Title: Chelsea vs Liverpool the 2nd leg CL semis

so we finally within hours and as usual at the pre match conference the banter continued.....

Benitez reall pushing to put prreall want pressure on chelsea coming wit d same ole talk bout thy realli want to win d CL and even saying dat if u ask roman which one he want he go tell yuh d CL..said dat chelsea scared of anfield

Mourinho state dat he going to anfield to scare them...saying you cant defend perfect for 90 minutes so his aim is to attack.....he accepted the home field advantage but said now that he wants to win at anfield and not just scrape through....he wants them to score goals.....he said d side was a bit on d wearside with ferriera playing CB last time at anfield and with no carvalho once again he believe he team will get it done.....he called beintez "intelligent" if he played the long ball into crouch tactic

Personal view is that Liverpool need sisoko in that midfield play to be the destroyer because mascherano can be passed as well as xabi and thy may give up fouls in dangerous position....momo only prob is he is a liability helping the attack.....Crouch will look to cause problems...but i cannot envisage much of a problem.....its bellamy or kuijt i am more worried about......as always gerrard will be the driving force and their long shot ability will be something to watch at home


Chelsea now have mike essien back and not one man can deny that chelsea is a different team with him in it.....something about what he brings to the team....if chelsea win the midfield battle then they should be smooth sailing but no game ever realli is smooth....kalou ...swp..and cole will be the heroes with pool prolly expected to pay close attention to drogba.....


maybe as a chelsea fan i can only ever look for one team to go through but as a football fanatic i look forward to a electric game.

Food for thought:

* Will Chelsea's center backs cope with Crouch?  There is no carvalho, and yuh done see what he did to Essien and dem at Anfield in the league
* Will 'Pool get caught on the counter, as they go in search of the equalizer?
* Who will win this game of chess between Mourinho and Benitez; the two most successful coaches in Europe over the last four years

fellas fellas,
              men talkin bout crouch and sissoko..steups...this game comes down to one match-up..Drogba vs. Agger. Agger was man-handled in the first game, and if Benitez does not get Hyppia on the Ivorian Lion, GAME DONE. Almost every time a long ball was played into Droggie in game one, guess who brought it down, or flicked it to one of his teamates? And need i remind y'all bout the goal?

And lets not get carried away with the score either. In 5 CL games against each other (Benitez vs Mourinho) a grand total of 2 goals have been scored. Luis Garcia's "phantom" goal and Joe Cole's last week.  If Benitez come wth his 5 man midfield again, expect another low scoring game, that is, unless Chelsea snatch one early and liverpool has to throw caution to the wind and are forced to score 3 goals to win.

SmallMag. dis is de first time I want Manutd to go thru because I lookin for a Manutd vs Chelsea final. Big Teams should play big games and this year there haven't been 2 better teams.

Blows for LiverPool!!  we lookin for a red devil / blue war-machine showdown...

and i tell allyuh last week Liverpool like cockroach, yuh have to kill them dead dead dead. Serious sheltox and Det.

But on Football, It would be an interesting setup to see a repeat of the Liverpool - Milan final of 2 years ago. all kinda sub-plots in that one.

I am indifferent about Liverpool

Today was  a good day  ;D

I want Milan to win 2 morrow. An all EPL CL final would be too boring, plus as i have said overa nd over on this forum...nothing would beat the drama of a rematch between Liverpool and Milan

I doh hate ManU. I just prefer Milan from since back in the day. ManU was only on my radar when Yorke was there...if they are the better side over the 2 legs and get to the final, I giving them props. I done backing them to win the EPL and the FA Cup..so doh come  round me wit' no hater talks...I just want Milan to get some revenge over Liverpool  ;D

