‘Warriors’ say Thank You T&T.
By: Shaun Fuentes.
Still basking in their 3-2 victory over Guatemala on Saturday evening, Trinidad and Tobago’s senior footballers took the opportunity on Sunday to extend gratitude to the local public and other well wishers for their support before, during and after the pulsating affair at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
A proud captain Dwight Yorke said it was undoubtedly one of the more touching moments for him when he experienced the backing of the fans following the victory.
“We must say a special thanks to the fans for coming out in all their numbers and portraying the red, white and black and giving that extra force in what was obviously a crucial victory for us,” Yorke said.
Team manager Bruce Aanensen said it was a fact that the support did reach through to the team members who felt they could only repay the fans with such a fighting performance, one down to the wire as it turned out.
“The guys have always mentioned the need for proper support and they got that on the day. There’s nothing more that we could have asked for and now the fans also have something to take home with them and to take on for the rest of the campaign because our aim is to crown this off by going all the way,” Aanensen told TTFF Media.
“It’s been an overwhelming feeling for everyone but we are back to work and will have to get it right again for Costa Rica on Wednesday.”
Double goalscoring hero Stern John admitted that he wasn’t pleased by the harsh criticism but he was happy that he rose to the occasion.
“I was really happy to hit the target again and it came when it mattered most. The fans have been on my back and it’s not something to feel good about but they still came out there and gave us that support which we needed and we give thanks to them for it. Hopefully it can continue and we can move even closer to qualifying now,” John said.
TTFF President Oliver Camps said it was truly one of the best matches he had experienced since the 1990 “Road to Italy” campaign.
“Everything about Saturday’s victory was something to relish. I cannot recall ever feeling this way since 1989 and I must say that we appreciate the support of the fans and others who contributed to the event and from a Federation standpoint we feel the same way about what coach Leo Beenhakker and his team produced out there.”
TTFF special advisor Jack Warner added too “The Journey to Germany has come alive and it will remain alive. The display was one of determination and passion and one can only be truly delighted to see what transpired on and off the pitch. It gave the people a sense of hope, the man in the street, the little children, those of all classes and race celebrated on Saturday and we all know what this can do for our country,” Warner said.
Following a light workout at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Sunday morning, Beenhakker and his team will now depart for San Jose, Costa Rica at 7am on Monday with there being one change to the squad from the Guatemala match. Wrexham defender Dennis Lawrence comes in for Avery John who is out of the match on two yellow cards while National Quarries North East Stars player Glenton Wolfe has been added to the roster as a 19th player.
Squad for Costa Rica
Kelvin Jack, Shaka Hislop, Ian Cox, Dennis Lawrence, Atiba Charles, Cyd Gray, Silvio Spann, Brent Sancho, Marvin Andrews, Glenton Wolfe, Russell Latapy, Carlos Edwards, Dwight Yorke, Chris Birchall, Aurtis Whitley, Densill Theobald, Stern John, Scott Sealy, Jason Scotland.

i think we could get a draw at CR. they are not the powerhouse of the past while we a re improving day by day. after almost coming away with good results in MEX and USA, a point or more in CR is possible.
recommended formation: 5-4-1. start defensively.
-
We actually did good vs USA. And we dont do bad on the road either, maybe a tie might be possible, but after the way the team play against Guatemala I feel we can pull off a win. I dont want to get to excited though or build my hopes up, so good luck to T&T ..anyway.
USA beat:
GUA (2-0) in the US.
CRC (3-0) in the US.
MEX (2-0) in the US.
TRI (1-0) in the US.

Only MEX and TRI managed to score on USA.

If T&T was to beat Costa Rica, and Guatemala lost, TNT will go straight to 3rd spot ...CR is not as good as everyone thinks.. If TNT play had ball like last game I see no reason why TNT cya beat Costa Rica...TNT have scored goals before in CR..CR fans Hostile nuh rass But I feal sey TNT winning this game
2-1 ..A tie by TNT and a lost by Guatemala will put TNT 4th but TNT cannot look for forth spot TNT need fi try get the Third and it is reachable ..TNT beats CR and CR all of innah sudden loking at the forth spot and if Guatemala some how win there game CR wil be looking at the 5th spot.. I sey go for a victory .. People needs to understand dat Teams like Guatemala ..and CR is not superior to TNT...All out mi sey all out TNT but be precausious about it...

