He's Lendore's training partner, so I wonder where he is, in the equation.
Taplin's time is SERIOUSSSS. Many big names are at least 3/4s of a second behind him. Hence, he has set the marker for the season.
Here are some names in the mens events that I think will surprise us this year:
Andre Degrasse - I watch Degrasse run a 200m this weekend. He was almost "Boltesque". Jogged the final 50-60m and won the race with little effort in 20.23.
Wayde Van Niekerk - Although Van Niekerk is a 400m man, I predict he will open some eyes and run 19.7 or less in the 200m this year. If he does, I can see him also doing the 200m if the Olympic schedule allows.
Bralon Taplin - I wonder if he has enough gas in the tank. He ran indoors and tanked in the 400m final. The outdoor season is even more demanding so we will see if he can carry it through to the Olympics. If Rondell Bartholomew can overcome his injury woes, Grenada may just have a chance of putting together a medal contending team in the 4x400.
One last thing, Cedenio, Lendore, Gordon, Quow and Solomon know that spots on the 4x400 team arent a given. Them men will step up their game this year. Goodbye Ian Morris record. My guess is either Cedenio or Lendore or BOTH!
