'A Black Italian does not Exist'
discuss
Balotelli was born IN Italy to Ghanian parents, so he's Italian by birth, nationality, citizenship, etc. If there were
no black Italians before, then he'll be the
first black Italian - as hard as that is to believe.
Let's take racism, black, white, yellow, brown out of it for a moment and compare it to something more relevant that we can relate to.
1. There are lots of naturalised Trinidadians who have their hearts and loyalties in Trinidad - even though they live in the US. They have children that are born, raised and schooled in the United States, but these children still refer to themselves as "Trinidadian". Same goes with Jamaicans, Mexicans, etc.
2. Then you have the youth who played for T&T at U-17 because he felt he was Trinidadian enough to want to play for, and have enough talent to be able to play for Trinidad at the U17 WC.
He make the side, and then turn his back on TT for the U-20 WCQ/ WC.
No doubt he was raised in a home/ situation pointed out in #1.
So what would be the reaction in #2 if Americans had said he was not American for U-20 level? - even though he was born there.
Or what if Trinidadians had said, he is not Trinidadian for the U-17 WC because he was not born here?