Is this time confirmed? The official FIFA World Cup site has the game starting at 8pm CR time, though soccernet.com states that the game is on at 8pm TT time. Can anyone confirm
-
Back in 1989....TT scored two goals in CR only to have them disallowed and lose 1-0.
We can shock them.
Good luck fellas.

A draw is the most realistic for now, but if we play them like we did Mexico and do not give up any early goals or any dotish goals and we TAKE our chances then we can pull off a win, ONLY if we do that, if not, then a draw will be a big thing. We will regardless HAVE to beat Panama there to make it a lil more comfortable. We CANNOT expect another miracle against Mexico, so forget that match for now. Wish Jones was fit to replace John if he taking too long to settle!! Hope Latas eh have to do everything again. I was impressed by Scotland he played well and hit a nice shot too. Very glad that Lawrence coming back, we definitely need him I would say Sancho as right back and Andrews and Lawrence in middle maybe with Atiba Charles at left or somewhere in defense. Remember it was against CR at home that Atiba Charles played well and got picked good!!
We cannot afford to play our defense like on Saturday where we were VERY VERY lucky on the break aways by the Guatemalans I understand we were on all out attack but for Wednesday we will have to defend more. No more Avery John feeling he is Roberto Carlos and Edwards and Spann trying to be Cafu and taking turns. Spann plays good as right midfield linking up with Edwards and Birchie but Spann is NO right back defender as they played him on Saturday!
Good luck Warriors I no we can do it.

Now, the text below I posted earlier
I am dying to see a dicussion about what to do about the Defense and to some extent the rest of the formation which depends on that decision. Until I see this I can't talk about team selection as a whole. It is bothering me that people are quiet about this.
With Avery out, who we go put at left back in this CRUCUAL game? Now that it appears to some (I for one) that Sancho serves us better as a central defender with very good ball control (remember he was a former striker with Charleston Battery and ? midfielder for Malick) should room be made for Lawrence, and Sancho moved up to a Jamerson sweeper role?
Should we chance farting around with Atiba and Cyd Gray on the LEFT in that frenzied atmosphere and draw a panic red card foul? Or is Atiba, Cyd able to handle dey stories?
Does Cox (who is truly a central defender) convertible to wing or does the jury believe he is too slow for that position? Is he just there in case Dog gets injured?
Should Spann be moved to left wing and break up the Carlos - Spann right side chemistry?
How should we adapt to Costa Rica's unique style and players? They are strong in the air too. (unlike Guatemala)
I am assuming we are playing to win and cannot go to play a lock down defense only game. A draw is no good. Is this turf at altitude like Saprissa stadium? In that case should we conserve energy in 1st half playing defense to avoid gasping for air in the 2nd half?
Hypershot and others. Wha yuh think?
-
Hmm good points... I forgot about Cox. Maybe Sancho at right back, Ian Cox at left back and of course Lawrence and Andrews in the middle, although Andrews still want me to beat him, at least he headers the ball out strongly yes. He still too slow. Any changes could involve Charles coming on for right back and Sancho switching to left back if Cox eh ready. DEFINITELY DO NOT LET CYD GRAY EVEN SMELL THAT TURF!! Remember whereas Cyd Gray learning how to do the dog dance and helped the Costa Ricans in 2001 beat us 3-0, Atiba Charles had an excellent game against them in the 0-0 draw in April. So I would say Sancho, Lawrence, Andrews and Charles OR Cox not Gray. I thought that Whitley played fine in the first half for the most part but he may be the scape goat to keep Spann in the game, of course Edwards is a MUST as always, and Birchie always fighting it hard and running at attackers and so far has done well in his defensive midfield duties coupled with his shots at goal which the other team mates need to learn how to do!
Jason.
-
Maybe the best bet is Sancho back to left back how he used to do it before Avery cemented his place there. Lawrence back in the center with Dog (but pray that Lawrence could handle it), Spann stay where you are at right back . Hence midfield unchanged with Birch, Whitley, Carlos and Latas. One may argue if Yorke should join Stern up front in the first half (I say so..4.4.2) or should we pull Yorke back and play 4.5.1 in the first half to stifle the Costa Ricans a bit in midfield but leaving Stern a bit isolated and overmarked
-
We may have a number of defenders but if we are to look closely nearly all of them are central defenders. I don't like playing Cox and Sancho on the wing, it has been done in the past and was not truly effective. It will be interesting to see who Beeenie puts out on defense. I for one do not believe in changing a winning starting eleven unless for injury and suspension (Avery). So my only change is for the man in the left wing back and boy ah holding meh head and hoping not to see Cyd Gray on the field or tallest in any other position but as a central defender.

