Richardson to leave Joe Public.

Richardson to leave Joe Public.
T&T Express Reports.

Both Guyanese striker Gregory Richardson and coach Keith Griffith will leave Trinidad and Tobago professional club Joe Public next season.

Griffith announced that United States Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs Columbus Crew, New England Revolution and San Jose Earthquakes all wanted to sign the fleet-footed Guyanese, following his terrific showing over two legs in the CONCACAF Champions League against the Revolution, including scoring a hat trick in Public's 4-0 victory, in the away leg in Boston earlier this month.

"He has to take his chance now," Griffith said. "What I can say is that it is very unlikely that Gregory Richardson will be a Joe Public player next season."

Griffith also revealed that he, too, will be departing Joe Public after his six-month stint is completed.

He said he is unlikely to change his mind, as at age 64, he can no longer stand the day-to-day pressure of being coach of a professional club. Griffith said he may consider staying on, if given a job developing youth teams.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

I wish Richardson could have gone to Europe instead of MLS.

Glen had that to... and Glen was boss in them days when MLS pick him up.. it depends on how Richardson applies himself. De only good thing going for him is international football will not interfair with his play because Guyana dont play much and he can give his club a 100% focus. Unless USA naturalise him...

i always thought it was injuries rather than apllication that kill Glen MLS career. The games I saw him play, he played with a lot of heart and soula nd no shortage of skill. Never the best finisher but usually gave a good account of himself.

Good luck to Richardson. Nice player. The reporting is a bit presemptuous..interest doh mean nothing. Report the man leaving when he pass his fitness test

Probably meant that he's leaving regardless... kinda like what Hyland did at Jabloteh...willing to sit until he signs elsewhere.

i saw glen play a couple games with galaxy and was rel sick. them defenders couldnt catch him atall. if glen were still with galaxy....galaxy wouldve been unstoppable. that link up between beckham and glen? think about that it rel deadly.

Nice news, but lets hope that something truly is sealed with Jackie Chan and its not just talk. Very few MLS teams can honestly look at his recent form, potential, commitment to the team and not see that he can make a major contribution to their own team's success.

Hopefully he is signed by a team that plays good attacking football and has a coach that knows how to play him. He is equally creative and quick so once he keeps his finishing form, fitness, hunger and head on straight, he should be alright. No doubt.

Respect.

Overated? Cannot agree with you there Bally. By what measure is he overrated? Don't compare him to Ronaldo or some big star, he still has a lot to learn but he is more than good enough for MLS or a trial in Europe.

Given the number of league, local cup and champions cup matches he has played over the last few weeks (which would make any average player too tired to battle defenders), the inconsistency in the team play (probably tiredness too), lack of service and the bullseye he has on him from all defenders trying to kick him off the field, he is certainly doing well to still maintain his form. Whether a player scores 1 foot from the goal  or 30 feet from the goal it is still a goal and goals win games. Did you see how deep he had to play against Montreal just to get service, even tracking back way beyond the halfway line to tackle a player heading to their goal - even in the 90th minute he was still energetic and fighting although the team was losing.

This guy is no fluke. Don't forget too that he was the Pro League's FA Cup MVP last year and was out injured for a couple of months before the first New England match. I would prefer to say that they have studied him, marked him well and cut the good service to him. Any good attacking MLS team that is able to weave him into the team play will reap good rewards. Players with less ability than this guy have gotten a break. I hope that he gets his this time around.

Respect.
