I not calling for the man head or anything but you have to show that you are in charge. We could argue that it really don't matter, but it is one of the finer point that missing right now. The players will know who really in charge and they would not respond well if they know that one coach trying to backstab the other coach. This cannot augur well for team chemistry. The admin needs to get this right and put a stamp on who does what. I said it the other day why is Fuentes giving info that should be coming from the head coach.

This is the advantage a true internal coach have other local caches and other jokey coaches..

They know when to tell de administration to get offf. And they not afraid to loose deh wuck.. they will just get anneda one..

If the admistration cannot get it right, who can
This begins at the head and it flowing down unto the players

If the leaders have no vision, the people perish

Makes me wonder if the coach knew what he was getting into before he accepted this assignment

Did not agree with that 4-5-1 formation he played aginst JA...and he should make a better effort to communicate with the media so the fans can have an idea of his plans with our team...he should not have a problem with that since he has a translator

I saw him talking to the players during the match. Apparently he knows enough to communicate directly to them.

Been saying that long time.  The man ent have to talk to press and public...it would be nice, but where is that necessary in order for him to coach the players?  As I said before, all this "he need to speak English" talk is just to appease people...the concerns expressed here have zero to do with his communications with the team.

When the man came he said football is an international language and we all speak it. The man can communicate with the team, that was never in doubt.

But look at ANY coach who went to a foreign country, once they learn the language they all say the same thing: "This makes it so much easier to get my ideas across".

Every single one.

I sure Tallman could pull out that quote from real articles over the years.

Is a lack of respect for us as well if he not at least trying.

So hopefully, he is quietly studying somewhere but he just not ready for the media yet and is not a case of him saying that he doh need to know english cause he can speak the language of football.

Boy you really kyah please some people nah ! Look how de man take over from someone who some ah dem same people was praising up not too long ago, and giving opportunity to local players and you know dem fellas still eh happy !

who would have thought that local players would be forming the nucleus of a T&T team with the foreign based adding de flavour ?
Well de record is one loss so far to England and wins and draws ...tell me who had a better record dan maturana ?

We still living in de past where everyone must please us and we doh have to do anything ...you mean  we eh have no news reporter who could talk spanish ? O levels eh needed for news wuk ?
Why we eh ask de man direck ...nah we willing to just sit back and get news from who ever givin it rather than who we want it from ....20/20 vision ! dat is why de USA and dem will always be ahead ah we even though football not in they 3 most popular sports !

You eh hear Donavan and dem talking spanish ? ...in fact de whole USA team might be bilingual .... we say we is fans but we kyah even ask de coach ah question !
De USA realise dat de spanish speaking community will make or break football in the US so dey do something about it. We get ah spanish speaking coach and we waiting on Anton to tell we wha he say ??? How we know dais what he say ?

We have to do better dan dat .... we kyah only critisize Maturana , we have to take blame some ourselves

Nah Bakes, coaching today is a lot more about getting your ideas across to the players. No one operating inside of a bubble, PR is a major part of being an international coach. You also have to have a relationship with your fans. Players and coaches can get fine thrown (not just in soccer) at them for not making themselves available to the press, especially after a big game.

Switch the word 'coach' with the word 'manager' and your point is hitting the nail directly on the head.

Ha but cast your thoughts back a bit and see if you do not recall lower teams beating T&T. Now when we win we take it for granted. I say give the man a chance. We eh even play a game in the qualifiers and men griping bout de coach ...next ting he go have to write an essay in english, dance soca and go by sookey and bunty after each game  or else right ?

All I hearing is reasons why it would be nice to have a coach that speaks English...so that he could communicate with the Soca Warrior fan base.  I'm yet to hear how his failure to address fans/media in English impacts his coaching.  Yeah, it's a nice PR move to have him volunteer to read them stories for some lucky child as he tucks them into bed at night.  Maybe he could host a sports day for school chirren and give all ah dem ice cream...nice PR move too.  How does any of that impact the performance/achievement of the team?

Allyuh get feed so much bullshit coming out ah Europe with some ah these managers who never see ah camera that they didn't like...to the point that allyuh get spoilt and losing sight of the big picture.

ah think people forget we was beating Mexico, and having good outing against Costa Rica... dispelling de likes of Guatemala and Honduras... Panama who had good team that year and destroyed Yard.

In de absence of light even a glimmer does seem satisfactory....

Im not truly impressed with Pacho and de Cornmeals and de biggest problem is dat we wont really test de metal until we get a next descent friendly because I dont consider bermuda, Bim, St. Vincent, Grenada, Panama, Cuba as such... I revoke de right to diss Haiti because dem boys have a knack for de sport dey could just never get dey shit right or they players always running away from camp...Lets go play Venezuela, Canada, Chile, Colombia..... I would have more respect for Pacho.  Man give me a dam Paraguay for crying out loud but not impressed so far and I dont give a dam.

and weary ah done hearin some of meh fellow forunites saying "easy grasshopper everything takes time"
I woulds be satisfied with this if we totally dominated Jamrock. We was on de back foot for big parts of de game. I'll give credit where credit is due and is long time ah ent see we score first. Dat was like gold.
Dat is de only reason i not saying off with his head but rather Im not fully impressed.

but make no mistake... unless dude have a magic wand to hit dis team with, we not doing USA, Costa Rica, Mexico and Honduras nothing far less for reaching to de big stage and having at least a beenhakker descent showing. (defence)

Doh hurry de curry as dey say ..... It takes time. remembeer we were far behind Jamaica just a year ago ! Check the records of our last meetings before Maturana, also check the report on our performance in Jamaica. Yes we drew in Jamaica but that was after they took off their stars . Compare that with our last performance. I agree that we have a long way to go but what I am looking at is whether there has been improvement in the team.
I would say that I can see some of that , although I have not been to many games and rely on the game commentary....
I believe we want the same thing but I am not even looking beyond the next game ...it is game by game for me ...are we prepared for Bermuda I would say yes ... For USA, Mexico or Costa Rica ...at this point a definite no..but it's just like exams .... one month to go who is ready ? ..but come the day if there has been serious effort ...you are ready !
So that is my philosophy .... you must learn to walk before you can run ...critisism ...the team is tooo slow, too naive, especially in defence, too unambitious, lack indivoidual brilliance, still trying to gel as a team .... etc.
but that takes time ...
just my write..

Yes but we have noooooooooo time if is 2010 but we ready 4 2014

Dont panic..what is important is that we get it right when it matters ...all for now we are still experimenting ...the journey only now start... mexico eh happy wid their coach either...and I dont know if part of his criteria for selection was dat he could speak to the press in spanish.
The mexican coach is swedish and they were trounced 4-1 by argentina a far cry from the result they obtained in their last meeting.
You tink jamaica happy wid dem two draws ?? ..when they were just becoming accustomed to callin we three points in de bag ?
Venezuela beat Brazil, as Dunga was experimenting with new players ...you should read his comments after the game . Maturana is new to T&T football and in fact so are we ! There are new players on the scene some of whom are schoolboys !
We need to test them and we cant do that in WC competition .... that is what the coach is doing.
I eh have no brief for de man ..but he has made a positive start in my books and I am willing to look at what he is willing to show us ...
Dais all