So St John, tell me. Who are you suggesting for the wing as I agree with your wing concerns in general. It sounds like a real puzzle. I've heard nobody yet with a serious answer. It's true. Maybe one of our problems is a lack of wingers in defense and too many central defenders. If one winger is injured, no replacements readily available and that is dangerous. This Wolfe guy, (one of the brothers) where is is role?
-
Who are you suggesting for the wing as I agree with your wing concerns in general. It sounds like a real puzzle.
I will be the first to say that I don't have the answer but in general I believe in playing men in their natural position. With the options present here is my crazy answer. I will play three across the back with Cox, Sancho and Dog starting. Load up the midfield with Carlos, Span, Birchall, Whitley and Latas. Four out of the five midfielders can/have played defensively and I would hold two of the five in the defensive third of our field at all times to compensate for what is at the back. Not perfect but a suggestion.
The other oprion is to replace Avery with a natural wing back (Cyd Gray or Charles) and say plenty prayers. This is not bad if you keep the same defensive mindset in the midfield and provide enough cover for either one of them. One plus is that the game plan then stays similar to the Guatemal game. Although I am one to cry down Cyd and Charles, I realize they are the best we have so I might roll the dice with them and give them meh support.
Beenie is boss and he getting paid to make these tough decisions. Major cop out on my part.
-
I think we should go with the same starting lineup that we went with on Saturday, 4-5-1 it will make us sound defensively and from how we play last game we can attack in numbers.
Have no fear we shall prevail.
Go Warriors

seriously we need to have our midfielders play higher against the quick passing central americans. these guys are experts at the one-touch passing. Costa Rica has been shaky in defence however, and we have to make sure to deliver the ball to latapy and yorke high into the midfield in order to create chances.
so our defensive midfielder have to be clean on tackes and hold and pass the ball to these two players in a timely manner. Our defense also have to be weary that Wanchope and Solis are players of high calibre....the can make their goals....and danger, danger....Ronaldo gomez. He is known to be dominant in the middle of the park. Tough guy to handle.
Also, our strikers should learn from the Stern John double....AND TAKE ONE-TIME SHOTS AS THEY PRESENT THEMSELVES. the US does it to great success.
The bounce and elevation will be a problem in San Jose. That ground is cramped and has an artificial surface. I can't believe FIFA allows this ....but part of the politics. No wonder Costa Rica is hard to beat at home...if Tnt does beat them it will be a first.
There is no stoppin'....THREE points players. We've waited to long for this chance. Good Luck and tear dem apart. Help de PONEPAN and win again.

This will not be an easy game. So what is new for TNT? all our games from here on will be like knockouts. Win and you increase your chances to move on. I have been trying to follow the and read The Costa Rican news. From my accounts they are very confident that they are in the driver seat to qualify and that TNT would be the game to get put them in the lead.
Frankly, I like these high intensity games; we ought to be playing at this level consistently.
Let's hope that they underestimate us, are overconfident and that we throw everything we have at them. People, Pray does really work ; leh we start all over again!!
nes about their team and TNT arrival. Seems like they have some players coing back from injuries and or suspensions.

i was reading some local news today and i was just wondering...how come they made travel arrangements to go to Costa Rica and end up having almost 5 hours lay over in Miami...waiting in ariport is the worse thing for me.
so allyuh telling me we couldn'tve travled to Costa Rica via Caracas which should be bout 3 1/2 hours or so and made it a shorter flight?..mow with the itenary they have they looking at close to 15 hours...whereas it coulda been closer to bout 5 hrs max.

