• Santos Laguna of Torreon Mexico, Dallas Cup XXVI Super Group finalists.
• Tigres of Monterrey, Mexico, are the Dallas Cup XXIV Super Group Champions.
An announcement like this, would not be complete without unveiling the Sunday, April 9 line-up at Pizza Hut Park with the Dallas Texans Red of USA vs. Tigres of Mexico at 3:00pm, Opening Ceremonies, with an Olympic-style “Parade of Teams” at 5:00pm, followed by the Featured Match of opening day, Manchester United FC of England vs. Real Madrid CF of Spain at 7:00pm. Randy Jones, tournament manager, said, “The Super Group brackets are tough, so it will be exciting to see who comes through to the finals, Sunday, April 16th. It is amazing to think that some of these world class teams will have the opportunity to play each other for the first time, ever, right here in Frisco.”

Nice one Flex. That is surely Lincoln Phillips' idea.
Each year he takes teams to contest the Dallas Cup.
-
Lincoln Phillips really trying his best to improve T&T football, this tour will do our team good I just hope he gets the financial backing to continue to do what he is doing and more. He is smart person and have his heart in T&T but he must be careful of fellas like Richard Gorden, Anton and Alvin Corneal they will cut him up behind his back like a gladiators.
-
Great news! This will be an excellent learning curve for those players.
-
ditto!....
-
Great news fuh real! i am so happy nice work Lincoln. But i must say our under 16 playing against under 19 teams :o `.Well they will get the taste of stronger opposition and can only benefit from the experience.
-
nice rundown flex...........
much appreciated :beermug:
-
Flex, I notice you're writing a lot these days, I am sure if you had the contacts to more sources you would have been up there with the rest... Its none stop good vibes here.... keep up the good work.
The Dallas Cup is a great tour.. but are we sending an under prepared team again to another tour or was the under 16 team in training all this time. I don’t care if we didn't win the Dallas Cup, but we must not embarrass ourselves at the same time...
Good Luck Lincoln and great work, lets hope we have a decent under 16 team coach, maybe Stephan Hart or Jan Steadman. Good things dont come cheap, but it shouldn't be to expensive at the same time.
-
real happy for dis development, flex and lincoln is boss :beermug:
-
thanks flex...that is great news..Give the youths exposure on what level other kids are at...shud improve the quality of our players
-
I overheard a coach across from my office talking about Trinidad and Tobago, but I did not want to butt in. I hope we beat the Red Bulls, cause I ain't go hear the end of this if his team beats us.
-
The red bull has a Haitian player with them he is wicked his name is Josmer Altidore . not sure if he would be on that red bull under 19team

TT teams are no stranger to the Dallas Cup.
Alvin used to regularly take Alcons there. TT has also participated in this Cup b4.
Stern John was discovered in this tournament...I think it was for the TT U -19 team.
Peace,
VB
-
true VB alcons used to represent since 93 but then stop after a few years.
but send the u-16 youths, good exposure serve tehm well down the line. send them as much tournaments as possible.
-
VB..... my report suggested that first time for a national team of T&T, I wasn't referring to a club.
-
Well Flex "suggest" is the key word.
It's either the first time or it isn't.
As I said Stern was discovered in this tournament...but was it for Alcons or TT ....I cah remember. I'm pretty sure this is not the first time for a TT national team at the tournament. However, if I wrong ...cool.
And ah not knocking you... :)

How did the Alcons or the tnt perform in the dallas cup back then if i may ask. Did they win any games .
-
I couldn't find any results for Tt or Alcons in the Dallas Cup...but...
I found this quote from Stern on Felx site:
2. Name two persons, whether relative or not who have been an inspiration to you.
Dwight Yorke from day one. Growing up watching the Strike Squad, and seeing him make it big in England from a third world country. That has been a major inspiration to me. My uncles and my brother Kenwyne John. When I used to come up for Dallas Cup, he used to drive us around, be around at the hotel, he’s much older than I am and he lives in Miami. Always been there for me. I tend to inspire myself because I’ve always wanted to be successful. I know how much hard work it takes to reach there. I want to make full use of a talent and I hope I can encourage others as well whether it be football or any other gift
Stern would have prob. been discovered around 1995 in this tournament.
But sorry couldn't find any results. TM go have to step in here.. :)
Peace,
VB

Well maybe its the first for an under 16 team.

