Best, Roach, Sammy, Austin and Bernard are doing as good a job as Edwards, Taylor, Bravo, Benn and Baker would have done I reckon.

I am rele angered by the team we pick today. Extremely negative, I doh like to say this but I feel we deserve to lose. A spinner should have been included- whether it be Benn or somebody else, and the selectors must have been aware of Taylor's injury, yet they decided to pick the same squad, knowing full well that he might not be available and they would have to pick the shit Powell. The selectors must have known that this pitch would not suit seam bowling - England seemed to, yet they pick no spinners. What a joke.

Cricket Anyone / Rampaul and Simmons for final test...who agree?
« on: March 02, 2009, 02:41:54 PM »
Simmons in for the useless Hinds to bat at 5, with Shiv moving up to 4. Rampaul in for the "short and wide" Powell.

4
I watch us take on the so called superstars yesterday and I can conclude that for KP and England this will be the easiest $20million that they will make. What a rubbish set of players Viv Richards has selected, England will walk all over this team. If T&T had Pollard and Mohammed, T&T would have beaten the Superstars.

Cricket Anyone / Re: West Indies Squad Announced, Not a Bad Squad
« on: August 13, 2008, 12:53:48 PM »
Yeah not a bad squad. I think Baugh should be given a chance, Ramdin has not really been scoring runs, and Baugh might be more useful down the order in one day cricket as he is a more of a hitter than Ramdin. Findlay should be no where near any sort of international cricket but otherwise good squad. I assume Shiv will come back in for Findlay for the champions trophy.

Surely this game is right down Lara's road. A big game for big moneuy.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Who will be the New Captain?
« on: August 12, 2008, 03:35:53 PM »
Gayle has withdrawn his resignation and has been reappointed captain. So no need to try out the other jokers Sarwan, Ganga (who cannot even make the test team atm) and whoever else.

No more selectors...should be purely up to the coach and his scouts. But WICB will probably re-appoint Greenidge and Roberts and will probably add some other clueless idiot to the panel

Yeah man, Ganga is a far better batsman than Parchment will ever be. The man has no basic technique. I could name an infinite amount of batsman who would be better picks than him. Ganga, Simmons, Clayton Lambert, Philo Wallace, Sherwin Campbell, Adrian Griffiths, Wavell Hinds.. plus i haven't even got to Morton, in fact doh let me get started on him.

I wouldn't even worry about our bowling atm, its our batting that is a serious worry...Gayle and Samuels are missing, Chattergoon aswell; they have called up the joker that is Parchment, I dont know why, in South Africa he looked rubbish, I dunno wat a few months difference has made to his technique.

Interesting point fishs, and I have to say what you're saying is true. However it is very unfair to Jaggernauth and Mohammed, who have dominated first class cricket with the amount of wickets they have taken, not to give them a fair chance in the West Indies team. Mohammed may have had his chance to impress, but at least now Jaggernauth should be given the chance. He may cut it at international level or he may not, you dont know until you give them a chance.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Carib Beer Cricket Challenge Final
« on: April 25, 2008, 04:46:02 PM »
I read an article today by Fazeer, that this match is a totally worthless match...it is basically an end-of-season game. Also I can't believe Nikita Miller took 5 wickets...either we batsman are blind or the pitch is taking spin.

Cricket Anyone / Apparently Jaggernauth still in West Indies plans!
« on: April 10, 2008, 04:18:43 AM »
Dyson said in an interview that they are still looking at Jaggernauth, and many other spinners around the Caribbean which is encouraging, but I would like to know why Benn got picked ahead of him.

Trinidad offspinner Amit Jaggernauth will not be part of the one-day series between West Indies and Sri Lanka, but he is still very much part of West Indies coach John Dyson's plans.

"I would imagine that Jaggernauth would be part of the Test squad [against Australia]," Dyson said.

Currently the leading bowler in the regional Carib Beer four-day series with 40 wickets, Jaggernauth was in the West Indies squad for both Test matches against Sri Lanka but did not play. But Dyson said the time he spent with the squad was not wasted.

"He's been impressive in the nets during the Test series," Dyson said. "And what we are aiming to do is to make sure he was exposed to the Test squad and also he had a good opportunity to watch Murali [Muttiah Muralitharan] at close range."

Dyson also made it clear that the search for spinners was going beyond Jaggernauth and Barbados left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn.

