A confident T&T senior Soca Princesses will kick off their Caribbean Football Union Second Round Women’s Gold Cup Qualifying campaign against St Lucia in the feature match of a double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya from 7 pm tonight. In the first match in Group F, Barbados and Guyana will lock horns from 5pm. The local squad coached by Jamaal Shabazz held its final training session yesterday at the match venue and at the end of the session team captain Maylee Attin-Johnson said she was confident that T&T will outplay their regional counterparts.
The 24-year-old, who celebrated her birthday yesterday, said that though her team was not as prepared as they would have liked to be, due to the fact that most of the players were foreign based, there was a lot of chemistry in the team and the girls had been playing well together. Coach Jamaal Shabazz also expressed confidence in his team ahead of its opener. Commenting on the make up of his team Shabazz boasted, T&T will also host Group G, consisting of Cuba, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda and Puerto Rico, which was originally scheduled to be held in Cuba, but will now be staged at the Mannie-Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from tomorrow until Thursday.
At the end of the two round-robin groups, the top two teams will qualify for a third round, four-team series from which the top three will qualify for the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup to be played in October.
The second round group winner and the best second place team from the two groups in T&T will also qualify for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games carded for Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, July 17 to August 1. Puerto Rico qualified as host. Already qualified for the Gold Cup are Canada, Mexico, USA, Costa Rica and Guatemala. Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and El Salvador have qualified for the CAC Games.

Nah, Nedd was always small and skinny eating cyah help she. However she ah baller for real. She by far better than a lot of the players on the women team that does get big up. Maylee always had decent size but fitness and strength always ah problem with ALL we players.

I believe it is 2 nil for Trinidad at half over Guyana.
Trinidad has carried the majority of the play.
First goal was scored on a breakaway , think it was King # 10 , 2nd gaol to scrambly to tell as the picture is grainy at times.
enclosed link is for the match.
Go Princesses

what was the final score ?

The final eneded up 3 nil ...
Was nice to watch even though it was grainy.
am disappointed that it is a feed from the GFF (appreciative of it) however disappointed that the TTFF did not show all games live and in digital technicolor, especually when we saw three big a@@ cameras taping on the lower level.
Anyways Congrats to both teams in mving to the next round of the gold cup as well to the south american carribean games.
Cheers

Haitian women beat Cuba and remained unbeaten..http://guardian.co.tt/sports/football/2010/05/15/haitian-women-stay-perfect
-
That's the senior team?? they look so young
-
Haiti beat Puerto Rico 2-0 tonight, so Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Haiti are all in final round of Gold Cup qualification. I think Cuba are the 4th team, but not certain of the Cuba v Antigua result from tonight. The top 3 from the 4-team final round will go to the Gold Cup.
The Central American & Caribbean Games lineup will be:
Puerto Rico (hosts), Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, Guyana, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua.
Unless Cuba beat Antigua by 10 goals or more tonight, in which case they will qualify instead of Guyana.

I will judge these Soca Princesses based on how they perform in the CAC games against our Central American rivals

Trinidad and Tobago are one step away from securing a spot in the prestigious tournament, winning their three matches including a 3-0 victory over Guyana on Friday night in what was billed as the encounter expected to be the most testing for the hosts. ..Continue http://www.newsday.co.tt/sport/0,120868.html

Now, it's my understanding that Cuba is not sending a team to the WGC in the US. That leaves 3 teams for the three spots to the GC. So, why should there be one more qualifying round? Is it just for bragging rights, to crown a champion?

Why Cuba must do this now to these girls. They work so hard and then deny them the right to play. Maybe they get a tip that the whole team planned to defect.
