Football / Are we entering a New Defensive Era in Football

If you follow football over the decades you can see clear patterns in football play.

This world cup for me has been a defensive one from the point of view of very limited space behind  the backs of defenders and very little space to dribble into.

Players who trive on running into space and dribbing into space have not left a mark.

It was amazing to me that brazil was unable to get behind France's defence not even once in the game

Holland unable to break down portugal

England and sweden could not break down TnT

Very few teams play offside traps any more Ghana was the only team I noticed playing High,

The 4- 5 -1 seems to be the tactics of choice with 2 defensive mids being a good bet for success.

If you cannot counter attack in todays football you will have problems scoring.

It is very interesting to see the evolution of football over the decades.

Right about now "Skillfull" players are less effective

Men who can shoot from outside might be the keep to success.

Even getting to the byline and crossing a ball has become very difficult against todays defensive tactics

For me Defense has been the story of this world cup.

Hopefully this will change as offence is what football is about!

Yes it would be nice if we could keep him but we are not 100 % sure.

Remember he will have his own ambitions to do well and improve himself as well as well as Financially and there are people out there who can pay more than Jack Warner.

I think people are too stuck on Bennie Man and trying to keep Bennie Man

The Fact that they announce this 2 years off thing as a consultant means his foot is halfway out the door.

It is important to not have a Bennie Man Hang over from the players and the public.


Bennie DId his Job.

We got to the world cup and he gave us the self confidence to compete which we had not had in a while.

That Chapter is Closed and over.
The Socawarriors team of 2006 is now done.

The core of the team both Leadership wise and talent wise is over and done with.

We need to have a coach who can build a new squad and look to the future.

We have the confidence now and we know what is the required level.

If Bennie and Wi Stay, Great, But if they chose to move on, Better for them and wish them luck.

There are many other coaches both foreign based and local who can lead the national team and do it well.

E- Italy and Ghana (Czech have a good team but this is there first ever world cup pressure of expectations will make them falter, USA is not in form and do not match up good against these teams. I see when Marvin was Injured in the wales match they bring Cyd to Play Stopper and Carlos was right back,

The decoy says she has a cat. You couldn’t make up what happens next. Lakhan asks if the girl will involve the cat in a sex act. She’s says she’ll give it a try if Lakhan will strip off all his clothes when he arrives at the house. It turns out he’s a man of his word.

Another example of not knowing what is their role and responsibility.

This is not a Govt issue

This is a TTFF and their fans issue. If the fans feel tickets too expensive let them not buy it and leave the stadium empty.

Maybe the game will still sell out and TTFF will make more money.

In any event the Govt coming out and saying lower the price is just another example of politics getting envolved in football because football is the hot thing now,

A nice publicity stunt so to say.

If the Govt feel ticket are too expensive  then whay not buy 20,000 tickets at 300 = 6 Million TT = 1 million US = 14286 Barels of oil @ 70 US a barel.
I am sure a drop in the bucket for our daily oil production output.

We can call it National Oily Football Day and the whole nation will be happy or at least the ones who get the free ticket.

As far as waiving the rental fee for the TTFF that is another perfect example of Govt Management because in a few years when we have no money we could complain about white elephants and maintenace cost etc.

In Trinidad nobody pays for anything and everything is free. Yet at the same time money always changing hands.

Football / After Listening to the Interviews my oppinion is Poor Football Leadership

Lincoln and Corneal are probably 2 of the biggest football brains in TnT at least on experience and their discussions in the post game has exposed just how far off point they really are.

They are great people and I am not attacking their character but based on their reaction presented in their interview they are clearing not providing the necessary football leadership especially to our youth programs

Corneal

His whole point is that the players was unfit and they are in off season. He claims that the players do not have the necessary personal discipline to stay fit and are hence not national material.
Any idiot would tell you that as a player you cannot just "Stay Fit" If you have no team to play for, you would not be football fit no matter how many laps you run.
Corneal should know that, he is a FIFA Analysis Coach.

If we picking players to play in a national tournament who are based in the US and it is the middle of winter, There is no school football at this time so you cannot expect men to be match fit.
So is either you bring them in 3-4 weeks in advance to get them fine tuned or pick men who in mid season so fine tuning will be easier.