"There's the Challenge final still to come and that's an interesting match because there are a couple of spinners in that game," he said. "Jaggernauth will be playing in that game, so it's a good chance for him to press his claims even further. Just off the top of my head, we've had a look and a talk about [left-armer] Nikita Miller from Jamaica. And from all reports, he's worth having a good look at as well."

Dyson also said that the wider aim was to, "build up our own knowledge of who's available around the Caribbean from all areas of the game. So we look at batsmen, we look at the fast bowlers, we look at the spinners, we look at the wicketkeepers, so that we're up do date with everyone hopefully."

Dyson, who took charge of the team for the first time on tour of South Africa in 2007-08, also explained how he was attempting to improve West Indies' performances. "We've worked at making a positive, happy team environment," he said. "I think we're making good strides towards achieving that. And I think that when we get the guys in that sort of environment, when we support them throughout whatever happens in the matches, it's a better time for them to play cricket.

"We all know that they've got good skills. Believe it or not, they really do want to win and show the people of the whole Caribbean that they're out there doing their best for them. Sometimes it just doesn't go that way in the middle. But I think we are showing more consistently that we can be very, very competitive with everyone."

Dyson's work and words were endorsed by his captain, Chris Gayle.

"I enjoy working with him [Dyson]. He's a bit of fun as well," Gayle said. "Sometimes you do get a chance to laugh. It's been a good run so far. It's just to continue in the right vein Communication is very good."

Cricket Anyone / I Give up on West Indies cricket
« on: April 03, 2008, 10:10:14 AM »
The selectors refuse to pick a spinner, thus giving us an unbalanced bowling attack... They refuse to follow the simplest of logic and pick a man in top form on his home ground...They pick a man who played who lost us the 1st test with only 15 minutes till stumps, who should have been banished to Jamaica and never be picked again...I give up, I thought the revival would have started already or in the near future but under these selectors, this WICB administration its not gonna happen. I have lost all faith and belief in the return of west indies cricket.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Gibbs Wants Jaggernauth for 2nd Test!
« on: April 02, 2008, 11:35:29 AM »
He is the man in form, a 7-for, playing on his own backyard, with his own fans behind him- surely the selectors can't find an excuse to leave him out again?

Cricket Anyone / Re: Amit the Juggernaut
« on: April 01, 2008, 04:18:02 PM »
Yes I agree wholeheartedly with you on two points. Firstly that there is no reason or excuse now for the selectors not to pick Jaggernauth having taken 7 wickets in his last bowl as well as him knowing the conditions at QPO like the back of his hand. If they don't pick him, then I have to call for the selectors head once more, and will be losing faith in a west indies cricket revival. Also I congratulate and respect you for saying that Benn bowled well enough to get another go, for although as Trini's and cricketing fans we knew that Jaggernauth should have been the one to get a go at Providence, but Benn didnt disgrace himself; he looks more like a containing bowler than a wicket taking one, but in all cricket there is room for containing bowlers.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Fazeer Talking Garbage Again
« on: March 31, 2008, 09:03:15 AM »
I read the article, and I think you have mis-interpreted what Fazeer is trying to say. Firstly, I think, correct me if I'm wrong, he compares the current Barbados team with the Barbados team of the 1980's, not with the Trinidad team. This was used as an example, to show how standards of cricket in the Caribbean have declined so dramatically that the no one not even one player in the current Barbados team can make the team of the 1980's.

And the other point, about Trini insularity, I think he uses to make an a point about the whole of West Indies cricket at the moment; how divided the players and fans are, instead what we should be all be doing and uniting to try and return west indies cricket back to respectabilility. I am in agreement with you, that the Trini players have been mis-treated (Mohammed continually over-looked, Jaggernauth etc) but I feel there is something deeper in what Fazeer is saying which u have missed.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Team for the 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka, QPO
« on: March 28, 2008, 06:01:32 PM »
I was actually very impressed by Bravo in the second innings, the first time in a long, long time I have seen him bat that he has actually shown me that he is worthy of a top order position. In fact I too would have put him to open, but for the fact the man will be dead by the time he bowls 40 overs in the sri lanka innings. However he scored his runs in the last test after bowling quite a few overs, plus he is young- so i suppose he could do the job at the top of the order.

