a beat, ah say yes, de ole still have some juice and could have played more if we wasn't down to 10 men. I chat with Latas for about 5 mins and he seems like he unsure from de TTFF about de coaching assistant. He want it real bad, but like they taking him for a ride, he didn't say it directly, but you can see it in de man face, something not right. We need players like him around de team, he have he head on. And he can still play good ball even at this level. I taught Latapy and Yorke would have been a mistake to start together, but it was not so, they look good but I guess Birchall allowed them to operate freely because he was picking up the slack.
Edwards real let men down with that miss, but thank gush he didn't score or else we woulda be dead all now, we woulda have to run for we lives in de stand. And yuh know me, me eh running, so they woulda even eventually get me.
Ince real play ball to.
Lawrence is we best defender.
Gray deserve de first yellow. De second one he should not have gotten. But I find he standard drop a little though.
Avery hit ah man a blade in de penalty area, I was scared, but no call. Because of Wolfe Avery looked more calm.
Scotland have a nice first touch, but he pace real slow, he should take more shots on goal he would score because he strong.
Thank gosh Makan Hislop didn't play, he them GUA striker woulda eat him up because he slow and inexperience.
USA is a more technical team, so we have to beware, even with a small side they still good.... and they look to work on the wing. So Wolfe and Edwards may start and Daniel play central, something so, but all three players are good to go. Especially Daniel and Wolfe and if Edwards get more support he will do even better.

I'll be very happy with a draw in Guatemala.
Ecstatic if we actually win the game.
Guatemala is a difficult place to play. Everywhere in Central America is.
My best memory of us playing in Guatemala is when we beat them 1-0 with Kerry Yamerson (according to the commentator) scored the lone goal to poison dem in 1989.

Yo Sam is this true? I almost dead with laughter.. not laughing at you or the experience.. but the way you told the story reminds me of a scene in one of them English football films. One thing to remember is that Guatemala is one of the most violent countries in Central America. They are in the top 10 for the most murders committed. Some of dem is probably affiliated with ms13.. They does carry the hammer all the time. Is a good thing you run.. they probably would have killed you.
I agree with making HCS a hostile environment for the central american opposition. But I dont agree with the violence.. It will spoil the game.

Kick Off Time as Warriors open 2018 World Cup campaign.
T&T Guardian Reports.
T&T’s Soca Warriors will be looking to capture maximum three points in their opening match of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualification when they face off with hosts Guatemala at the Estadio Mateo Flores from 7.06 pm (9.06 pm T&T time) tonight.
The match will be one of several throughout CONCACAF as semi-final round action gets on the way with fellow group rivals United States hosting St Vincent/Grenadines in St Louis in the other match of interest for the “Soca Warriors”.
The T&T team arrived in Guatemala City just around 3 pm local time on Wednesday and were greeted by a barrage of Guatemala media outside the La Aurora international airport.
Stephen Hart conducted a light session at around 6 pm at a nearby artificial surface pitch which was the only one made available to the visitors with lights. And the temperature dropped to 20 degrees Celsius the evening progressed.
Hart, however, did manage to oversee a more impactful session yesterday morning on a natural grass surface before putting his team through a short session at the match venue in the evening period. “We landed here and it’s been a bit of a hike to get to the training facilities but they were decent. The main thing now is to keep our minds focused on the game and not let little things affect us,” Hart said.
Hart said he held an important discussion with the players and told them that everything they did at the Gold Cup and in the past was no longer relevant. “This is a brand new Guatemala, this is a brand new scenario and I just put them in that frame of mind,” Hart added.
Skipper Kenwyne Jones has been a big talking point in the Guatemalan press, with several queries from them about whether he is fit to play. The Cardiff City forward said he’s feeling fine and ready to lead his team. “Things are running smoothly. We are trying to iron out the final bits before we go into the game. We had two great sessions and just trying to get a feel for over here,“ Jones said.
“This is a totally different competition. It’s not going to be easy for us here in Guatemala. We know what to expect when we come to these Central American countries and they are going to have that twelfth man surely rooting for them. And they are going to come hard at us seeing that we beat them in the Gold Cup.
“It’s a bit more technical and tactical for us especially when we come away from home. We are going to try to do the things we plan to and try to come away with the three points.
“I feel great at the moment. The players are all training very hard and keeping each other on their toes,” Jones added.
Defender Radanfah Abu Bakr is also keen ahead of the encounter. “I’m looking forward to it and the camp is quite positive and we are confident we can do well in this hostile environment. It’s World Cup qualifiers and it’s a different animal this time around,” said the former Caledonia AIA defender.
The Guatemalans are smelling blood and will be gunning for Jones and his men after being blown away in the first half in July at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
“We have more knowledge of T&T now, they've grown a lot since the Gold Cup, but we also have our own growth, we will now look at who is better able to face them. I know more or less how they attack, we have also seen them at least in the last five games. We have to win, play well or badly, but we have to try to win, not here but everywhere, to go to the World Cup you have to beat everyone,” said their head coach Ivan Sopegno. The hosts will look to veteran Carlos Ruiz and Marco Papa to lead their attack on the night.
T&T have not won a World Cup qualifier in Guatemala since 1989 when the Strike Squad defeated the homeside 1-0 on a Kerry Jamerson winner. Hart will have all 22 players at his disposal today with 11 reserves allowed to sit on the bench.