I eh know what is entailed in de travel arrangements, but after de USA game in Connecticut, some of de UK-based players flew to Miami and had to endure a long layover. Seems like it would have made more sense to go to New York or New Jersey.

KND - Predictions for Wednesday 3 games?
-
Regarding the left back issue, Glenton Wolfe in the squad as the back up left back. True, it will be loathe to see him make his full international debut in Costa Rica but who can give us an idea of how he looks for North east Stars. What kind of player is he? Speedy or slow? Overlaps or stays at home? Has good ball skilll or just kicks it out like Avery? Wildman like Cyd Gray or composed?
-
Being the eternal optimist, I believe we must all say our prayers for our warriors in Costa Rica! Coming off of the win at home (which I am proud to say I witnessed!), I see all things are possible if we believe. No matter what happens T&T fans need to leave the baggage of the past in the past and come out for their team no matter what. I have been a fan for a long time and witnessing the unity coming out of Saturday's game was a powerful feeling. May we take that with us for the rest of the games!

having the opportunity to observe CR up close. I would say that they are far from what they were. they lack consistency and a truescoring threat. Their overall team speed is not good and their gking is suspect. definately they are cutassable

shoulda give Tman the case

I have seen Glenton Wolfe play and he is not a wildman, in fact he is very composed sometimes too composed to the point of complacent because he gives the ball away a lot, lacks aggression and does not look up early nor does he play early balls ( which is something Dwight will straigthen out) but he looks usable in that position if they can make sure he does not try to dribble the ball down the sideline and lose it like I saw him do once too often. He has talent as a defender though ( has a good blade) but his left foot coming forward is not a killer-left like ( like Roberto Carlos kinda ting) it is more a curling left like Avery kinda ting

That does not sound too encouraging Solo. That is not the kind of profile we are looking for now unless he has improved since you saw him or you saw him on a bad day. if that's the case, put Sancho back on the left (reluctantly I say so) and let Dog and Tallest sweat it out in center-back. Note too how close the stadium crowd is to the players. We will need players with nerves of steel and good hearing.
-
I hope he improve too but I calling as I saw him maybe Andre Samuel or someone who saw him more recent than I did can comment but that is what I remember of him.

Those stats gunman posted are only goals scored in the final Hex..... if you count last year qualifiers then Borgetti probably has 13 plus goals...