I dunno what we gonna do, but we have to somehow win this test match. Give Jaggernauth a go- he should have played in the 1st test  anyway, but he knows the conditions and will hopefully prosper. Time to get rid of Devon Smith also, two stupid shots on a flat pitch, i have backed him in the past but my patience has run thin... Chattergoon to get his debut, and recall Ganga as he shudnt have been dropped for this game. Also drop Powell, in fact jettison him back to Jamaica and never let him play international cricket again, and bring in Fidel Edwards. Also rest Samuels as his mind is clearly not in it at the moment.

Team:

Chattergoon
Ganga
Sarwan
Gayle
Chanderpaul
Hinds (if fit, if not will have to pick another batsman, maybe Simmons)
Bravo
Ramdin
Taylor
Jaggernauth
Edwards

Cricket Anyone / Bowden and Powell to blame...
« on: March 26, 2008, 05:49:41 PM »
I blame Bowden for Sarwan's dismissal, when we were going relatively comfortably and if he had not been given out he probably would have gone onto save the game. Definitely a decision that cost the West Indies team the match. Any other nation and there would be a big furore over that decision. If it were India, they would lobby for Bowden to be removed from umpiring in any future tests.

Powell also because of that shot he played for the last wicket, and refusing the single the ball before that would have had Gayle back on strike to face 4 balls of Vaas, and after that only 7 overs remaining. Even Hinds got a bad decision if i recall.

Cricket Anyone / Re: WHO FASTER
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:08:16 AM »
I am not in favour of Gayle dropping down the order, it shows that in some senses Sri Lanka have gained a mental advantage over the west indies before the innings has even started. But let me remind all of you, that the T&T captain, Mr.Daren Ganga did the exact same thing in England last year, to run away from Ryan Sidebottom as Sidebottom had got Ganga LBW about 7 times in 7 innings by that stage. Ganga I believe was captain in that game, was opener and was also fit. So Ganga has done it aswell, Lara did it before against England when he sent Ridley Jacobs to bat at 3 instead of himself...so not only Gayle has done it. As i say I am not in favour of it, and was in fact angry and disappointed to see that happening, but remember that our own t&t players have also done it...

22
I know that using the pitch as an excuse for incompetence is not a valid argument- no matter what pitch you play on the best team, with the best players will usually win, but I can't help but thinking that the west indies groundsman and the WICB themselves are not helping the West Indies team.

Knowing that Sri Lanka are vulnerable to pace and the bouncing ball and that there strength lies in swing bowling, the WICB put both tests against sri lanka at Guyana and Trinidad; the two most spin friendly, slow and low bouncing wickets in the Caribbean. I not sure where we are scheduled to play the aussies, but I am going to guess we are gonna be playing them-with Brett Lee and co. at Barbados, Jamaica; the two traditionally fast wickets.

This has been happening for years now. I remember when we played India 2 years ago at Sabina, the groundsman set a turning wicket for Kumble and co. better than some of the pitches they get in India. Same against England, when they set the pitches to tailor for Harmison, nobody seems to use their brains.

23
I dunno why all of u are making a big fuss for...the west indies selectors have always done this. They always pick players specific to their home islands. They pick two spinners in the squad. As they are not playing in Barbados they have to give Benn a game in Guyana and Jaggernauth will probably be given a game in Trinidad. Thats my predicition, its not racism or bias at all by the west indian selectors just a case of politics.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Windies Squad Named... No Ganga???
« on: March 11, 2008, 04:45:40 PM »
Yeah, I think the selectors have picked Benn based on his performances in the Twenty20...however Mohammed dominated the Jamaican batsmen in the final so I don't know how Mohammed could be left out in favour of Benn...again the selectors have gone with no logic. Benn doesnt even seem to spin the ball, he is a good fielder admittedly aswell as having a good temparment but I dont see why he gets picked ahead of Mohammed. Ganga should have been retained, but I am happy with Devon Smith in the team. Good to see that you have finally realised that Bravo should be batting at 7, I have been saying this for a long time now, but people keep on insisting that he bats there. Otherwise a good squad, Dwayne Smith must learn to play straight before he gets a recall to the west indies team. Oh yeah, and why have you once more dropped Taylor, when the man was the best bowler on the tour of SA and has been the most potent threat we possess for the last year?

