Murder toll jumps to 24

TWO more murders yesterday pushed the toll for 2008 to 24. A 20-year-old man of Bagatelle, Diego Martin, yesterday succumbed to his gunshot wounds about three and a half hours after he was shot while visiting a friend.
According to a police report, at about 7.30 am, Angleo Skerrette, of Savannah Terrace, was standing outside the Tomato Trace home of a friend when several loud explosions were heard. The friend, police said, who was inside the house at the time, ran out upon hearing the gunshots, where he discovered Skerrette lying in a pool of blood. Skerrette was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded in a critical condition. However, police said at about 11 am he succumbed to his injuries.
A motive is yet to be determined for his killing.
The other murder took place on Monday night. According to a police report, at about 9.40 pm Shaka Wiley, 27, originally from Malabar, was at Sanchez Street, Arima, when a lone gunman approached him and opened fire. Wiley who was shot several times about the body, died on the scene. Wiley was a former student of Fatima College.
A party of officers visited the scene, along with the District Medical Officer who viewed the body and ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre in St James. A motive is yet to be determined for his killing. However, police said that he was a suspect in several robberies and shooting incidents.
Meanwhile, police investigators are calling on members of the public to assist them in identifying the body of a man which was discovered in a swamp last Friday at El Socorro. Investigations are continuing.

Very talented footballer... actually rated as the best in my year over Gary Gibbings... great dribbler... but de man had no discipline at all....
The man run afoul of Mr. Ramdass several times... play some U-14 and U-16 but never consistent and never bother to train for Intercol...
Last time i see him was years ago for J'ourvert....