In fact these men are fit because most of them involved in the MLS tryouts some involved in the senior team try outs and they even had a camp and play some MLS teams so how much more fit you want to be.
These men and them Fit and the fit as they ever going to get they just might be less fit than the Haitians but I am sure they and not Unfit.

The bigger issue might be aclimitization to the Heat and humidity as the players are comming from the US in March to Trinidad which may be an issue.

What about the Trinidad based players? Them could not run ,was them fit? they in training with the national team months now?

Fitness test is not part of the pre tournament selection?

How the ass you go get up and talk about man not fit in the Year 2006.
Fitness is a given in professional football.
So much so the Word fitness means "Whether or not meh foot break up" It has nothing to do with how much laps you can run!

I think we not taking advantage of the momentum from the Bahrian match

We have 2 good gate receipts games in the Mexico and the Bahrain games sine then all momentun lost in terms of keeping football hype in the local fan base.

We have 1 peru game some time in May or something That game might be half full because by then people gone back to the football norm.

We miss an opportunity to keep thing hot and fresh in the minds.

Take a page out of warrior nation book

If we did loss them games to Guatemala and Mexico how much warrior nation family day we would have had, probably none.

Sometime you have to strike when the market is Hot.

Obviously we cannot get the World Cup players to play in the games but we could organise a youth team or B squad games and find some body to play.

Even if it is grenada, or Jamiaca or North East Stars,

Play a game and Bring in one or 2 world cup men like Whitley Spann etc with the other locals like Jemmot and have a few practice matches in the smaller stadiums.

We should easily be able to pull a 5000 to 10000 fans and keep the football vibes flowing.

They have some US based players who was in off season until last month who would have been gald to get a national cap.


We even waste the whole carnival market.


I feel the issue is Money, Jack and them have no money to pay Bennie so right now he on a Pay by the hour work until the camp start back. So bennie not doing no more work.


If that is the case that is fine but at least anton corneal of Phillips could coach the second 11 and let them play in some games.

We have plenty men who can benefit from Playing and yes they will not be involved in Germany but they will be involved for South Africa

So why waste time now.


The biggest football year in TnT football History and all we have to show for it is one game against Peru.

After world cup there will be no games at all!

Apparently some MLS squads are training at the same facility in pre season training.

I have a feeling the main reason for this session in Miami is to showcase some TnT players to the MLS with the hope of getting a contract.

If you look at the men selected most of them young and based on talent in line to try to make a MLS squad.

I think is too much of a coincidence that we there same time as MLS teams.

At the awards ceremony, Pro League chairman Larry Romany highlighted the progress of the present board in statistics.

He declared that attendances shot up from 25,000 fans to 150,000 since his administration took charge in 2003, while sponsorship rose from $120,000 to in excess of $1 million, exclusive of government funding.

The board plans to further integrate the League into the communities by developing eight community fields within a three-year period.

Jabloteh should provide the first experiment of this plan's success when the club moves from its Hasely Crawford Stadium base to Cantaro, Santa Cruz.

Skeene shared Romany's enthusiasm for the upcoming season in light of the achievement of the "Soca Warriors".

He basicall call back all the fring men from the WCQ campaign and added Rougier , maybe because of his flexibility.

He said we needed left sided players as avery is our only left footer and it looks like he looking to add more defenders than attacking players.

I think we going with the same squad that we ended the world cup qualifiers with and maybe looking to carry a couple youth in positions 20-23 just for the experience

If you is really hardest friend and you does talk to him, then I suggest the following the next time you talk to him.

Tell him to go and join a team
Either a Pro Team or a Super League team
he should at least be able to make Tobago United, or Arima Fire or one of the less competitive teams.
Tell him to train hard and dedicate himself to the game (With in the pro league set up)
Because in two years world cup qualifying will start again and if he rip up in the pro league he will have a chance to be on the national team again.

Hardest biggest problem right now is that he whole world telling him he is a great player, but his football realty is not reflecting his greatness.

He fraid the whole world find out that he is not the Hardest.

If you cannot make professional football in Trinidad, then you cannot make the national team!