Road to Russia World Cup begins.
By Alvin Corneal (Guardian).
It seemed almost like yesterday that the Germans were showing the world how good they are on the football field. The years leading up to the finals in Brazil had its moments of doubt mainly through the various problems which existed in the host country. Added to that, the uneasiness which crime had brought to the citizens.
The same may be the case for the Russians leading up to their finals in 2018. Already FIFA has been challenged by some countries who felt that the choice of the host country was based upon a series of illegal acts of bribery and vote selling among the 209 countries which constitute the member associations.
In a nutshell the issue brought several executive members of the federation of international football to be arrested, some under investigation, and the job of the US, and Swiss investigators have not yet completed their search for more culprits who may have been involved in crimes which have been identified. Nevertheless, the Soca Warriors have no real problems concerning these issues, and the focus lies squarely on the shoulders of Stephen Hart and his squad.
After a few days in camp in Florida before they travelled to Guatemala for their opening match, preparations are now in order with all the top players fit and raring to go. Everyone is now confident that the consistency which the team showed throughout the Gold Cup tournament and their two friendlies will run directly onto the stadium in Guatemala City.
Team tactics will be the most essential factor, especially when the match is played away from home.
Those who have had the experiences of playing against Guatemala amidst their home crowds will know that their fans make demands on the players to perform at their best, a feature which sometimes become so intense that there is a tendency that the shouts and chants during the match tend to influence the officials.
But, honestly, Guatemala at this time have not shown the quality of play during their qualifying series. They have had some poor results and the only teams they have really defeated recently are Bermuda and Antigua and Barbuda. They looked good in patches while in the USA, but not enough to match strides with the more advanced opponents.
It is my sincere belief that this Warrior’s squad possess the most talented bunch of players this country have produced since the German World Cup. The benefit of these guys will have come from the fact that most of them have been playing abroad in countries where professionalism is a behaviour and when you have to retain your positions in the clubs of Europe and the US, the attitude which we see so often when they are with their clubs will have sent the message to our lads.
Personally, I believe that we are better equipped than our opponents and the extraordinary ability of players like Khaleem Hyland, Andre Boucaud, Joevin Jones and Trevin Caesar will haunt the defence of the host country. It is difficult to stop the speed and skill of our wing midfielders and they have created many goal scoring opportunities during the Gold Cup.
We have a solid defence regardless of the four that are chosen, although I would like to see the quartet of Daneil Cyrus, Sheldon Bateau, Carlyle Mitchell and Mekiel Williams at the start. The key to the selection process has to be the guys who are excellent competitors throughout the matches and their desire to stay focused will be of paramount importance to each other.
Victory will put a scare on the USA on Tuesday, especially as they are well short of the talent which they had a few years ago. The Warriors must provide this country with an excellent start to the World Cup journey and together we shall all move in unison towards Russia.
-
At some point in the World Cup campaign we will have to win in Central America if the goal is to qualify for the World Cup. So the thought of just settling for a draw does not sit well with me. Goes back to the older heads acceptance of mediocrity from our sportsmen. Reminds me of the people who are happy and content when we 'almost make it'.

