he have to ride pine for now ppl until he could show more composure, what ah f class performance by kenyo thomas. after that dastardly performance he doesn't deserve ah place on the national team IMO.

So all de men who was selectin startin X1 with Keyeno thomas in their team for d guatemala game will sing a different tune now...cause its obvious thomas aint ready right now for that crucial game against guatemala...like i said its too early to choose a starting X1 againt guatemala..who knows if Daryl go be in rippin form between now and then and deserve to be ahead of Glen in the startin line up or maybe Glen will show us something special that may result in daryl sitting down...maybe Ince will have a stellar performance for his club this weekend..nobody knows who will show up...only players like Yorke and Latas have that luxury of starting on at& team despite poor or no club performances...we will see how our players perform for their clubs between now and Oct 11th..

That's just it, who would play 1st stopper? We seem to be lacking serious depth in this area, depth that could have been molded had a real campaign been constructed, had there been no blacklist, and had the TTFF had its house in order

Sando prince, these clueless coaches (ANTON & WIM) has been playing the man (Roberts) out of position since he donned national colours.
out of the fella own mouth he claimed that his best position is attacking mid, even when he played for sparta rotterdam he was used as an offensive mid, i don't know why they insist on playing the man as ah striker.
there's no midfielder who plays that role on our team, there's wingers holding and centers, but no attacking. whitley is an attacking mid , but is used as ah center, yorke should also play the role of attacking but has to fall into ah defensive position, so is whitley.
the reason for that is our defenders are lacking big time and they are nothing short of pro league quality.
most of the goals conceded to date and over the yrs were defensive errors, which in turn puts tremendous pressure on the midfield who has to over compensate for a shaky defence, which create problems for the mids going forward therefore stifling offensive tactics.
that's why we don't have one single defender in top flight football, we really need a implement a programme to develop top defenders in T&T in order to curb this problem in the furture.
if you saw the game last night, the hunduran defence was their strongest aspect and our weakest was our defenders.
Roberts should've been playing an offensive midfield position from the inception of his international career, i don't think any one could play the position better than him and deserve to start in this position.
stern and glenn would alway sweat before him BC the man is not ah bonified forward, but ah top flight attacking mid.

Knee woes continue to follow TFC's Ruiz

Eight days after having the fluid drained from his chronically sore right knee, Toronto FC striker Carlos Ruiz spent another practice on the sidelines yesterday.
Ruiz, acquired late in August to bolster TFC's offence, has had knee operations in each of the past two seasons. And an MRI on Tuesday also revealed a misaligned kneecap, a relatively minor issue.
TFC head coach John Carver, suspended from tomorrow's home game against Houston (3:30 p.m., CBC) as the result of his ejection last Saturday, says Ruiz can correct the problem quickly with proper rehab. However, the 28-year-old striker will still miss the game against the Dynamo.
And if the pain in Ruiz' knee persists, Carver will sideline him even longer, especially with Danny Dichio, who missed most of the summer while recovering from a concussion, fit enough to play long minutes.
"(Ruiz) won't play again until he's 100 per cent," Carver said.
But it's not clear whether Ruiz, a former league MVP with the L.A. Galaxy, has even had a fully healthy knee since TFC acquired him.
His knee problems are well known around Major League Soccer. Last season, with FC Dallas, he had surgery to repair a torn meniscus. This past April, a sprained MCL necessitated another operation and more than two months of rehab.
Since then, he has had healthy stretches. Over the past six weeks, he has played in three World Cup qualifiers with the Guatemalan national team, scoring twice in a recent game against Cuba.
Carver says he didn't know Ruiz' knee problems would resurface until last week, when his right knee ballooned with fluid, forcing him to miss a practice and limiting his playing time against Kansas City.
"According to our reports, (he was healthy)," Carver said after yesterday's practice.
"I listen to what people say. If the player says he's right, you have to trust that decision."
MLS rules require all players involved in trades to pass a physical before they can play for their new teams, and Toronto was satisfied with the results of a medical exam Ruiz underwent before his Aug. 31 debut against Chivas USA.
While TFC know they'll play tomorrow without Carver or Ruiz, they are uncertain about rookie defender Julius James, who sat out yesterday's practice with a sore hamstring.
Meanwhile, a hectic schedule is forcing Houston to shuttle regulars in and out of its rotation. Between MLS matches and CONCACAF Champions League and their quest for a third straight MLS Cup, the Dynamo will play four consecutive road games within 12 days, each one in a different country.
On Tuesday, Toronto native and league all-star Dwayne De Rosario was one of three starters to come off the bench in Houston's 0-0 tie on the road against Panamanian club San Francisco.
After visiting BMO Field tomorrow, the Dynamos will travel to Mexico to play Pumas in another Champions League game next Tuesday, before returning to the U.S. for a road game against the Colorado Rapids.
The Dynamo lead the Western Division with 39 points, while TFC's 27 points place them last in the 14-team league, but still only six points away from a playoff berth.

no draws no losses, nothimg less than ah win would do! and quite frankly i'm scared as all hell BC this could spell the begining of the end of my WC dreams 2010, and football for the remainder of the yr as well since i would lose interest in football all together.