My Team

Gayle
D.Smith
Sarwan
Samuels
Chanderpaul
Chattergoon??/ Hinds
Bravo
Ramdin
Jaggernauth
Taylor
Edwards

I don't think it is a matter with the West Indies who is the better captain tactically at the moment. It seems Gayle seems to somehow get the best out of the players, and in particular the bowling attack with special mention of Daren Powell. Ganga obviously seems to be a good leader as he showed with trinidad, but Gayle's performance in the ODI's in England, and then the early Tests in South Africa suggest that the players like playing for him. Even an experienced man like Shiv said that it is good playing under Gayle...so that is good enough for me as well as somebody like Steve Waugh who said that Gayle would be a future leader. I am not going to argue with somebody like steve waugh.

Cricket Anyone / Does anyone know where I can buy a T&T 20/20 shirt?

I am living in the UK and am currently searching for a replica T&T Standford shirt. Does anyone know a website or something like that where I can buy it from?

True. Having seen Nikita Miller bowl I dont think there is anything special there.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Time for T&T To Seperate from the West Indies....
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:48:19 PM »
Deeks I know cultural mean a lot of things but to the average person this usually means carnival, calypso, soca, limbo etc. does Guyana have these things I don't know bc we share most of these things with most of the other islands that make up the WI plus being islands we have a certain kind commonality. The WI team is throw back to colonial days, even though most of the islands in the team are independent states I can't see why we still want to hold onto to that old colonial chain. It seems we are only independent on paper and not mentally and this as a people is our greatest curse  ever wonder why England plays alone and not together with Scotland or Ireland or Northern Ireland they all bunched up around there bc they have a differant mentality they don,t need to join with anybody they going alone win lose or draw. That is the kind of mind you need to have to be truly independent.

You can't really compare England to the Caribbean but since you have let me tell you that now and in the past England have picked players from countries around the British Isles. A few examples are Gavin Hamilton-Scotland, Ed Joyce-Ireland, Simon Jones, Robert Croft, Matthew Maynard-Wales. So in some respects England do use players from the other parts of the Isles.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Windies Squad for Sri Lanka Tour....
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:43:50 PM »
But it still really doesnt explain why you are dropping people like Samuels and Taylor when they are finally scoring runs. Parchment is rubbish I'll give you that, but then how can you say that Mohammed is a better batsman than Smith? Smith needs an extended run in the team, Ryan Hinds I agree should be given another chance, and Sarwan has come back from injury and been scoring runs in domestic cricket since his comeback, so I dont see any reason not to pick Sarwan.

Cricket Anyone / Re: Windies Squad for Sri Lanka Tour....
« on: February 10, 2008, 05:46:10 PM »
After this series It has validated my points and also logic to what we are missing on the squad...

This is my list of players who should play sri lanka and deserve to play....

Gayle
Chattergoon
Ganga
Ryan Hinds
Chanderpaul
Bravo
Ramdin
Mohammed
Lawson
Collins
Collymore
dwayne smith-12th man

subs: sarwan, rampaul, samuels, wavell hinds, jaggernauth, taylor, sammy...

I cant see any other players who deserve it more than these players

We need a spinner, a pacer, a med pacer, a swing bowler, an allrounder, a 12th man who is an allrounder, like dwayne smith who could replace a waste of time fielder like colly, we need a good keeper for spin, actually the best whos ramdin, ganga bats better at 3rd, chatters and gayle would open well, ryan hinds has deserved the chance for many years now and is a better batsman than samuels, sarwan gets injured too often, jaggy is a replacement for mohammed bc taddy is still de best, wavell needs to be at least in the squad, also taylor and sammy, hwoever dey not better than collins nor lawson in test matches, nor colly...

God is de BOSS....

Erm...did you not watch the South Africa series? I know we got annihalated but that is no reason to drop two of the players who statistically did the best. Samuels had an excellent series in both tests and odi's with the bat, and Taylor did well with the ball in both the Tests and ODI series. Please could you explain why you have omitted them. I am in favour of batting Ganga in the middle order but if anything Ganga should be dropped; if you are going to bring in Ryan Hinds, as Ganga has had two consecutively poor series. The rest of the team is fine, albeit I would not pick collymore as he bowls too slowly.  Sarwan has to come back into the side asap, to strengthen the middle order and bat in the 3/4 position. And also this last series just gone, if anything has proven my point that Bravo cannot bat in the top 6. He should be no.7 with Ramdin at 8.
i.e. Gayle, Chattergoon, Sarwan, Ganga, Chanderpaul, Samuels, Bravo, Ramdin