Jah! Hoss why yuh doh hush yuh c0nt wit dis tired ole bullshit about accepting mediocrity?!! If you don't like what is being said you have a free pass to bypass. You alone in the desert. I am sure everyone in here knows YOUR stance, which is one of acting like an immature child :D

You know what I cannot understand for the life of me ? The press officer has one job to do, provide information to the press who relay it to the public. You telling me he could not include in the match preview which is all over the local newspapers that the game will be LIVE on channel 99 ? Many people in Trinidad do not know the game is showing.
I can only imagine how angry FLOW are. They are providing the service yet the TTFA cannot inform the public and it comes down to one person to do that.
Madness honestly.

on another note. did anyone notice that we not only had a camp in the united states, but there was no problem with hotels and travel arrangements since the government changed?
and there are people saying that they don't want timkee as president, but as long as timkee is the federation president, expect a hassle free 5 years of government funding with no quarrel.
and for that reason alone i endorse timmkee for the federation president the next six years and counting.
brent sancho must feel like such a fool.

i could be wrong, but i like the way how timkee don't meddle in the coaches business and give the staff free sheet to run the football, unlike the other presidents in the past who didn't like players and got in the coaches way of selecting the best players.
could you remember when there was ever a time when our team was about play, that there was no issues with money or player eligibility?
i think timkee is the best man for the job ATM, he will have no problem getting funding from the government, and for the first time there's no political adversity where the football is concerned.

The Canadian referee is not controlling the game. He is allowing too many rough fouls.
-
Same old dirty Guatemala with all de fouling and off de ball antics.
-
Guatemala playing real stink :cursing: Come on Warrios we can get 3 points tonight.

We need to play their game. Hyland needs to put in some crunching tackles in midfield and hold his position

We can't go to these parts of CA and just think we should win just like that,Guatemala also have 11 players who can match ours,we also cannot go and concede a goal early on.Our main aim is no to lose, but look for openings which would come, and take advantage, losing is going to put us in trouble too early in the qualifying stages. Our approach seems to be conservative, and that is the best way,he return in TT most likely will be different. At worst get a draw, and tek a point home.

I was getting visions of that match we drew with El Salvador or Guatemala after being up 2-0 a few WCQ'ing campaigns back. It was the match in which Stern John missed a penalty which would have put us up 3-0.
This time, we were not burned because Guatemala left it a little too late to pull a goal back.
However, there is some room for improvement in terms of clock management with a lead late in the match.
Nevertheless, there was no misfortune on this Friday the 13th for our warriors.

:wavetowel: :wavetowel:
We made the last few minutes kinda rough but congrats to the team on the win!
I was impressed that we added the second goal, that was kinda unexpected.
A two-goal lead on the road is a rarity for us as far as I can remember.
Two very good goals.
Capitan KJ with a sweet finish to do the pass justice.
I see from the match stats we only had two shots on target.
That's a pretty good goal return but we have to make more chances.
Three points ladies and gents, congrats!
-
Love the fight. Not a trait normally associated with T&T. But it was great to see the true Warrior Spirit
-
big big 3 points, the road to red square just got a little closer, and Guatemala's goal was a gift from tnt, nobody tackle nobody move, now on to the biggest game ever in the history of tnt football...
-
I think you have to give Hart the credit he deserves. He has taken a broken down, fixer upper of a team and transformed them into a fighting unit. Especially considering the mess of an organisation the TTFA is, he's had a lot of obstacles to overcome. Hopefully , the warriors can get the proper financial, administrative and fan support they need to make the push for Russia. And let's not forget our female warriors either.