U-16s in beach work out for CFU cup.
By: Shaun Fuentes.
Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation Youth Development Officer Anton Corneal will continue overseeing the preparations of this country’s National Under 16 team along with the technical staff going into the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Youth Cup which gets going here from August 16.
Corneal has been at work with the screening sessions in search of new talent in the respective regional associations since his return from Germany where he served as assistant coach of the “Soca Warriors”.
This Saturday at UWI Grounds, St Augustine, some fifty players will come together for a final session from which new blood will be added to the existing Under 16 team which comprises the majority of players which represented T&T at the Under 15 regional tournament last year.
According to Corneal, this squad has been in training over the past few months and as such he is excited over the prospects of the bunch of players who he thinks would have matured over the year. Corneal was also in charge of the Under 15 team last year.
“We continued screening sessions because you can never end the search for players but we have in fact had a squad in training over recent times and this consists of the players who were in our Under 15 team last year,” Corneal told TTFF Media. “I am anticipating the shape of these players but we know it’s going to be tough going in any competition and we are prepared for that. The opportunity to have the likes of Mexico, Canada and the other guest teams like Panama, Guatemala and El Salvador will present us with a perfect opportunity to match ourselves with the outside team if we do in fact go through to the final CONCACAF stage.”
Some of the players of the Under 15 squad presently with the Under 16s include goalkeeper Jessie Fullerton, Franz Husbands, Sheldon Bateau, Leston Paul, Sean de Silva and Stephen Knox among others.
Corneal had the current squad undergoing physical training on the Mayaro Beach on Wednesday morning and training will continue leading up to the finalizing of the final squad. Corneal will remain in charge of the Under 16 team and has been pardoned from traveling with the Senior team for the August 9 friendly against Japan in Tokyo.
T&T will kick off the tournament in a Group E opener against Aruba at the Hasely Crawford Stadium from 4pm on August 14. If the winning spot goes to any of the guest teams (Mexico, Panama, Canada, Guatemala, El Salvador) or Jamaica which will host one of the two Final groups, then the next Caribbean team will advance as the CFU champions into the final phase. From that final round in which eight teams will contest over two groups of four nations, five winners will then advance the 2007 FIFA Under 17 Championship in Korea.
-
According to de above report, I taught Ken Elie was in charge of de under 15 team last year and not Anton Corneal.
Hope to see Javed Mohammed and Silas Spann take some part.

So the players on the team how were they selected ? Was there not some screening b4? these new players did the stalk bring them or the talented plaers parents just saw 24 millionaires created so they allowing them to play football.
Unless the following is true it is just Trini lateness as per usual.

Corneal: U-16s must step it up.
By: Shaun Fuentes.
National Under 16 team head coach Anton Corneal has called on his players to step up if they intend to prevent their dream from being taken away from them over the next two days of group encounters in the Caribbean Football Union Under 16 Youth Cup. Corneal made the appeal after his team has to secure a late equalizer for a share of points in the 1-1 draw with Barbados at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium on Monday evening.
A Leston Paul 85th equalizer and several missed chances means that T&T must aim to get full points from Suriname when they meet from 5pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Wednesday and then they finish off the second round group phase against the powerful Haitians in Malabar on Friday. The two team finishing atop the four-team table will progress to the semi finals and will be guaranteed places in the CONCACAF Final round of qualification towards the FIFA Under 17 World Championship.
“We allowed Barbados to play their game and we waited too long to get into it. We finished the game the way in which we should have started and try to play throughout,” a disappointed Corneal told TTFF Media.
“Too many times we allow this to happen and the guys have to step up. We met a team that showed a lot of resistance but we created the chances later on and should have sealed it. This is a lesson for them because the other teams in the rest of the competition may not play the same way. They will make you pay for it.
“At this time our aim is to take back from Suriname what we missed out on today. The Haiti game comes after and we will take it one match at a time. But everyone’s in the same position now and there can be no complaints about the change of the format. There’s football to be played and we must do it if we want to make it through to the next round and then the World Championship,” Corneal added. Meantime, Barbados midfielder Edward Moss who went off injured in the second half is reported to have badly broken his leg in two places and the Wrexham youth player has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament.

That is a real hard luck ..sounds like the tackle he succombed too was out of wildness and frustration (wit TT being down 1-0)...clearly this youth was (hopefully will continue to be) a player to watch...already playing in the youth system at Wrexham...how many TT youngsters are laying that kind of foundation?

