Caledonia U-17’s nightmarish season continued on Sunday, when they were mauled 14-0 by their W Connection counterparts at Gilbert Park, Couva.

Caledonia started the game looking to improve on their last performance, but it was not to be for it was only six minutes gone when Isaiah Smith got the first of what would be a personal hattrick.

Things got no better when five minutes later Weslie John got Connections second. The game quickly turned into a route with Caledonia conceding six goals in the first half.

The second half got no better for Caledonia as they conceded eight more goals with Cory Cyrus getting a personal beaver trick, Isaiah Smith and Anthony Parris hattricks and Jevon Cornwall a double. In the end it was a dejected Caledonia team that would leave the Gilbert Park field, one could only hope that things would get better for this bunch of young guys.

Teams:
Caledonia: Kristoff Alfred, Paul Addley, Gilbert Browne, Keston Roberts, Jerome Jones, Joey Guerey, Keston Akers, Richard John, Kristofer Alfred, Jerry Girley, Adisa Govia

W Connection: Isaiah Smith, Weslie John, Jameson James, Anthony Parris, Micheal Quashie, Dwayne Edwards, Joshua Bachan(Kerron Gray), Cory Cyrus, Quamme John(Brandon Neptune), Andre Marchan(gk), Jevon Cornwall(Keno Davis)

Honestly I believe W Connection, Joe Public and Jabloteh youth teams are far more superior than the other youth teams in the league..Those three teams just have a better youth development program in place..

United Petrotrin cruised pass Caledonia AIA U15’s 5-0 at the Larry Gomes Training ground on Sunday.

A Scrappy start by the Caledonia defence gifted Petrotrin a goal from as early as the 2nd minute when they failed to clear and Jerome Diaz scored his first goal with a well placed shot.

Four minutes later Diaz scored his second to give his team a 2-0 lead with just six minutes gone. Diaz was now in full flight and would punish Caledonia two times again before the break to give his team a 4-0 lead at the half.

At the start of the second half United Petrotrin’s Travis Francis would get his name on the score card when he shot pass the Caledonia keeper to extend the Petrotrin lead to 5-0 in the 48th minute.

Caledonia slowly started to come into the game but failed to put away their chances. Substitute Kevon Noel known as “turbo” entered the game late in the second half and provided the small crowd with some entertainment with his speed and deft touches.

In the end United Petrotrin walked away with the three points and Caledonia was left wondering what went wrong.

Teams:
Caledonia: Garnett Cropper, Sahquille Morris(Emmanuel Antoine), Jonathan Daniel, Akeil Huggins, Dale Roberts, Jamal Sandy, Akim Joseph, Theon Durham, Amos Antoine, Michael Jerome, Lennon Browne,

United Petrotrin: Aaron Fleary, Jerome Daiz(Sheraz Nancoo), Kwame Gonzales, Nathaniel Burnett, Tevin Nicholas, Jamal John(Tevon Noel), Emmanuel Adams(Johlawne Beckles), Rodney Young, Travis Francis(Kennt Atkinson), Anim Pereira, Kirston Charles,

Caledonia AIA to rebuild development programme
Source: Newsday

THE NEAL and Massy sponsored Caledonia/Morvant based professional football club Caledonia AIA is in no way deterred by the difficult start that the club’s teams are encountering in the early stages of the TT Pro League youth competition.

Caledonia AIA officials have pointed out that the club took a conscious decision to focus their youth teams exclusively within the Morvant/Caledonia/-Laventille community.

“Our youth development programme is in a rebuilding process. We are facing challenges in this but we are committed to making a positive difference within our core community and will stay the course.

“We expected tough times,” said Caledonia AIA Technical director Jamaal Shabazz.

Shabaaz acknowledges that the club’s resources are being stretched to the limit as they seek to meet the Pro League’s demand to field Reserve, Under-17, Under-15 and Under-13 teams.

He however agrees that a well-structured youth development programme is essential and will redound to the long term and sustainable benefit of the club.

“In the past Caledonia had one of the best youth programmes in local football. We aim to restore that reputation. I am confident that the youngsters will improve as they play more matches,” said Shabaaz.