Wouldn't be a tnt squad if the last 10 minutes is nerve-recking. Guate goal was super scrapyard... it's like the entire performance was replaced in the final moments to meh..low end stuff after all the quality and discipline throughout
Ref- Didn't do tnt any favors tonite - this is how Guate plays at home very physical he let them do that and get away with more than normally as if his life depended on it!
Other thoughts - I enjoyed the first 80 minutes! It was a good showing and it looked like the team we're well prepared mentally and physically for the game. I thought bringing Lester back into the starting was a good boost for his confidence, we need that player back on his best for sure. Plaza always so important to the squad because of his high workrate and energy. :beermug: :beermug:

Jam losing 2-0 at home , USA spank SVG , and Haiti down on the road 1-0 . Not a good night for our CFU brothers.

Good game.. Congratulations socawarriors, Hart and the rest of the crew
-
Congrats to the team on a hard fought and earned 3 points!! A pity we switched off at the end and conceded but 3 valuable ponts in the bag.
Now we need our first home win for as long as I can remember against the USA in WCQs this coming Tuesday in front of a packed stadium.
Please T&T public we need you to be the noisey 12 man this Tuesday and to support this team with warrior spirit and pride because if we win our all our home games especially the one this Tuesday against the USA then that should see us being one of the top teams in the group and hopefully reaching the Hex.
-

• Comfortable in possession from back to front
• Comfortable dealing with the barrage of crosses from Guatemala
• Lethal on the counter
• Defending higher up the pitch with a Kloop-like press

Congrats to T&T socawarriors ...We have one of the best teams in the Concacaf...nobody will take us lightly after this result..I didn't see the game but I am not surprised by the result..
I don't feel Klinsmann is nowhere near Hart's ability as a coach, tactician and leader...
We have a strong chance of qualifying for Russia even if we don't make it.... Hart is top class.

i would be a liar if i said that this goalkeeper doesn't bother me a great deal especially when we have a lead. than man does save some hard shots and let in some idiot goals, i often wonder where's his head at.
we have a solid team especially going forward, but we need a good right back and a solid goal keeper in the near future. cyrus and jan is lunatics and somehow how concentration and makes silly mistakes for no reason. these fellas needs to concentrate for 120 minutes.

-
One point out of we first two games would have been par for the course.
we done have 3 with a game to spare.
We need to give a good performance vs the USA.
Then Beat Vincy Heat Home and away in March .
That will put us on 12 -9 points which will be good enough to go through (historically)
The important thing now is to play well and continue to build the squad.
The Hex is another kettle of fish
As a team we need to continue to improve if we are going to do well in the hex
-
Great fighting Warriors and 2 unbelievable goals in this nerve racking cat and mouse football
This will help with the nerves as it was hard to play fluid football
Three points. Yum yum. Thank you captain Kenwyn, Hyland, Spider-man Jan, Coach BraveHart and all the others

dis team always had a 3-4 point possibility IMHO, they have been that good, won't be surprised if we manage to get 6pts, optimistic hell yes,
doable hell yes........pragmatic optimism is what we need, if there is such a thing
-
Great win guys. Onto the next one i.e. (the once mighty) USA. We can take their scalp I believe.
I have to agree with an earlier post where everyone put in a really good shift except Peltier. He hasn't for a long time and he's in danger of being cut (like Guerra) when players like Hughton Hector and Molino are fit again.
Also the substitutions by Hart last night were spot-on and definitely changed the game - George for Cummings, Cato for Peltier and push Hyland further up the pitch did the trick.
-
Peltier had a great game... Running at people and roughing them back. Man take elbow and all kinda thing.
-
Peltier had a great game... Running at people and roughing them back. Man take elbow and all kinda thing.
i beg to differ. this guy has become like guerra, he makes zero impact in offence, and yesreday he put in zero crosses in the box, especially when we have one of the best headers of the ball in concaccaf.
-
The defense was great yesterday especially Daniel Cyrus and Williams. Yo huge props to Cyrus, it seems that he's really learning in Chicago. He stepped up huge yesterday.

hes a gr8 player to have on the tbh but i think he'll be better subbed on
yesterday with peltier starting it really showed how much we're missing molino on the right
peltier is a true warrior though i don't want him to leave the team