You really must be joking. A ManU Liverpool final boring??? I see where you are coming from as a neutral though, but still...two clubs with a seething hatred for each other...  a bitter rivalry that plays itself out on the pitch and off it? Nah, anything but boring. Not even the quality of the game itself  would be boring, United only know one way to play: "attack, attack, attack", and 'pool are no slouches either. I see where you are coming from as a neutral though, but still...two clubs with a seeting hatred for each other...  a bitter rivalry that plays itself out on the pitch and off it? not boring in that way..iwould still watch the match and probably enjoy it...but it is the UEFA CL final and the drama is always better when you get 2 different countries and two different cultures and playing styles on the pitch. i watch enough all EPL matchups in the EPL domestic league, FA Cup etc..I want to watch European match ups when the CL come around..but say wha'...is all about who is the best..if the 2 EPl sides makeit to the final is cuz they deserve it..but I will choose a multi cultural, cross continental battle any day...even if i doh like any of the sides

I kinda see your point, but kinda really don't, but I respect it still  :beermug: As you say, if those two teams make it, they deserve it; just look out for fireworks. For a United fan, it would be a difficult proposition, because we would like nothing more that to stuff them in the most important championship, but can you imagine if we lost??? All premature however; we haven't got there as yet.

I not too sure, the two teams play very different football.

Congrats to Liverpool anyway. They will be dangerous as they probably match up better against Milan or United than Chelsea.

I'm still baffled by how the best players in the world at the highest level, with impeccable technique and ability can't hit the net from the penalty spot every time...David Beckham could hit me with a ball from 60 yards away, but will put the ball over the bar from 12.....I know there is an explanation but I still don't get it......Is it purely nerves?

Didn't Chelsea just need 1 goal in this whole game to wrap up this tie? What was the likelihood of them conceding 3 to Liverpool? Even at 1-0 down, if they went for it and even shared a pair of goals they would have still won.

I understand that Mourinho likes to be clever but waiting for extra-time to bring on speedy players to take advantage of tired players is not the most creative tactic. Wouldn't the subs have been of more use before the last 20 minutes of the game? Liverpool were no better but as the home team they had more reason to push for pens and avoid giving up an away goal.

2) Fatigue
3) Changinng your mind just before you swing
4) Keeper guess right and pelt his frame real good

Pick any one or any combination. That is my theory on missed penalties  :-\

And this is a non-partisan objective observer. Chelsea's squad was just too thin especially with their high intensity defend all over the pitch style.

Lampard is playing every game but he looks dead on his feet. Essien is a beast but he is only one and she should not have to be playing defence in a CL semi, when Chelsea had the chance to buy whoever they wanted in the summer. Don't even talk about Shevchenko and Ballack in that Chelsea system or how come Robben, SWP and Duff look very different playing for Chelsea than they did at their former clubs.

Well Iam a Chelsea fan but Manu playing like Champions and Chelsea looking tired . This one man up front and long ball dont cut it and liverpool fans are the best. How I wish T&T can support like this. I thought that the Boss would have brought on Robben and Wright Phillips earlier, he did but a tad too late.
 Well It is over until next season- The special one was right the boss should have listened to him and spend some money during the transfer season.

Fellas, while I take some time out of my busy vacation schedule to check in on the site, Allow me, first and foremost, to congratulate Liverpool.  The first images of that stadium with all them fans was AWESOME!  This semi-final, IMHO, was lost last week at Stamford Bridge, though.  chelsea needed to finish the chances they had, knowing how difficult it would be to score at Anfield.  I put the blame credit squarely on the shoulders of Jose Reina.  The man made at least two exceptional saves last week that would have put this tie way out of reach and my hat goes off to him. His performance in the Penalty shootout was as equally exceptional and he did what he had to do for his team.  Excellent 'keeper! Some of Chelsea's players looked tired and Lampard was his usual play-assassin self and Drogba spent too much time reverting to his old ways that I had not seen much of earlier in the season: diving and flopping all over the place trying to win whistles and cards instead of just playing to win the ball and put pressure on Liverpol's defence.  Too bad we have had a rough four days, but I guess the quadruple (oops) treble (oops) double is still on!  ;D   Blue will always be the colour as the season may not as been as successful as we would have liked (four trophies is a literal impossibility) but we did well to get this far and in spite of some of our failures, we have had some good memories for the season.  Forzza Itallia!! Go Milan!!