Football / Realistically Speaking will 3000 TnT Based People Go to Germany

Jack state that is how much tickets we getting roughly for each game.

Can the local based advise

Does it look like these people in TnT are seriously going to put out the money to go.

Will these tickets sell out or will it be mostly USA and UK based trinis that buy up all the tickets

Football / Obviously We aint ready yet

Real men wanted to make world cup real bad but as we can see we football aint ready yet.

All this and a game aint play yet.

As fans we not ready,

How many people in TnT actually show an interest in football, very little, we still waiting for the team to do good and then to support.
Do we support community teams financially or otherwise
Do we support Youth Football in the country be it club, school or small goal.
How many people went to a PFL game once after we make world cup to see world cup level players like Whitley, I am sure attendance did not go up.

Yet still man on Radio talk show every morning complaining for World Cup tickets. Man lining up to Buy Package and thing. But ask these same people to spend $30TT to see a Local Football match and they will never show up.

They cussing the Govt to pay foreign coach salary but if a man in TnT charge 60TT a month per player to coach a youth side them same parents saying "He mad or what" He should coach for Free!


As a Govt we not ready


The Govt still aint figure out how much money to give the players yet is been 2 months since we qualify the qualification took 2 years and we have know since 1966 that world cup comes every 4 years so it was not a suprise.

Added to that we still waiting on details of the budget to come through

added to that the Prime Minister go on papers and say that he want an allocation of tickets for a Govt Charter to germany. Well now I dont feel so bad because if the prime minister cannot get tickets then who is me.

Football and Cricket is the 2 major sports in TnT so if the Govt not fully plugged into what is going on with these sports then what sports are they really involved in and what they does be doing in the ministry of sport on a day to day basis.

As a Federation we aint ready

Been Planing for world cup since 1966 but still things dont seem to be in place.
Question upon question no answers
dont even know how to shut up because every day is a different communication that some how seems to contradict the one from the day before.


World Cup is about Football Development and performance

but this is of no interest to the average TnT Citizen we interested in Baccanal and comess and Carnival

We take World Cup qualifiaction and turn it into a Carnival.
A time for this one to cuss this one

A time for this one to pull rank
A time to mamaguy yourself for the mother of all games
Or ramajay yourself in Germany for $30000 a ticket

When this thing was about football back when we was playing Dominacan Republic not a man jack was interested,
As soon as it is a party sceen with Destra and Bunji for the Mexico game Man rushing to go in the stadium.

Man was not rushing to see football they was rushing to be part of the Baccanal.

That is why they call them Wagonist I guess.


World Cup will come and go and we will not do anything for football because all that going on

Is who this and that and UNC and PNM and who in charge all the while time passing by.


In 2008 Qualifications will start again TnT versus Netherland Antilies and the stadium will still be half empty,

World Cup or no world cup

The PFL stands will still be empty
SSFL standards will still be poor
Coaching in TnT will be a passtime rather than a profession
The TTFF will still not have a season ticket option
We will still be waiting for the mother of all games because we want to play Brazil
The Govt will still not have a budget or plan allocated to football

And Most of all the Business of Football will not be a viable business in Trinidad and Tobago

World Cup is about football

it is not another opportunity to promote yourself and your culture it is about Football.

We just want to be in the Thing to be in the thing.

Start focusing on the football otherwise we in the wrong competition.


A lot of people come on this site and ask what makes Brazil great.
Try to analyze how they get so good etc


The answer is very simple

They LOVE FOOTBALL.

They play football all the time anytime and everytime.

There are people in Brazil Living in the jungle who play football all day and they have never even seen electricity far less to see a tv and world cup game.
They are not motivated by world cup
They play cause they LOVE the game.


We dont LOVE football, we love World Cup
ie we love the world show and want to be a spectacle
We want to be part of "De thing"

We make a world cup do we see a renewed interest in FOOTBALL in TnT?

Are sponsors going out and supporting local teams.
Are new leagues being formed
Are more and More kids joining football teams
Are more and more Coaches getting certified
Is attendance and interest in the sport increasing

None of these things are going on!

A love for football is what world cup is!
