Fans unite in Nuremburg
(theFA.com)

Wednesday, 19 April 2006.

Today in Nuremberg, representatives of The Football Association and English and German football supporters joined together to stress the message of fan friendship ahead of the World Cup.

England will play Trinidad & Tobago in Nuremberg on 15 June in their second Group B match.

Martin O’Hara, Alan Bloore and David Barlow of the Yorkshire branch of englandfans, the officials England supporters clubs, have developed strong links with the Nuremberg Fans Projekt and co-ordinator Heino Haessler.

Together they are planning a Nuremberg carnival event with a Caribbean flavour, built around a cricket match against Trinidad & Tobago fans the day before the match.

The event will take place in a park in central Nuremberg [Wöhrder Wiese], with music, food and drink and a real party atmosphere.

Martin O'Hara said: "We wanted to organise something special in Nuremberg to celebrate what will be a major event. Cricket is huge in both Yorkshire and Trinidad & Tobago, and was a perfect way of bringing fans together in a relaxed atmosphere.

"We also hope that lots of local people will come along to see what cricket is like and join in the party."

FA spokesman Andrin Cooper said: "Huge numbers of English fans will travel to Germany this summer to be part of what will be a fantastic football party. The English team enjoys fantastic support, especially at major tournaments.

"We want to show that England fans are genuine, passionate fans who will make a hugely positive contribution to the colour and atmosphere of the World Cup."

The visit forms part of Alltogethernow 2006, a campaign by England fans and The FA to promote positive fan behaviour at the World Cup in Germany and respect for the host country.

Launched on 28 February at Anfield by David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Sven-Goran Eriksson, it is also aimed at showing a positive image of England fans to people in Germany and around the world, and to demonstrate that the stereotyped image of anti-social and violent behaviour is not a true reflection of genuine England supporters.

Alltogethernow 2006 follows on the back of a similar campaign ahead of Euro 2004. UEFA paid tribute to the England supporters, giving them 9 out of 10.

Before and during the World Cup, there will be a range of initiatives taking place around England and in Germany, organised primarily by the fans for the fans and supported by The FA. These include road shows, regional competitions, player messages, ambassador visits to Germany and a variety of media events.

I believe this is the event being co-organized by the Warrior Nation.

this event is in fact being co-hosted with the Warrior Nation. People are in Germany this week and more details will be available in the coming days as we organize the TT end of things.
