canisius.edu

Robert Morris senior forward Neil Shaffer took a pass from teammate Dwayne Chin at the top of the box and lined a shot into the left side of the goal with 56 seconds left in the second overtime period to push the visiting Colonials to a 2-1 win over Canisius College Sunday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex. The win improves Robert Morris to 2-0-0, while the loss drops the Golden Griffins to 0-2-0 in 2007.

Trailing 1-0 late in regulation time, Canisius senior Simba Aberdeen knotted the contest at 1-1 with his first goal of the season in the game’s 89th minute. Senior Mariano Sapien set up the Griffs’ tally by sliding a lead-pass towards Aberdeen, who beat Robert Morris goalkeeper Matt Felice to the left side to put the Blue and Gold on the scoreboard.

The Colonials took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute after Jacek Przednowek scored past Canisius keeper Adam Catley off a pass in the box from Shaffer. Robert Morris showed a strong offensive presence early in the game, posting 11 shots in the game’s first 45 minutes, but Catley kept the Griffs in the game by recording six saves in the first half, and finished with a game total of 10. Felice posted his second win of the season for the Colonials after recording six saves, highlighted by a diving stop early in the second half off a redirected shot from Canisius forward Alan McGreal. Robert Morris finished the game with a 24-15 advantage in shots and held a 5-4 lead in corner kicks. A total of 37 fouls were called in the physical match, with Canisius whistled for 19 fouls and Robert Morris drawing 18. The Griffs will return to action Friday, Sept. 14, when the team meets Detroit in the first game of the BGSU Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.

Game Notes: The Sept. 2, home date for Canisius is the program’s earliest since 1999… All three of Canisius’ goals this year have come in the final 10 minutes of regulation time… Simba Aberdeen’s goal on Sunday was the sixth of his career… Adam Catley has 21 saves in goal for Canisius through the team’s first two contests… Aberdeen led all players with six shots, while Alan McGreal was credited with four

gopurpleaces.com

Junior goalkeeper Alec Dufty of the University of Evansville scored a point and stopped a penalty kick, but he and his teammates couldn't contain Memphis midfielder Jared Britcher. The result was a 2-1 victory by the Tigers here Sunday night in the final round of the Memphis Diadora Soccer Tournament. The  Aces also fell in the first round on Friday, 2-1 to Oral Roberts in UE's season opener.

"I believe we are much improved from this point a year ago," said Coach Mike Jacobs, "but last year we were just trying to be competitive, and this year we expect to win matches against good teams like Oral Roberts and Memphis."

Britcher put Memphis up 1-0 at the 33:57 mark when he headed in Sean Goulding's corner kick. Evansville's Ian McAuley tied the match at 49:30. UE's scoring play began when Dufty booted a goal kick to midfield. Freshman Robby Lynch then fed the ball to McAuley, who broke open to score his first goal of the year. Both Dufty and Lynch were awarded assists.

Dufty then made a key save at 68:07, stopping a penalty kick by Memphis's Kevin Walsh. But less than 90 seconds later, Britcher got around UE's defense and scored his second goal of the night to give the Tigers the game-winner. Evansville plays again Friday in its home opener at Black Beauty Field against Belmont, at approximately 7:30. The UE women begin Friday's doubleheader against Western Illinois at 5:00.

aueagles.cstv.com

The American University men's soccer team put together a strong, whole-team effort to knock off host George Mason University, 2-1, Sunday in the second round of the D.C. College Cup.

American opened its scoring on the 2007 season when junior Tremaine Chinapoo (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), a defender, notched his first career goal just 5:24 into the game. He was assisted by freshman David Menzie (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) on the goal.

The Eagles then opened up an insurmountable, two-goal lead when freshman Jamie Davin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) also tallied his first career goal on an unassisted play. George Mason made a late charge when they scored on a corner kick in the 81st minute. However, solid defense by the Eagles allowed only two more shots the rest of the way, both of which missed the net. AU Goalkeeper Chris Sedlak (Valrico, Fla./Bloomingdale) was solid in net, making four saves.

"We got a great response from a young team on the road today," Head Coach Todd West said. Neaves' hat-trick leads Bulls past Knights
gousfbulls.com

Backed by junior Kevon Neaves' hat trick, the University of South Florida men's soccer team earned a season-opening victory 5-2 over UCF, Friday night at the USF Soccer Stadium.

Not to be outdone, junior Jordan Seabrook added a goal and two assists and senior Simon Schoendorf contributed two assists of his own. Outstanding newcomer Tony Taylor also score for the first time in his career to complete the offensive outpouring from USF. The Bulls came into the game with an 18-3-4 all-time edge over UCF and the team was able to survive a few miscues to add one more win to that total. UCF drew first blood in the fifth minute of the game when Mike Mattson headed a ball past USF keeper Diego Restrepo to put the Bulls down a score.

USF would remain behind for the next 20 minutes before a hard take-down of Schoendorf in UCF's box awarded the team a penalty kick. After a foul on the first attempt by captain Yohance Marshall, Neaves lined up and fired the second chance past Knights keeper Sean Johnson for his first goal of the night and of the season.