PS: let kickaway cyd sit this one out , since he like to just kick away the ball to no one with no pressure on him at all. instead of passing the ball to ah midfeilder who could distribute the ball properly he does boom kick it down feild to no one! he has to stop giving away posesseion so easily. plus carlos is just as good in defence as cyd and cornell could play the right flank just as good as carlos and has more speed than carlos.

@ least give the man credit for discovering keon daniels ah furture star kid, and for giving some of the local based teenagers some experience and caps. he wasn't all bad. if it was all up to beenhakker , whom i love as a master coach, daniels would be rotting in the bush league without any opportunity to get discovered.

Has Cyd got a brain,he already got a yellow and is quite aware of the ref favouring the home side,the tackle was not necessary,all he had to do was stay on the fella coz he was going nowhere.Cyd just give the ref the oppurtunity to send him off.Brains is also required in footballand Cyd always looks likely to be sent off whether he get the ball or not.

Scotland played very well today....held the ball up REALLY GOOD, and much better than our other strikers when they're up there by themselves. only thing he lacked was speed, but he made it up well in the other departments.

Yorke was a sleeper MOM fuh me too... me mum... man what fight. Carlos played well in spurts, but only in terms of his defense and his fight. Offensively he really didn't offer much. I missed a chunk of the match b/c I needed tuh make ah pizza run so can't really rate Scotland too much but I thought he gave good effort.
I loved the effort Avery gave as well, but thought he was a little rash on one or two tackles... the man have ah rep tuh live up to I guess.
But Ince Birchie and Yorke real stand out.

I agree. It natural to question why Wolfe start ahead of Keon, especially as Keon has been our best player for the previous 3 matches. However.....Keon's weakness is a serious liability for the team. He does not come back to help his wing back and dat does cause we grief time and time again. Is not because Wolfe is a better player. Is because Wolfe will fulfill the role required of the wide midfielder BOTH WAYS more effectively than Keon.
In a game that we could not afford to lose, Wolfe for Keon was the correct tactical move IMO. And allyuh know I is a big Keon fan. I actually thought that Keon woulda come on fuh Latas when Latas got tired to play in de hole behind Scotty. Den Cyd get send off and dat was dat.

