Real Madrid wing-back Roberto Carlos is ready to join Chelsea.
The Brazilian has told Real that they must match Chelsea's mega offer if they want to keep him. At 33, it's unlikely Real directors will accept Roberto Carlos' demands.
The Brazilian ace told AS: "In London I have an offer of two years with the option of another one and a very important financial number. I want to play at a good level.
"If Madrid equals the offer, I remain, I know this clearly. But I know that football in the Premiership is very competitive and is a good level."

Between Chelsea and Roberto Carlos I eh know who more insane.
Chelsea offering ah 33 year old defender a 2 year deal who is way past his prime and even if they did, which I doubt, he really think Madrid go match that offer.
-
Carlos is using his brain by making that statement.. He know Real ent matching that offer so he using that to take the spotlight off of the fact that he want to leave. Everybody go say Real is the one who ent want to keep him.
-
past he prime still better than plenty.
-
even if he DID go to Chelsea...
appearantly he thinks past his prime at 33 he's going to get played more at a better club that is filled with about 5 different men ready to fill for every position.
Yea Roberto go ahead and juice your last few moments in the spot light.

THIS will definelty be a stupid buy by mourinho. He will lose plenty marks in my books if he signs Roberto Carlos.
i would like to see if Carlos will have the discipline to play within a particular role.......ie, no galavanting up the left flank!!
ah love it!!
cyd gray for chelsea!
-
This would be a very interesting buy
As we all know Jose has bought somepull stones wingbacks...........del horno and p fererria
many pple would say he pasy he best and he not disciplined enuff to play in position, but look wat jose do wit j cole................
lets just wait n c wat happens wit dis

Chelsea like they want to use up all the money, signing ballack was good not Carlos he a little to old.
-
Apparantely "the purple stuff" finally reach down Brazil. Roberto Carlos is simply fabricating stuff to draw attention to himself, so that Real Madrid make a quick decision on his future. Everybody from the Chelsea camp are denying any link at all between them and Carlos. This story just doe make any sense!
-
If Carlos farbricate it then he might lose out on both end. But, someone had to talk to somebody for this story to come out.
-
personally i never rate him...i always thought he is the most overrated piece ah a$$ness to play on the left....
wha is the argument? he is a good freekick specialist...the man mustbe score less than 10 out of the hundreds he takes
he is a good attacking player? yes he fast but he crossing piss poor
he can't defend or hold his position...yes he make a few tackles over the years bout how many times his teams concede from him being caught up the field of his defending or lack there of.
& plz doh say he have a bullet cuz john arne riise cud hit it harder & more accurate
so if he wha go & bench in the million man suqad let him go yes.

i concur :beermug:

If Chelsea has offered Roberto a place, it is probably a place on the bench. He will be warming that bench more than Clayton Ince did. There really are too many good players at Chelsea right now. He will probably start or sub twice for the season.
If there is a vacant space at Chelsea, I hope that Marvin Andrews get it - even if it is to warm the bench. ;)
-
if chellsea buy carlos we all know dat he is NOT going to sit on the bench
his main competition is Assier Del Horno................and he is not even a regular in the team
Galas doh like to play left back...............if carlos come he would move to the right, wit maybe terry or carvallo in d centre
dats enuff cover 4 carlos i thing
everybody tlkin bout carlos doh get back...........soccer knowledge is d holding midfielder has to fill his position wen he is out of it.............like wat maka does excellently 4 chelsea and b4 dat, real..........

ain't gonna happen, although we are short of options at left-back, Roberto is not a viable solution especially for a manager like Jose who preferes his defenders to defend first and second and only venture forward on rare occasions

I agree - I think the SWP/Ashley Cole swap sounds like a better option

if chelsea buy roberto carlos, it would be not mourinho's buy but a galactico style buy from upstairs..
mourinho never likes to buy big stars.. for all the cry people cry bout de money spend, the players that chelsea bought are not regarded superstars and their success is all about the team first concept..
but this rounds like de board making dem buys like ballack, and possibly sheva, tevez and carlos...

is mourinho want tevez...d man even fly to brazil to watch him play
-
true but in tevez case is because of the glaring need for a forward with the amount of throw-way drogba do

Fellas help meh out here. What is the name of the other Brazilian left back playing in Spain? They say he is the heir to Roberto Carlos. Real will just go after he and let Carlos go.
Auriello. Supposedly on his way to 'Pool from Valencia.
-
Yeah, i dont think carlos is ideal for Chelsea, but let's see what Mourinho can do with him if it materialises. i always wanted to see Carlos play midfield some where so he could fully express his offensive capabilities, and i find he can cross good.