‘Warriors’ go for the advantage.
By: Shaun Fuentes.
Trinidad and Tobago will be pressing for the advantage away from home when they face off with Central American giants Costa Rica in their 2006 World cup qualifier at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium, San Jose from 8pm (10pm T&T time).
Team captain Dwight Yorke says he foresees a “very difficult” match for the Warriors but is not counting out the possibility of a positive result, particularly on the back of a inspiring come from behind 3-2 win over Guatemala in Port of Spain on Saturday.
A charter flight will be arriving in San Jose through the efforts of team sponsor TSTT as well as CLICO with Honourable President Max Richards and other fans coming to support the ‘Warriors’. FIFA Vice President Jack Warner will also be on hand to witness the affair. Yorke and company awoke for a 9am breakfast and had their first session in San Jose at 11am on Tuesday followed by a second one at 7pm.
With the match being played on artificial surface, coach Leo Beenhakker made a request for two sessions and was allowed to conduct two separate one hour sessions.
Following a five-hour stay in Miami after leaving Port of Spain at 9am, T&T’s footballers set out on the journey to San Jose and touched down around 7:15pm, Costa Rican time and were immediately escorted through immigration before having to brace through a heap of Costa Rican media with several TV cameras surrounding the team bus, making the entrance to the bus at least a couple minutes longer than anticipated.
Upon arrival at the TryP Corobici Hotel, the “Warriors” were greeted by more cameramen, including a couple who have been camping out at the hotel since early Tuesday morning which started much earlier as the sun is fully up from 5:30 here.
“It’s nothing new in football,” Beenhakker said. “But we are here for a match and we know it will be played on an artificial turf. There’s nothing to complain about but to just go and get on with our game.”
Defender Brent Sancho, because of his dreadlocks was mistaken by reporters for Russell Latapy and some of his teammates couldn’t resist laughing at him being to get through some shouting “Russell, Russell, how do you feel?”
“Obviously we’re here to try and get a result. A victory would be great but we know that Costa Rica are also on a high and they will be going all out to get the three points,” Sancho said.
The morning session was watched by a host of Costa Rican media as the “Warriors” went through their paces, getting accustomed to the new surface. The conditions were cool with a strong wind coming across the tight venue which puts the fans virtually on the backs of the players on the pitch.
And having played here alongside Latapy when Costa Rica won 3-0 back in 2001, Yorke said his team is prepared for anything on the night.
“The surface is not a problem at the moment. But we expect it to be a difficult match for us. We know that the Costa Rican fans will be trying to make it very hard for us on the night but it’s not something that should throw us off. I am hoping to be part of a very entertaining game because we know that our team is a good one offensively and so are the Costa Ricans,” Yorke told TTFF Media. “But in saying that, we need to be as tight as possible at the back and ensure that we don’t give anything away.”
Latapy has been most popular among the people here who have jumped at every opportunity to shake hands or take photos with the him.
“We know it’s going to be tough out there because this is the time where all the teams will be trying to get results. But at the same time, there’s no reason for us to feel we can’t get something out of this match,” Latapy said.
Costa Rican head coach Alexandre Guimaraes has been suspended for the match after being ejected in the last game versus Panama. The homeside will undoubtedly look to the services of Ronald Gomes, Paulo Wanchope, Winston Parks, Jafet Soto and Walter Centeno.
Beenhakker added: “It’s not anything big because he (Guimaraes) isn’t playing. We must be as ready as we can be and try to get the best result possible.” A victory will push T&T to ten points, same as Costa Rica while the T&T faithful will be hoping for Mexico to do their job on Panama and likewise USA on Guatemala.
Costa Ricans prepare for War.
The head of the Fuerza Pública has reminded soccer fans that the encounter in Tibás Wednesday is just a game and not a war, but his units are preparing for war. More than 400 officers, including the Unidad de Intervención Policial, will be on the job inside and outside Estadio Ricardo Saprissa.
The way the North, Central American and Caribbean Conference shapes up is that the U.S. team is guaranteed a World Cup trip. México is almost certain to be at least No. 2 in the league and win a berth also. So Costa Rica is competing with Trinidad and Guatemala for the third berth. Then the two remaining teams will slug it out for the right to meet an Asian team as the fourth-pace finisher and a possible World Cup trip.
In short, Tico spirits are high, and the Fuerza Pública head, Comisario Wálter Navarro, is warning fans against carrying anything to the game that could be thrown on the field, such as glass bottles. He also warned against flags and banners that had wooden staffs or similar. Police will be inspecting each fan as they enter the stadium. In the event of a Tico victory, fans will find heavy police presence at critical spots in the city, such as the Fuente de Hispanidad in Los Yoses, a traditional celebration site.

Even back in 1989 we had a problem with giving up early goals? I wonder what is the earliest goal T&T has ever scored (from 1989 to present).

I wonder what is the earliest goal T&T has ever scored (from 1989 to present).
Stern John scored after 48 seconds when we played Haiti in the Stadium on July 29, 1998 in the semi-final of de Caribbean Cup. De final result was 4-1. He also scored in de 1st minute when we played the Dominican Republic in a World Cup Qualifier in the Oval on June 23, 1996. De final result was 8-0.