Just two minutes later, Seabrook found the back of the net on an assist from Schoendorf to put the Bulls up 2-1. Neaves put USF out to a momentarily comfortable 3-1 lead in the 56th minute on a quick leave from Seabrook that he rifled to the high left-side past Johnson. The Knights closed the gap after Restrepo saw a save in the middle of the box bounce away from him and UCF's James Georgeff connected with a header to make it 3-2. Feeling a sense of urgency, the Bulls picked up the pace of the game and put it out of reach as Taylor garnered his first career points on a pass from Schoendorf and the tandem of Neaves and Seabrook connected yet again two minutes later for the Petit Valley, Trinidad's career-high scoring affair.

"I thought the team showed some good maturity tonight," said head coach George Kiefer.  "We got some first-game jitters out and I was happy.  We made the game a little more interesting than I would have liked, but we gain some good experience from that." The Bulls out-shot the Knights 21-10 and tallied 12 of those on goal, to the Knight's five.

Pierre nets two as Richmond downs Villanova in season opener
richmondspiders.cstv.com

Junior Delano Pierre scored two goals in the first 22 minutes to lead the Richmond men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory Friday over Villanova in front of a raucous opening night crowd of 2,432 at First Market Stadium.

"That was a really good performance, in the flow of play I thought our defense was very, very good tonight," Richmond head coach Jeff Gettler said. "The crowd, the 12th player for us was unbelievable, they really pulled us through. We had two great goals and some really good defending in the flow of play."

Pierre opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he passed the ball to senior Kyle Richards in the left corner, got it back, took one touch and slammed it into the back of the net. Just over five minutes later Pierre scored his sixth-career goal when junior Scott Loesser passed the ball up to senior Callum Thomas, who who used some fancy footwork to beat two defenders and pass off to Pierre, who one-timed it into the far corner.

"It's a great feeling to score two goals in our first game," Pierre said. "It's a home game, so it's really import to get the win. (On the first goal) I was focused, the ball came to me, I took one touch and I just hit the shot I wanted to. The second goal Callum (Thomas) played a beautiful ball to me and I just placed it in the corner."

It marked Pierre's second multi-goal game of his career, along with scoring twice against Temple last season. "Those were two great goals, both times on good combination play," Gettler said. "We freed him and both times he turned and really fired good chances into the net. That was in the first 20 minutes, two goals in 20 minutes was a great start for us and a real platform for us to build on."

Villanova did not let the two goal lead last for long, as Sean Mergenthal slid a shot inside the right post off an assist from Joe Taylor on a restart just 1:53 after Pierre's second goal. "It was unlucky on the goal," Richmond goalkeeper Eric Sciocchetti said. "They just got a little tip in. On the whole the defense played very well tonight. I'm very happy with the defense."

The score would remain 2-1 as Sciocchetti, the 2006 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, would make six saves on the night. The two teams each took 11 shots. Villanova keeper Jason Friel made three saves. Richmond returns to action on Sunday when the Spiders head down I-65 West to take on No. 5 ranked Virginia in Charlottesville at 5 p.m. The Cavaliers opened the season with a 5-0 win over Columbia tonight.

"We've got a day to get ready, but I'm sure the guys are really excited to measure ourselves against someone in the top five," Gettler said. "It's a great game for us to play and I think we'll be ready to go out there Sunday and get a result."

Kareem Yearwood leads Cougars over Bears

DeFreitas gets on the scoreboard in UNF's season opener
unfospreys.cstv.com

The University of North Florida men's soccer team opened its 2007 season by rallying for a 2-1 win over homestanding Georgia State on Friday afternoon. The Ospreys (1-0) fell behind 1-0 on a goal by GSU's Brian Forera just 13:46 into the match, but answered with a pair of  quick strikes to take the lead and then settle into a defensive battle. Redshirt freshman Akil DeFreitas tied the game for UNF at the 18:08 mark on an assist from true freshman Adam O'Neill. O'Neill then pushed the game-winner into the net on a pass from Oscar Ortiz at 21:26 on the clock.

The squads settled into a stalemate from there, with each club each getting seven shots in the second half but failing to find the mark. Freshman Andrew Calise earned his first career start in goal for the Ospreys, tallying four saves. UNF outshot the Panthers 16-12 and had nine shots on goal, compared to six for GSU. Georgia State (0-1) upset 12th-ranked Clemson in an exhibition match last week and was riding high coming in, a factor that made UNF head coach Ray Bunch even more proud of his squad's effort.

"It is always good to get off to a good start," Bunch said. "This team was feeling really good about itself coming into the game because of their win over Clemson last week. I was proud of our guys for battling back after falling behind and then showing a lot of character to play tough down the stretch. We need to learn to kill off games when we have the chance, but that will come. It gives us something to work as we move forward."

UNF returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Missouri State for an 8 p.m. match.

The only list I have is T & T Players Representing U.S. Colleges. Lincoln Phillips is aware of the list and has used it in the past to invite players to screening sessions.

But i don't think you can get those College players because the schools will not release them,TTFF has no control over that.

Well strangely enough, Stefan St. Louis (Oakland University) and Marcelle Francois (California University of Pennsylvania) are currently with the U-23 squad in Suriname.

I not too concerned about getting them released for friendlies especially as their season now start. I more concerned about knowing what options we have available and keeping tabs on them so we can use them especially when we have friendlies etc before qualifiers. Our talent pool already small.....so every player counts.
