School footballer drowns.

A 16-Year-old student of Carapichaima East Secondary School died after he drowned at a pond at Wyaby Road, Carapichaima..

According to police, Isiah Rivers left his home at about 1 pm with friends to bathe at a pond near his home when he got into difficulties while swimming and subsequently drowned.

Police reported that Rivers’ friends who pulled him out of the pond attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. Rivers was rushed to the Couva Health Facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rivers was a Form 4 student who was a regular player with the school’s football team. He played for the school in this year’s national secondary schools football championships and was known as an aggressive and highly skilled player. Investigations are continuing.

My condolences. Always sad when these things happen, especially with one whose whole life was in front of him.

He from where I lived up 2 3 yrs ago. Is a poor family and the mom just came out of hospital. A tragedy all around.

Sad stories coming from every angle in TT these days my sincerest sympathy to all the family...a young life gone just like that.It is really something I dont understand,drowning in Maracas or Mayaro is understandable but not what we want but drowning in a pond...really hard to take in.