Without offering to declarations at no moment this morning and noon, the denominated square of the Soca Warriors had breakfast in the morning about the 9 and, later the players were free so that they were in their rooms or they walked by the facilities of the Hotel Tryp Corobicí. For the noon the technical body headed by the experienced Dutch trainer with 40 years of experience, Leo Beenhakker, decided to take to the Caribbean establishment to give to a long walk by the Metropolitan Park the Savannah, that served to the group as relaxation with sights to the commitment as tonight. To the trinitenses it did not matter to them that more than one of the conductors or some fans gave a small Costa Rican dose them of chota, therefore the horns of the cars began to sound as they crossed the highway. After this activity, they took lunch, for afternoon will make to chat technical, without forgetting work swimming pool about 4 in the afternoon before the game to the scene where today they will be the glances of 4 million ticos and also those of one million 300 thousand trinitenses. Scenarios for tonight:
TT Win - We could start practising to say HELLO for Germany, and doing our research on the beers up dey. Between the extra points and confidence, we should be aiming for nothing less than 3rd.
TT Draw - As usual, Trini doing something to prolong the big dramas. But it will be excellent, and we could still in be with a shot of getting automatic 3rd, but will start relying on CR game results.
TT Loss (knock wood) - Well, we now in the fight for 4th place with Guat.

In addition to the result of tonight Costa Rica will be very kind to that it happens in the mateo flowers of Guatemala. The return to the atmosphere of celebration of a party of eliminatory mundialista is expected tonight for a full stage and... Apparently in the tica formation two variants could be presented/displayed that would alter the game proposal that was seen in the game of Saturday in Panama. These modifications could be centered in attack end where Paulo serious Wanchope dupla of Alvaro Saborío, whereas Ronald Go'mez would play like steering wheel by the left instead of Jafet grove, that would happen to the bench. The selection had yesterday in the morning a session of training behind closed doors in the stage Eladio Rosabal lamb and in which the last details were practically defined before the game... With those Costa Rica modifications it would align to Jose Fco. Clubs in the arc. Behind and playing line of four men they would be Jervis Drummond, Luis Marín, Gilberto Martinez and Roy Miller. In the average field they would act Mauricio Soli's, hundredth Walter, Cristian bolaños and Ronald Go'mez. Whereas in attack end Alvaro Saborío he would accompany Paulo to stop Wanchope. The tricolor will today have in the morning a long walk by the Inbio park in Santo Domingo de Heredia. Technician Alexandre Guimaraes rebound that the turn rival is very dangerous, due to his present condition in the table, reason why did not trust of any detail. I find the team start off very tired looking. and catch a second win in the last 10 mins. very worrying if we have to face the mighty mexicans a few days after we give our all against Panama. hopefully the fellas will be fitter as their seasons progress.
-
I eally doh understand what happened to Sancho..
See me, i kinda depressed oui.. i gorn an sleep
-
KELVIN JACK - 6 - Good game but made one costly mistake. Kept it simple. Did not try to be creative on the distribution nor take unnecessasry chances except when the second goal was scored from the free kick we was nowhere near the ball because his positioning was very poor for the free kick. he underestimated the player's ability to dip it over the wall and he was nowhere near it.
DENNIS LAWRENCE - 7 - Nothing special tonight. He should have been fresher but it did not show. came forward twice but did nothing on those forays. Showed nothing in the air when we had free kicks.
MARVIN ANDREWS - 6 - Looks tired but played his heart out. Jumping for offensive headers and taking his eyes of the ball. Kept trying for the long ball distribution upfield instead of going to Carlos Edwards.
IAN COX - 7 - Saved Spann's many embarassing moments. Dealt well with Wanchope in one on one but was twice turned inside out by Gomez on the same beat that set up the first goal. Not very effective going forward and has a left foot that is weak and inaccurate.
SILVIO SPANN - 5 - Worst game I have seen him play. He was being beaten all ends up and passed all night. Made some forays upfield to link well with Latas early in the game but got lost after about 10 minutes and never recovered.
AURTIS WHITLEY - 7 - The guy keeps improving. This was a good game and a few times he took on the defence but not enough times to have a big impact. Had a balanced game and made some crisp passes. Can do much better if he is given liberty to attack and takes his shots from the 18yd line like Birchall does.
CHIRS BIRCHALL - 6 - Had a horrible start ( even picked up a yellow) but recovered well in a battling appearance. Had a great shot to goal saved in the second half, he continues to have at least one good pop at goal per game which is good for the team because they can set up that shot for him like Latapy did.
DWIGHT YORKE- 8 - Captain Fantastic worked his butt off but played too deep for long periods.
RUSSELL LATAPY- 9 - Without Latas this team would like very ordinary. He had the most creative passing and set up most of the shots on goal. Had a good pop at goal himself late in the game but his movement left and right of the field and the fact that he was getting the ball a lot made it mush easier for the team to attack through him.
CARLOS EDWARDS - 7 - Way under-utilised. He should have been given the ball a lot more tonight because he was always willing to go forward quickly. Pretty solid game though.
SCOTT SEALY - 4 - wasted three very good opportunities and did not run at anybody.
STERN JOHN - 4 - I think he should blame the astro-turf or the flight or tiredness or something. Stern was just not into it. Its not that Latapy was not looking to give him passes it was his positioning was poor and sometimes his touch overcooked. Could not repeat the instinctive play that got him the two goals against Guat.
JASON SCOTLAND - 7 - Had a very good chance but missed. He seemed willing to run at people and fight for balls.
-
eh fellas...for those who didnt see the game tonight ah think telemundo showing the game tomorrow at 2pm.
-
why watch the pain and argony all over ?
-
i am fed up...trinidad is useless..if we cant beat little teams like panama and gautemala then we have no chance against the big guns like america and mexico...not to mention italy, holland and england..thank god we wont qualify...Those teams will hit us 16-0 every game and make us feel shame...and now latapy stern and yorke will retire and no one is left...great..
Since yuh fedup and yuh name is youngone go watch sesame street or fraggle rock. Leave we football alone.
-
This is not good fellas... GUA tie and we lost....
PAN lost 2 good players yesterday so we may have to win we next 2 games, I wonder if Latapy will stay now...
Lets hope GUA lose they remaining 2.....
It dont look good though because USA and MEX will sell out.
-
Allyuh see the set a twisss up IAN COX get???