Key clash for Young Boyz in Caribbean football union youth championships
published: Wednesday | August 23, 2006
Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter
JAMAICA'S UNDER-17 footballers will start today's game 90 minutes away from making sure they at least find themselves in the third and fourth play-off of the Caribbean Football Union Youth Championships being held in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Young Reggae Boyz will run on to the Dwight Yorke Stadium pitch to face Panama, having already dispatched Canada in impressive fashion to lead the Group B quarter-finalists on goal difference.
Behind the eight-ball
Panama are behind the eight-ball having already lost to Mexico in a closely contested 2-1 game.
Despite that, Panama are still expected to offer a stiff challenge to the Jamaicans but coach David Hunt has said that his team is relishing the opportunity to face them before the CONCACAF qualifiers.
"I'm happy for the change made by the CFU because it gives us the opportunity to match up against the teams we will be playing against them in the CONCACAF qualifiers so, to me, it is a blessing in disguise," Hunt had said after his team's 3-0 thrashing of Canada.
While Jamaica are on a high, they have not forgotten that this game is still a must-win because they don't want to have to beat Mexico to make their way into the final.
A victory in today's 3:00 p.m. fixture could mean Jamaica only need a draw against Mexico to top the group. However, they will still have to await the result of the Mexico/Canada match-up.
The format of the competition dictates that the top teams from the two-group quarter-finals will play against each other in the final.
Five remaining
The second-placed teams from each group will face-off against each other in a third and fourth place play-off. The top CFU team, of which there are five remaining (Suriname, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti and Jamaica), will vie for the top CFU spot.
The top two teams from the region will automatically qualify for the CONCACAF qualifiers. Jamaica, however, have already qualified for that tournament as CFU defending champions.
In other results out of the championships, Trinidad and Tobago drew their first quarter-final match against Barbados 1-1 while Haiti dismantled Suriname in a 7-1 affair

Boss, I en buying dat at all...once you could dream it, you can become it...You telling me that players cannot, without proper support (parents! coaches!), achieve the dream of playing abroad?
If you set it as a mission ... hardwork and DEDICATION make it happen!
That is part ofthe problem, we too often times ..say "nah I cyar be dis or dat, it too hard" ..... defeatist attitude... I hope that Bajan youth makes it and inspire some of the other WI youths along the way..

NJIT Assistant Coach Kevin Leacock Helped Train u-16 National Team
njithighlanders.cstv.com
Aug. 22, 2007
NEWARK, NJ - NJIT assistant Kevin Leacock's coaching ability was recognized in July when he served as one of two assistant coaches that helped train the United States under-16 Girls National soccer team.
Leacock, who has special expertise in goalkeeping, helped in the training camp, which is designed to train and evaluate national-level girls as they advance toward representing the US in international competition with the ultimate goal of becoming full national team players.
Kevin Leacock joined the NJIT athletic staff in 2005, became the full-time women's soccer assistant coach in 2006.
An accomplished player in his own right, Leacock was the Operations Manager for NJIT Athletics in 2005-06, while also assisting NJIT as a part-time soccer coach in 2005.
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, he was a goalkeeper on that country's under-21 and under-23 men's national teams, where he played alongside many of the players who made international headlines for tying heavily-favored Sweden opening the 2006 World Cup.
Leacock represented his native country in the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico and then at the 1994 Pan American Games in Argentina.
He came to the United States in 1995 as a student-athlete at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, and competed for four years as both a goalkeeper and a center back.
He and Tiffany Williams are the assistant coaches for NJIT head coach Alyssa Radu. The Highlanders are scheduled to open the 2007 season on Sunday, September 2 at Leacock's alma mater, Long Island University, with a 1 pm kickoff on LIU's Brooklyn campus.

TTFF screens over 500 for National U-16 selection.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF)
A national squad of thirty six players is currently in training gearing towards selection on a Trinidad and Tobago Under 16 team to compete at the Caribbean Football Union Under 16 championship in August at a venue to be determined.
That tournament will serve as a qualifying phase for the Concacaf Final Round of qualification for the 2011 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Mexico.
Between August to December 2009, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation held screening sessions throughout the country and according to Team manager Christopher Gouveia, who was also manager of the T&T Team at the 2007 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in South Korea, some 500 plus youngsters have been looked at during the period and that number will increase in the coming weeks.
Another screening session will take place at Plymouth, Tobago from 9am tomorrow (Saturday) for invited players and is also open to other interested players.
Sean Cooper, assistant coach of the previous National Under 17 team, is currently the head coach with Terrence Marcelle serving as his assistant and former national goalkeeper Ross Russell as the goalkeeper coach.
The current 26-man squad is in training three days per week at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
We have been looking at players at various points throughout the country since last year, areas like Mayaro, Point Fortin, Toco, San Fernando and other areas in South, East, North, Central and Tobago. The TTFF funded the entire program including flights to bring players from Tobago to Trinidad for sessions. We had the highest turnout of players from North and East, Gouveia told TTFF Media.
Now we are down to 36 players and that number will change again in coming weeks because more screening will take place. The door remains open to any player both from home and abroad who is eligible and able to make a valuable contribution to the team and the country, he added.
There are no players from the previous Under 17 team which did not progress out of the final round in Mexico in 2009 in the current squad but some of the notable names in the mix include Pro League youth players Dwayne Muckette, Gavin Samaroo and Kevin Dodds.
