people...not sure how many of you know of Joel Rahim...
He, was for me an outstanding football player and again in my opinion ,the the last top left back for TnT....
no disrepect to Avery John, Faustin and others...
He went to Mod Sec in south and saw the school to the best years they ever had in the old CFL...
I saw many good games he had for TnT and he was once offered a Pro contract to play with Transavaal ( Suriname)...could have been his window to Europe...but those were different days
To my knowledge he still lives in Marabella ...not sure of his life after football....but i hear he plays the odd fete match....
to be honest he was my Idol...i guess you know how it is at school when as a form 3 student,, i was called to the Senior Intercol team, and rubbed shoulders with the stars of the team like Rahim and Verant Tyson....we also became good friends after....but i lost track when i moved to POS many years ago....
so " Tallman"...give me some stats on Rahim nah...and also to the forum who may know of Joel Rahim...cheers
-
Wicked wicked footballer, one of T&T's more talented and versatile left backs. He played for Hurricanes and San Fernando Strikers. Had an offer in Surinam that could have led to Dutch football. I was lucky enough to play with Joel, and i must admit admiration for his game. Probably the last player of Indian heritage to represent T&T.
Another player that suffered from the ban on players in the Premier. Because of this T&T lost out on him gaining more caps.

a bit before mih time but it bring back good memories of how fine dem mod sec girl was.
ah even hit up allyuh sports day once but eh pick up nothing :-[.

I eh have no stats fuh he, but he could not have played dat much fuh T&T because at dat time late 70s/early 80s we hardly play any international matches (against other countries). He was on de team dat won de Caribbean Cup in Puerto Rico in 1981. We score 10 goals in dat tournament and concede naught.
How it is he get de nickname "Bunny"?
-
ah could be wrong, but I think we scored 7 in the final vs. Puerto Rico..

Big Magician, I am surprise of your football knowledge, to hear that you can call out Rahim and Tyson, and nah mention your captain bro, Ronnie Roberts (CARAP), a real talent.
The only year that mod sec ever played intecol and it took pres 2 games to knock us out, i will always regret missing that sitter at the end of the 1st game with the score 0-0, then that dame principal took the team to church before our replay, with your coach Danny hanging on to he Little friend, man after that church session all went down hill.

-
Sorry DC, and how did team play?
I know Jan is a serious coach when it come to fitness but lacks in technical.
-
Well look I doh even know who Mod Sec is (some secondary school obviously)...let alone Joel Rahim, but always good to hear men reminiscing about the olden days and players from yesteryear. Ah started to say "talking about older players"...but seeing dat Observer and Coach was kicking ball wid Jesus I ent want tuh make dem feel too ole,lol
Carry on :beermug:

Coach dat church thing sound vaguely familiar (see Strike Squad Nov. '89) anyway ah just cyah put ah face on Rahim (who name ah know and who ah know ah see play). Verant transfer to Mod Sec from Inter so ah he know real good, like another man say it just good to hear men (ahem, south men) bring back lil football memories. Ah waiting for somebody to bring up the de year (1979 ah believe) when little Fyzo Inter play Fatima-ah believe-in the barclays intercol knockout final in the Park. yeah dey beat we but it was still memorable for we lil school, oh and Patrick Geoffrey (Joefer) was on dat team.

That was way back then and We had 4 draws and no wins. We were knocked out of the first round Intercol by P'Town 2-0. The star of that team was a youth called Raurie Robinson. I think he played for Liberty years later.
I thought Jan was only hype, I agree with you.....back then and Our Caretaker Mr Scott was corrupt, and tech staff only cared about their dunce children getting into 6th Form....! Was a great experience though. I later left to go to Pres..... ;D
-
Breds the 1979 Intercol Final was Fatima vs. ST. Augustine.
Fatima won 2-1.

Yeah Fyzo what ah name yuh call dey Patrick Geoffrey (Joefer) he was on the National youth team back in 76 or 77. Never really represented T&T enough at the senior level.
I remember him & Brian Williams running things in the Palo Seco team midfield, feeding Eddy Jones to throw way over bars ;D. Lard! I remember going down to play Inter and if yuh beat dem, man trying to break down the door to the dressing room and beat up man. Every man jack trying to climb out the little window and get to the bus stop we hahaha
-
dais is why ah include "ah believe" in de post, ah probably make a mistake by putting Barclays and Intercol in the name, BUT having said all dat, ah know ah didn't imagine going Skinner Park and seeing we side lose. so excuse yuh boy nah (is nuff cananbis sative-L back in de day), I almost certain was Fatima (archivist, please verify?!?!?) we play, ah believe the skillfull skinny-man was on dat team 9cyah remember he name), ah wanted to say garnet craig-but he tall.
-
I remeber joel rahim he was good but not the best left back,Roderick (mandog) Nicolson who played with Vandykes, Challengers, Malvern and also pro Pioneers along with with Rahim was better, also the red man from Peterboro think his name was Elliot also was a better player. Not to take nothing away from Rahim he was ok but he did not look against New York Comos in the oval yes it nice to look back.........................................football is more than a kick in grass its life

Nicolson nah I see nuff man use he. Now Suzie (Eliot) who play for ASL arguably a better player indeed. As for the Cosmos game (depends wich one) but all man look ordinary in that game

79? Skillful and skinny? Not too tall?
Coulda be Lester Joseph or Andre Ramdoo.