PAN 2
Oct 12
20:00 USA - Panama (No Effect)

Note:
To be on the safe side, T&T may well have to beat MEX and PAN, because if GUA lose to MEX and then win to CRC and T&T win to PAN and tie to MEX then we both will have 11 points but GUA is better Head to Head so they will take the final spot. However, if USA beats Costa Rica in their next game it will help us greatly, lets hope/wish MEX and USA take's care of business next.
-
I have to back USA for real....... seems T&T and GUA will have to fight for 4th.....
-
Sancho picked up an injury while training therefore not being able to play in the match against costa rica
-
We didn't have 2 of we faster defenders like Avery and Sancho..... men who does work hard..... and Leo Beenhakker should have known what to do...
We defence weak and we conceeding early goals, then start with a 6-5-1 formation..... and switch to suit.... de "Don" ... f**king up.....

Mine Here
Kelvin Jack - Made some decent saves, he could not stop both goals. I think he needs to work on free kicks though.
Ian Cox - Made 2 mistakes, one, he didn’t cover Gomez leading to the first goal and the other is he almost scored an own goal from a header clearance, is he left footed by chance. I find he did ok other than that, he did save us a few times and combined well with Birchall. But Avery is best in that position.
Dennis Lawrence - Was quiet, but helped, I guess he didn’t make to much runs forwards because he was the last defender.
Marvin Andrews - Look good on the right back going forward, but this man real clumsy at times. Sancho was missed.
Silvio Spann - You could tell he dont have a left foot because every time he got the ball he was switching it to his right foot. I still like him over Theobald and Rahim on the left if we have to use him there.
Dwight Yorke - As usual, worked his boots off.
Aurtis Whitley - Show some nice touch running forward, but needs to be more penetrative and take more shots on goal.
Carlos Edwards - I was expecting more from him, he did nothing much, I dont know why Beenhakker broke up the Spann/Edwards combo. Why fix something if its not broken.
Chris Birchall - Work his ass off, but needs to be more confident and composed on the ball. Have a strong shot and should use it when ever he gets the chance, his work rate is also very high and adds iron in midfield.
Russell Latapy - Why Beenhakker started him on top, I really dont know, when he came back in midfield under the strikers he looked better.
Stern John - Did better that his usual games, had a nice flick on for I think Scotland to score, he also had a nice one time shot on goal and this is a good sign, once he gets more confidence and up his work rate and take more shots on goal he will do much better. Like Edwards/Spann combo I believe Stern needs a good combo partner to feed off and one who will support him and he will also do great.
Jason Scotland - Had a nice one time shot that hit the side netting, and look capable of helping the team.
Scott Sealy - I liked his eagerness to shoot and that is a good sign, he just needs to learn how to hit them at goal and not in the stands.
I find the team didn’t play badly, and we match the Costa Ricans and look better at times, but for a coach with so much experience he should know better, this is not Holland, we are limited in certain position, one or two players out and we guessing who to use where, we should know this in advance. We also didn’t look like we were playing with a plan, and why does one goal kill the team like this, we have 4 coaches all together and none of them can motivate the players ? I am disappointed in Beenhakker tactics because when you play away especially when you are short in defence you have to compromise and use a formation to cover your weakness, we needed to set the first 15 mins tone of the game and then settle in and play to our style.
We was better of going with 4-5-1;
Jack
Charles, Andrews, Lawrence, Cox
Spann, Birchall, Latapy, Yorke, Whitley
John