Observations:
1) Chris Birchall still has it. Its a travesty that he was ever off the team. I am also convinced that if he had get a third crack on goal,he would have scored. That was the kind of game he had.
2) I haven't seen Phillip play outside of the USA thrashing, but Ince was a boss on the night, especially with the save for the one heading into the left V. He made ONE potentially fatal mistake and got lucky on it, but greater keepers have done the same. He commanded his box very well - something that Phillip needs to work at.
3) I was very impressed by Wolfe. He take a serious beating and consistently involved himself both on and off the ball. I understand why he get the start over Daniel, but I would have preferred to see both of them on the field at the same time. As far as i am concerned he drink tea for Cyd's fever. Seeing that he is going to miss the USA game, i don't see what the harm was in leaving him on.
4) Cyd's sending off was not merited. If his first yellow was a yellow, ruiz should have got one as well. Those who think that he was wrong to tackle the guy before he whipped in the cross need to watch the play again. I'm less pissed about him getting sent off than his enforced absence against the US, especially if it means we lose some of Carlos's offensive ability
5) Carlos is on his way back. It will take time, and possibly more time than we have in this campaign, but no player on the field in a red shirt at the time, with the exception of Latapy, woulda have the strength, touch, and speed to eliminate the defender on the play to create the goal scoring opportunity that everyone berating him for missing. He made admittedly a bad decision on the shot - someoen like Stern woul have opened his foot more and hit it to the left, but the goal wasn't half as wide open as some seem to think. I think the keeper did a good job of cutting his angle, and an even better job of not letting the ball rebound when he save it, because Carlos hit it very hard.
Otherwise, he displayed the most intensity in the outfield over 90 minutes after Birchall. Offensively in the second half, we see him a lot less because of him taking Cyd's position, so I'm not worried about that. If there was another solution to slotting him into the right back position against the US, i would take it.
6) I was not impressed by Latapy. I think he suffered from us not slowing down the game enough for him early on, but he also did a mediocre job on the dead balls as far as I'm concerned. His class and vision is not to be disputed, but none of that is very useful when you don't have the ball, and as far as I'm concerned, this is why Beenie didn't start him in the WC. I would have preferred to start with Daniel and then bring him on to frustrate the Guatemalans when they start tiring, slow down play everything he does well in the second half. I'm not a Hyland fan, but i haven't really seen him play, so if Daniel wasn't starting, those of you who like the kid could have put him instead.If more defensive cover was really needed, the Leon sub for Wolfe could have been done at the same time. I think this is where Maturana drop the ball as far as squad selection goes, and i know i will get stick for it.
7) I could be wrong, but I don't see what Leon contributed to the team after coming on. As a matter of fact, this is about the third time I see him play, and three times I spend half his time wondering what his purpose on the field was. He morphs more and more into Denzil Theobald with every passing game...
8) Scotty played well in the first half and then seemed to disappear. Contrary to some in here, I get the impression that he plays BETTER alone up top than with a more mobile partner. Nevertheless i STILL wouldn't start him over a 100% Stern John.
9) Cornell Glenn miss his vocation. All now he should have been touring T&T with Darell Brown and co. If he was on the track team, we mighta actually get the gold. The play where he belt the last defender was set up by nothing else but pure speed running unto the ball, too bad he got held back (another ref woulda send off the Guatemalan for that) This is the first time Maturana play him in his element.
10) Dwight was class as usual and run even harder than he normally does. But the real reason we need him on the field, in those pressure cooker type situations was for the play of the game PUTTING RUIZ IN HE DAMN PLACE natural natural. If he didn't do it the way he did, somebody else would have done it, possibly getting a direct red in the process. Dwight is a nathural and you can't buy that experience anywhere. The only play where he show his limits was when he get a Cornellian ball to run unto in the second half and never get the run started, but other than that, his passing and tackling/closing down was 80-90% spot on.
11) Avery handle his business as usual or better. I have mixed feelings on Thomas coming in for Hislop, but i think in that situation, you needed a cool experienced head - something that Cyd can't really give you on the right side of the defence
Conclusion:
The next game is going to be nothing like this one. We will be home and the US will have no pressure on them away and already qualified. Bradley is going to play some of the second stringers and the newboys on the team and try to mix them in with the less important first teamers with one or two fixtures. A draw should definitely be a possibility - but we will still need something special to beat them. Think of it as our Mexico hex game.
We will need someone to spark the team like Whitley did in the first 60 minutes, and someone to step up and take the responsibility for scoring. That's why I think Daniel needs to start especially since I believe that like in that game, or even moreso, Latapy is not going to be very useful early on against the hard running americans. Wolfe will have to be replaced. I want to see Daniel in the middle as opposed to being on the flank, but its not going to happen with Colin Samuel injured.
Having to pull Carlos back is a decision i wouldn't want to have to take, putting Aklie Edwards to replace Cyd is an ever harder one. If Telesford can play right back, I'd slot him in
I think we need to go with two strikers from the start, and that is why i wouldn't normally start Scotty, but if Stern is still injured we don't have much of a choice. I however believe that Roberts needs his chance and would play him in the hole behind Scotty or play Glen of of him. Dwight is probably going to be tired in the second half, and we have to anticipate substituting him before the end of the game, chances are Hyland will have to be called into action if we're not looking for some desperate magic from the magician.
I think Thomas/Lawrence did a good job last night, but Thomas played for Joe Public and it might make a pretty tired central pairing with their combined age.

Correct is right. Team selection was spot on and Pacho's response to events as they unfolded(ie the sending off) were again spot on. I don't believe that you could have had both Latapy (who does not have the legs to do any defensive duties) and Keon Daniel ( who neglects his defensive duties) on the field at the same time in Guatemala if we were not chasing the game.

i dunno if anybody mention this or remember this but the guatemalan coach (Ramón Maradiaga) was the same fella coaching honduras during the 2002 qualifiers... or at least so i remember... if its him then he really have something for playing real stink football and acting like his side correct.if i remember correctly honduras was playing real stink in the game we had against them in honduras when they needed a point off of us to qualify... pushing the ball foward for freekicks when the ref not looking, diving and holding random body parts like they going to die, crowding around the ref... i remember someone from t&t getting a red in that same game but for all i know they probably look for it... anyways that pop into my head when i saw the coach last night.as soon as cyd get send off i was real looking for another 1-0 win against that guy.i was also hoping to see him pelted w/ bottles again like the honduran crowd did when they lost ;D

All the reactions from the Guatemala fans, coaches and media are of disappointment and of a genuine opportunity lost, especially given that we have the better fixture schedule to complete.. On our team its all celebration, fist clenching and back slapping...
No one is saying that its the best possible result and a win would have virtually assured us progress to the Hex. But given our history there, the circumstances of this game and the result, the positives heavily outweigh the negatives..
Did you even see the game to come and make such a dismissal of the performance?

