Winners Eastern Credit Union pose with their trophy and prizes.

Sixteen corporate teams came out to support the fifth annual Soccer for Charity football tournament hosted by All Sport Promotions at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Sunday. The event made a profit of $18,500, which was donated to the Just Because Foundation, a charitable group formed to provide emotional, practical and social support for families and children afflicted with cancer.

Vice president and co-founder of the foundation Noel Joseph explained the basis for the organisation and thanked all the teams and fans for coming out to support the cause.

Fun prizes included the ‘team which conceded the most goals’—but at the end of the day, bragging rights went to Eastern Credit Union whose lone goal against past champions General Marketers Showtime won them the tournament and the Soccer for Charity trophy with a case of cold beer to celebrate.