Simply because we needed to either win or tie this game, we should have scored at least 2 goals and tie up de score. The team I name above is a good team who can keep possession and switch to difference formation without interfering with the team structure and play.
Panama have a bone to pick with us and they fighting for pride, we must be careful, they have nothing to lose, they are missing they best defender Baloy who is based in Brazil, Ricardo Phillips is good to and according to Tallman, Reberto Brown will also miss this game so we need to exploit this, but be careful because they have a number 10 (Medina) who is very nippy and they are also very good at home. They goalie is a classic, so Stern put on yuh correct boots. We have a better chance of beating PAN that MEX, so this game is a must....
Mexico also cannot be trusted, they will never make T&T beat them because they have to much pride and also they will plan to win all their games to claim the standings, they hate USA and they will make sure they finish over them.
According to Flex, USA must beat Costa Rica so Costa Rica will have to beat Guatemala in their last game and Mexico must beat Guatemala and T&T will get some breeding space, but we still need to focused on winning both games.
-
Exactly how I see the CR game too.
I know Baloy and the next man out vs TT, but I not sure about the Brown suspension.
Also, their danger man attacker who score the goals against us in the Gold Cup is also returning.

What up set me about Beenhakker is...
1. Why wait for an important game to try players out in different position, for example, Cox and Spann on the left especially since Spann and Edwards combined so well on the right. Cox probably never even played on the left in a competitive match before. If you going and use players in different positions because of injury or suspension why not play a more compact defence seeing that we was lacking in that department. Again, warm ups is important so in a case like this we would have known what to do and who to use where.
2. Latapy as a striker ? then when he moved him back to midfiled you could have seen the big difference. We cant put our only creative midfielder as a striker and we midfield scrunting.
3. What about players who not performing, Edwards and John should have been subbed because they wasn't doing much, especially Edwards.
4. Beenhakker finding answers in one game and then doing the un-just to scrable up everything in the next game.
5. Why have players like Hislop and Wolfe on the bench all the time, shouldn't they get a sweat too so they can groove in with the rest of the team. Insase of injury or suspension we wouldn't have experience replacments because Wolfe (Derek King replacment) never play a competitive game yet and Hislop eh play in a while, I know Jack in form but we had one more sub to make and he should have gotten a lil 10 mins or so just to keep them in tune.
6. Why isn't Beenhakker requesting his players early, we have the most 2 important games coming up and we need to at least get a warm up or two.
7. Beenhakker playing players out of position and experimenting with important games, this is why we need a tune up before Panama. Next thing yuh know Yorke go be we goalie vs Panama.
8. Beenhakker formation should be more defensive especially since we were lacking in defence and we were playing away. He need to also kill the beef between him and Glen, be the big man and set an example, Glen too..
9. Beenhakker have the team playing better yes, and also realising his mistakes during games, but he still insist on using the same players all the time. I believe the players want it badly and that is why the team is also playing better, Yorke and Latapy is also bringing alot to the team because the other players respect them, especially Yorke who showing real commitment.
10. Jamaica, Canada and El Salvador not even in the World Cup Qualifiers and them playing friendly games. I understand we players aboard but we need to in-force de FIFA rule and get them here to atleast play a warm up INTERNATIONAL game nah.
