What time?

1:00 p.m. T&T time.

I had a look at the number of people following their game online yesterday and it was never any more than 27 or 28. If we factor-in that interest in the match would have been shared by family, friends and fans of Police FC and their Salvadoran opponents, that interest level is low even if we factor-in access to the Internet and work commitments etc. I'm discounting awareness of the link because one would presume that team officials would have shared it with their stakeholders.

In contrast, the Portmore United match had ~ 70 people online attentive to the match. Because their opponent was Mexican, a significant cross-section of their family, friends and fans were at the playing facility ... I'm inclined to conclude that Jamaican representation online (in the earlier time slot) was more notable than the T&T interest.

Last year I commented that there was evidence of North American parental and family support physically present at the event, but an absence of the same for Jamaican and T&T players ... with a similar circumstance for Central American families. The situation may have improved slightly this year. Will confirm.

Painful to watch that most recent game.

These yutes need to learn that when short passed doh work, how to spread the ball.

Missed the first 20 mnts but never saw us get a direct shot at goal.

Unquestionably poor display. The team played without a midfield. A lot of work needs to be done psychologically (and as I gather is being done) with the group for them to get the most out of the experience of a CONCACAF U-13 Club Championship.

That aside, it must be stated that Police FC has a very professional presentation (appearance of the technical staff etc.). However, there remain administrative and preparation deficiencies that need to be redressed at the level of the TTFA and the Pro League in advance of teams departing for this event, despite it being a CONCACAF tournament. Both the Pro League and the TTFA need to take activist and leadership roles in advance of departure, rather than acting as mere conduits of information from CONCACAF to the club that has qualified for the event. At the end of the day, the product on the field is a Trinidad & Tobago product and both entities should have vested interests in protecting the image of T&T football.

Definitely more parental presence this year. Clubs like Herediano and Alajuelense have mobilized many families. Despite the economic hurdles in the T&T economy, this could be achieved for T&T support of the club that has qualified (particularly if the timing of when the team identified for participation at the tournament improves).

I wish that is possible, but I can't see that happening for teams like Police and Jabloteh. Where these guys parents getting money to go Mexico to support them.

3-0.

It must be said: what is on display is an indictment of the Youth Pro League. May the responsible parties stand up and own responsibility.

None of the responsible parties to whom I refer are in Toluca, Mexico.

Maybe the ones in charge of grassroots/youth development. I think they should at least present viewing games and other teams to network and learn what the other teams in the region are doing. That's what TD's typically do but we know everything and we jamming still, cropover and caribana weekend.

Much of the blame lies with people who are not in Mexico. That's the assertion. I don't fault the players. They are doing the best that they can do. We are dealing with U-13s.

CONCACAF U-13 Champions League, Quarterfinal Stage.

The top two (2) teams from each group from the group play stage have progressed to the Quarterfinal matches.

The bottom two (2) teams in each group from the group play stage have progressed to the Shield Quarterfinal matches.

The Shield Quarterfinal format was introduced to CONCACAF U-13 Champions League competition this year. In preceding years, elimination from competition occurred immediately after the group play stage and losing teams lacked the environment of additional "competitive matches", although some inter-club friendlies were arranged during the period of inactivity experienced by these clubs.

Police FC have progressed to the Shield Quarterfinal bracket and will play Chicago Fire at 3:00 p.m. T&T. time.

The link for viewing the streams is available here.

Matches, Wednesday, August 9, 2017.

11:00 a.m. T&T time.

Quarterfinal 1 - LM Boca del Rio (MEX) v Toronto FC (CAN) FMF #3   Stream 1

Quarterfinal 2 - LD Alajuelense (CRC) v CS Herediano (CRC) FMF #4   Stream 2

Shield Quarterfinal 1 - CD Santa Ana (SLV) v Portmore Utd. (JAM)   FMF #5   Stream 3

Universidad Cantera Norte wins Scotiabank CONCACAF U-13 Champions League
CONCACAF

Universidad Cantera Norte players and coaches (pictured) lift the Scotiabank CONCACAF U-13 Champions League trophy after defeating Alajuelense in the final on August 12, 2017, in Toluca, Mexico.

TOLUCA, Mexico – Universidad Cantera Norte scored twice late in the second half and earned the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF U-13 Champions League title, defeating Alajuelense, 2-0, in the final on Saturday at the Federaciσn Mexicana de Fϊtbol’s headquarters.

Alajuelense had not conceded a goal in the entire tournament until the 53rd minute, when Luis Fernando Renteria Farias headed home off a right-sided corner kick.  Four minutes later, the scenario was eerily similar as Miguel Angel Carreon Medel sent a header into the back of the net off another in-swinging corner from the right.

Both sides completed the competition with 5W-0D-1L records.

In the match for third place, Fuerza Naranja topped Toronto FC, 1-0, on 29th minute goal by Angel De Jesus Ramirez Mora.