Breds try and remember we are suppose to be the big team,we are the ones that last qualify for the WC,we not suppose to be struggling against these teams,check where we are rated in concacaf/FIFA,we are not underdogs any more although we get on as though we are,was a draw in T&T a good result also?what i observe is that a lot of changes are being made but what has not changed is the results we are getting,our best players are playing and peeps are happy i guess that's what matters most.

When we stars on de pitch I expect victory against teams like Guatemala. And don't tell me they play well, because I expect meh stars to play well. When yuh locals on de pitch ah expect all de player evaluations etc, but we know what we stars can do. Nuff ah did sh*t we shoulda win. We ALL woulda like to be in de US position...already qualified after 4 games.
Fact is...stars or no stars...especially when we shoot weself in de foot like how Jack shoot we wit de blacklist, we not at dat level.
So instead of dwellin in de realm of fantasy...we have to deal wit de reality. It is what it is. And de reality at dis point is not bad. Not optimum.....but not bad. We have a fighting chance.

that is the main problem there. if it was the same team from 06 that play together since then and draw then we could criticize them, but the blacklist kill our momentum. We also have to realize that the mighty USA also struggle against Guatemala in Guatemala to come away with a 1 nil win with 11 men.

This is amazing how it seems like we've been here before always teethering on the edge,living dangerously,like one person said if the team from 06 was allowed to stay together we would've been better off right now,well ah have news for you I disagree simply because it took beenie with all the gray hair on his head through a nail biting hex with all the stars and we barely pull through,my friend this goes beyond needing a psychologist,I'll give allyuh a story about 25 years ago I happen to be at the UWI grounds practising with ah team,there happen to be an american soccer youth touring team that came to play ah game against ah local team needless to say the trini local team dispatched of them with ease,hitting them about 7-0,well as it turned out the americans were complaining how our players and spectators were taunting them saying stick to baseball and how no yankee could ever come to ah nation that playing football for over sixty years an expect to beat us. moving forward to present day where exactly are we as a football nation,maybe the shock and awe of losing to the yanks more than once has finally dug our grave.............

when we play them in Guatemala.. yes.
In 40 years of playing them in Guatemala we've beaten them just once... 19 yrs ago. Outside of that we've drawn them twice (including last night) and collected 4 losses in we ass... including three straight before last night's game.
I not saying that Guatemala is our equal... but when yuh play dem at home yuh have to cut yuh losses and take what yuh could get.

How yuh go say "let's put aside games in Guatemala City"... where yuh feel they played last night? I really couldn't give ah ass about what we do in Germany two years ago, this is not that Germany team that played last night. Even if it was all the WC players all ah dem older and slower.
Bottom line is there's a difference between playing at home and playing on the road... I would expect you of all people to recognize that. With that recognition in mind there's no way talk of "let's put aside games in Guatemala City" should ever escape yuh lips.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Two points, possibly four coulda given us de cushion we need. The two additional points that were available versus Guate at the HCS until the converted free kick action erased them. The point blank range shot that "shoulda" been picked up from the back of the net by Trigueño (or Carlos). A total of 9 points versus de 5 we have woulda been nice. Not ideal buh ah could live wid it.
Last night was de first clean sheet by de Guate goalie this campaign. Guate go to Cuba without dey captain de dread Pando Ramirez due to an accumulation of cards. Clearly the outcome is not a happy one fuh dem.
Right now it boils down to motivation ... how motivated are we (!?), how motivated are the Cubans(??? guess we'll know if any try to defect upon arrival), how motivated are Guate (!?) and how motivated are the US(!!!).
Come fellas we need ah exclamation point to punctuate dis round ... Hex!!!!! lehwe do it then look to regroup.

If we fail to advance to the next round then there are only two entities @ fault, the TTFF for not continuing where we left off after the WC with the black list and jack warner's disdain for football advancement,lack of proper preparation, and the coaching staff particularly anton corneal and francisco maturana, who time and time again has got it wrong in their team selection, leaving out players who have the ability to produce goals for players with less ability.
we had the fire power to defeat guatemala in trinidad and also in guatemala. they totally refused to play the players who has the ability to get the job done properly, for loafers!
daniel is an offensive threat who's also ah clutch player, so is daryl roberts ,why were these players riding pine for wolf and leon, ah mean folks it's mind bogling to think we need ah win and two of our inform goal scorers sat wasting away on the pine!!!
we don't deserve to go to the WC this time around ! as the saying goes if yuh fail to prepare!!
i think jack warner should be taught ah good lession!! ah part of me wanted us to win yesterday , but another part wanted gautemala to vanquish us BC of the nonsense that's been taking place for the past 2 yrs, that and jack warner and aton's biasness & bad mind, and to me bad mind and descriptiveness should not be rewarded with good results. positive.