As for the Cosmos game (depends wich one) but all man look ordinary in that game If I remember right Clousel had one bright spot in the that game at the oval he pick a ball just outside the box shake right shake left beating the hold back line to include the great Franz beckenbauer then throw away the goal but is was sweet even Beckenbauer had to clap, as for sammy he share beat all day, rahim was a ball watcher all game , then it climax when the brazilian ah forget his name spit on the barbadian foward playing for pro pioneers and of course he the bajan cuff him in his face...........................................................I love to look back at those games

From what I remember of the game Clauzel pick up, start to shake and Beckenbauer step forward and take away the ball like he was playing wid he child in the back yard. The Bajan was one of the Goddard brothers, yeah I remember the spit.

Cosmos come in the 70's maybe 76-78 I want to say they came twice once with Pele and once without, but doh shoot meh, brain cells dying years now. I remember who ever coach put ah man to man mark El Rey, Pele run to the side line calling the man and the man follow. The crowd start to boo. every time Bogiesevic beat he man and move through midfield Pele run to the side line and Boogie just carry to goal, Lard ! Talk about kicks. 1/2 time de locals abandon that tactic hahahahah
-
The dread in the front is that Zeno also played for TT in basketball a very good talent.
Big Magician what position you played, I can't name the team, the ones i remembered are Hargraves, Rahim, Ahee, Demas (keeper) Tyson, Chotilal, Cromwell, Jadoo I might be wrong with some.
-
real good "coach."...excelent....yuh real know dem names....are you Mod sec also ??
as for me...i was called up as a form 3 student to the team on the eve of the south final replay...(striker/winger)
so i went to the weekend camp...and I impressed Coach Danny enough to make him rush off on the Monday to try to get me registered to play( or at least be on the team)....but that failed...so i miss out...
the funny part is, i was invited to go on the team bus to the final and be part of the whole team ting.....yuh know yuh boy blank dat and went with my form 3 mates and storm the "Park" over de wall....lol...
well after dat year...mod sec went down...so das my college footbal....lol

Yeah dat is Zeno he was the striker who mash up ASL in PSA, the first year of the League. He was a very good basketball player as well for Dovers and T&T.

This is how you play 1 v 1, 2 small goal we play for 15 mins or whatever, when you score you start from your goal no center, man you guys never play street soccer, after a finish kick some butt you will know about Mod Sec, Hurricanes and Telco, Texaco and Giants all former teams, so talk the talk now you step up for a challenge. Palos you first! I start to see man knees buckling.
By the way did anyone recognize SH in the photo, he is the only kinda a fair skin dude.

Yuh should say in de middle row, because Carpette behind him in the back row light-skinned too.
Yeah Palos....another old-timer here. 1v1 was a great way to build individual skill and to strengthen the "one-on-one" apsect of the game , like screening, turning on a defender then shooting, etc. Remember yuh have no one to pass to... (and good material fuh ole talk too). Sometimes even with enough to play a 2v2 or 3v3 we would play "1v1 champ on board" in the street.
If Coach grow up on dat kinda menu, ah would not be surprised if he could take yuh in a 1v1 if he maintain some degree of fitness ;D
-
Yeah OZ my bad, forgot about Red Man, SH in the middle row next to Archie (Keeper) does keep man lose with nough jokes.
OZ i ent go challenge if I don't keep in some kind of shape, my men AAA team I does coach, ah does take part in some serious scrimmage.
Maybe we can start a Socawarriors 1 v 1 challenge, let see who is in.
The age structure for games is 30 to 35, 35 to 40, 40 to 45, 45 to 50 and 50+ everyone pay a fee to enter and winner take all.

I remember playing dem 1v1 game. In we regular small goal sweat we used to use ah small pan (Milo, KLIM, Fernleaf, Sissons etc.) instead of ah traditional goal, so yuh had tuh be accurate tuh lick it dong.

Aye guys i just know if i did not come on this thread people would have said what wrong with Coops so here i am,i'm really enjoying this because it's bringing back good memories, the youths today will never understand what we talking about, one remedy for 1v1 was to use the curb to make a one two,one thing i can say though is that a lot of our national team players came through that Youth system
-
yeah I use to play plenty 1v1 but den ah man would get sent off and just so game done ;D
-
or he would lose take he ball and run home...game done we...papa.

Back on the topic, Joel (Bunny) Rahim is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet and a true player. I believe he still living close to Bay Road in Marabella. He had a brother who used to be the GK for Texaco back in the day as well. Can anyone remember his name? I think his nick name was "Flint"...
